Chapter Four: Dinner with Mr Taylor

1341 Words
Marcus P.O.V I felt her eyes on me as I drove. I found it cute the way she quickly turned away when she realised she got caught. I don’t mind her looking at me especially with the way I was looking at her when she appeared in front of me with that dress on. I could not take my eyes off her. I have always had one rule…one rule that until this day I have followed…never mix business with pleasure cause it ends in disaster and that is what I meant when I said to her she was gonna be trouble for me. I was attracted to her and I am not gonna deny it. I aint gonna lie about the dirty thoughts I have had about her over the last 24 hours. I know I should not be thinking this was about her, I could not help myself. I have not been intrigued by a woman in this way for a long time. I pulled up outside the restaurant, parking in my private space that I used anytime I come here. I jumped out of the car, running around to the passenger’s side, opening it and extending my hand to her. She gave me a shy smile, placing her hand in mine, letting me help her out. “Thank You.” She smiled sweetly I wrapped my arm around her waist, locking my car and leading us inside. I never had to tell anyone who I was, they all knew. We were seated within seconds. I pulled Hope’s chair out for her, letting her sit before taking my own seat across from her. I watch Hope as she looked around, mesmerised with the place…with the people. I could tell she was not used to these kind of places. “Marcus!” I heard from behind me…Dale “Dale.” I said, smiling, getting up to greet him with a quick hug “How is it going? I have not seen you in a couple of weeks.” He smiled “I know, sorry about that. I have been really busy with work. How’s things?” I asked “Good…actually great. Business is booming…just found out that Sean and I have been accepted by the adoption agency so we could finally be getting our baby.” He gushed Dale and Sean have been together for about eight years now and they always wanted a family but first they want to make sure they had their business up and running, their own home and enough to make sure they can support a child in every way they can. “That is great news. I am so happy for you both.” I gushed back “Obviously there is still a lot of work to do…paper work and things but we are getting one step closer every day.” he smiled widely “Congratulation. I wish you all the best.” I said hugging him again “Thank You Marcus.” He smiled “And who may this very beautiful woman be?” he asked, looking at Hope Hope giggled, blushing, making Dale and I laugh. “This is Hope. She will be replacing Rosa when she goes. Hope my best friend and co-owner of this place…Dale.” I smiled introducing them to each other “It is nice to meet you Miss Hope. I hope Marcus is being nice to you?” Dale laughed shaking her hand “You to Dale. This place is amazing. I cannot wait to taste the food.” Hope gushed “And yes he is being nice enough at the moment.” She added giggling “Thank You. Well if he turns into a jackass make sure you tell him off, he needs a good kick up the ass sometimes.” Dale chuckled, patting my back “I am sure I can get fired for doing that.” Hope giggled “He fires you I will kick his ass for him.” Dale laughed Dale and Hope spent the next few moments chatting, ganging up on me the pair of meanies that they are. I knew they were only messing with me though. “Right guys I better get back too it. Here is your menus. It was nice meeting you Hope, probably see you again soon.” Dale smiled Dale said goodbye to us before leaving us too it. Hope was still giggling a little “I like him…he is funny.” She laughed “Yes he is and he knows it.” I laughed I handed Hope a menu, letting her have a look through it. I knew what I wanted…my usual seafood platter…it was the best in the city…fresh and delicious. “Everything cost so much.” Hope said looking up at me “Don’t worry about that. I eat here for free, get what you want.” I smiled She nodded, getting back to the menu. She was concentrating hard on the menu, her tongue poking out the side of her mouth slightly. It was cute. “I think I will have seafood platter.” She smiled widely The girl has good taste in food. “Good choice. I always get that when I am in here.” I smiled I motioned for a server to come over, giving them our orders. It only took moments for them to get to the table, smiling brightly. I told them our orders, letting them write it down “Can we have a bottle of your house wine please…white? The best you have?” I smiled “Sure thing Sir.” The server smiled heading off I turned my full attention back to Hope who was sitting seeming anxious again. The girl needs to learn how to relax better. I reached over the table, placing my hand over hers, making her look me in the eye “Can you please relax Hope? It is only dinner.” I chuckled “Sorry. I am not used to places like this, feel a little out of place if I am being honest.” She said quietly I knew she was not used to places like this but with that dress on to me she was fitting in perfectly, not like it should matter if she is the same as everyone else in here. I gave her hand a squeeze, giving her my most friendly smile “You should not feel out of place Hope. You have the same right as everyone else to be in here.” I said She nodded, manging to give me a smile, her body seeming to relax. I pulled my hand away from hers quickly realising it was happening again…I was treating her the way I treat my dates but this is not a date…it’s work and I need to stop getting those two things confused. A silence fell between us as our wine arrived, the waiter pouring us a glass each. I would need to call my driver to come pick us up after our meal cause I am not one for drinking and driving. I would get someone to pick my car up for me. “Oh my God this is best seafood I have ever tasted.” Hope groaned as she took her first bite I chuckled at her excitement, making her fall silent and blush, looking everywhere expect at me. She really was adorable without even knowing it. “I am glad you are enjoying it.” I smiled She nodded, taking another bite. I started on my own food, not wanting to make her feel anymore awkward that she already was. I was hoping after dinner she would not rush off cause I wanted to spent a little more time with her outside of the office.
