Matilda went back inside because the reporters seemed like they were preparing to photograph her.
Her entire world was disintegrating right in front of her eyes.
Matilda was adopted by the Keegan family, a wealthy family.
Her adoptive parents had two sons, whom she considered as her elder brothers.
Mrs. Keegan had no choice but to adopt Matilda when she was four years old because she was unable to have a female child.
Matilda knew her position in the world from the moment she was adopted. Her adoptive parents treated her like an asset, and she had no choice but to be grateful because she was well cared for.
They gave her a good education, food, clothing, and other necessities, so the least she could do was be grateful.
Her adoptive parents eventually gave birth to a female child after years of waiting.
Matilda has never gotten along with her younger sister since she always has a sweet face but a cunning heart.
Currently. She made sure to lock the room door before hurrying back to the bed.
Her entire appearance turned pale as she sat on the bed.
The young man was still watching her every move and conducting some introspection.
He booked this hotel room last night because he needed to get away from work for a few days.
His best friend invited him to the hotel bar, where they discussed and drank a bottle of whisky together.
He remembered feeling a strong discomfort in his abdomen after only one glass of whisky.
His mind began to race, and he vividly remembered his best friend smirking at him.
His best friend had been watching him as he struggled to get back on his feet. He was hot, and his best friend didn’t mind despite the fact that they have been friends for seven years.
“Hello, Mister!” Matilda’s voice rang, jolting the young man back to reality.
He arched his brows and turned his gaze to her. “Me?” He interrogated her.
Matilda’s gaze became piercing, and if looks could kill, she would have ripped the young guy apart.
She got out of bed and put the blanket around her small frame. Her gaze remained deadly locked on the young man as she made her approach towards him.
“Would you put something on? You are completely naked.”
She was upset, and her voice was cold. She was angry at the young man for having s*x with her, and she was angry at herself.
She had just lost everything the night before. Her body was flooded with anguish. She lost everything in one moment: her first kiss, her virginity, her happiness, her hope, her confidence in humanity, and her own value.
The young man she had just spoken with moved slowly towards the bed, grabbing his black slacks from the floor.
He put on his trouser, then turned back and glared coldly at Matilda.
The entire room went chilly, and his hazel eyes revealed how serious he was. They have a frigid aura, and his formerly peaceful nature vanishes into thin air.
She became terrified.
He was giving her shivers down her spine, and each stride he took echoed in her ear as he approached her.
Matilda wasn’t as brave as she pretended to be, but Hector was a chilly man.
Hector Zachary was the man she had slept with the night before.
He was the CEO of the city’s largest corporation, and because he wasn’t a social guy, his photo rarely appears in the magazine.
He prefers to live his life quietly, hence he has firmly forbidden reporters from photographing him unless their career would be destroyed.
All he could think about right now was why there were reporters outside the hotel room door.
“I won’t repeat myself, young lady, so tell me your name and what happened to you last night.”
His tone was cold and commanding. Matilda didn’t dare to contradict him.
After sighing and nodding slightly, she decided to explain herself.
“My name is Matilda Keegan, and I believe… I can’t exactly put my finger on what occurred last night, but it appeared that I was drugged.”
Her fury did not surprise Hector. He believed she was drugged, because of the way she behaved last night.
“My name is Hector, and you may proceed with your explanation?”
Matilda breathed out. “Last night, I was with my younger sister. Well we aren’t blood related. She suggested we should have fun with each other and we did, because my wedding is this coming week. She had reserved a hotel room, and we were sitting there talking when I became dizzy.” She explained before taking a brief break. “I got dizzy after sipping the wine she offered me.” Matilda conceded.
Matilda did not disclose the part where some males entered the hotel room and tried to have their way with her, which was before she escaped from them.
They didn’t treat her violently since Matilda’s younger sister told them to handle her with care.
If she was beaten up by those guys, it would be obvious that she had been raped, which was not part of her sister’s plan.
Hector exhaled while placing his hand in his hair.
Matilda wanted to question him about who had drugged him, but she restrained herself. Last night, she remembered him restraining himself from touching her, indicating that he was drugged.
They were both drugged by different individuals.
Despite her urge to interrogate Hector, Matilda dismissed her curiosity.
All she could think about was her family and how they would disown her if they found out she slept with a guy a week before her wedding.
She held her sister responsible for her misery.
“I believe the reporters outside are waiting for me.”
Hearing his comment, Matilda raised her brow. She had thought the reporter was there because of her, so she doesn’t quite understand what Hector was saying.
She locks her gaze on him. Her eyes were soft, but they were curious. “What makes you think they’re here for you?”
Hector breathed out.
He was well aware that if the media caught him with a lady, he would be chastised by his grandfather.
“I’m getting married the following week.” Hector said, and his words sounded like a boom in her ears.
Her eyes were wide open in surprise as she peered at him.
What a strange coincidence.
