Chapter Five : Relaxing around Mr Taylor

1478 Words
Hope’s P.O.V I had found myself relaxing around Marcus now, maybe it was the couple of glasses of wine I had, either way I was not feeling as awkward and out of place. The food? Oh My God let me tell you about that food, it was incredible…the best I have ever tasted. Marcus and I decided a couple of glasses would be enough since we are both working tomorrow, don’t want to go to work on my second day with a headache. “Ready to go?” Marcus asked smiling at me “I will get my driver to drop you off before he takes me home.” He added “Thank You. And thank you for dinner, it was delicious.” I smiled at him “Anytime.” He smiled “Thank you for your company.” He added Marcus helped me with my coat, calling his driver to come get us. The two of us said goodbye to Dale, Dale making sure I promised to come back sometime which I agreed too. Marcus placed his hand on the small of my back, leading us out to wait for his car. I was glad I brought my jacket, it had gotten pretty cold now. It never took long for the car to pull out, the driver getting out to greet us. “Good evening Wes, how are you?” Marcus smiled at him “Good Sir. How was your meal?” Wes smiled back at him “Really good thank you. Wes this is my new assistant and hopefully a friend Hope…Hope Wes a good friend and my driver.” He said smiling “Good evening mam, it is nice to meet you, hope he is being nice?” Wes chuckled “Hi, you too. Yes he is being nice thus far.” I giggled After our conversation, Marcus giving him my address, he opened the door for us, letting us climb in before he climbed into the front seat and getting on our way. A silence fell between us at first as we drove. I could see him from the corner of my eye looking at me from time to time. I never let on to him that I could see him doing it that would make things awkward again. The drive to my place was short and once we pulled up outside, Marcus telling Wes he would be back soon, insisting on walking me to my front door. “Do you want me to swing by and pick you up tomorrow? I know you don’t drive.” He said as we approached my front door “I don’t wanna be a bother.” I said “You won’t be. I pass here on the way, my car will get taken back to my house later which is not bother at all.” He smiled “OK thank you, appreciate that.” I smiled Marcus and I said our goodbyes before I headed into my apartment. I was gonna ask him to come in for a coffee, decided against it cause would be a little inappropriate. I decided I should get myself organised for my bed since it was getting late still needed to get a shower and get things ready for work tomorrow, though at least with him picking up I could lay in bed a little longer…YEAH! I went to grab my phone from my bag, realising I never had my bag. Where the heck is it? I looked everywhere for it but couldn’t find it. Damn I must have left the bag in the car once I took my keys out. I needed it back, needed my phone for my alarm plus my purse was in it too. I remembered I received a business card from Marcus when I had my interview, deciding to look for that and hoping his mobile was on it. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find it, damn it was probably in my purse. How the heck am I gonna get it back now? Wonder if his number is online? I grabbed my laptop, setting it up and just as I did there was knock at my front door…please let that be either Wes or Marcus with my bag? I rushed over to the door, looking through the peephole and felt relived, Marcus was at the other side, my bag in his hand. I quickly opened the door “I think this belongs to you?” he chuckled “Yes. Thank God, thank you bringing it back to me.” I said grateful “You are welcome, thought you would be needing it and worrying where it was.” He smiled “I was. You wanna come in or is Wes waiting for you? The least I can do is make you a coffee?” I smiled “I sent him home, will call a cab. And yes a coffee would be good thank you.” He said I was still a little confused about him. When we met at my interview he was stern, hard and seemed a little cold, maybe that was unfair yet today/tonight he has been completely different…nice and sweet. I don’t know maybe he needs to be that way at work but outside of work he wasn’t like that. I would find out over time I guess. I stepped aside, letting him come in and closed the door behind. I motioned him to follow me to the kitchen to make us some coffee. I was feeling slightly shy again around him. I was not sure why since we had spent most of the night together. I made us both a coffee, not need to ask how he liked it cause I knew since he told me when he gave me the job. “Thank You.” He said as I handed it to him “Wanna go through and sit?” I asked, my voice quiet and shaky “Yes in one condition?” he said, in return I gave him a look of confusion “Stop getting so nervous around me Hope, thought we got over that at dinner?” he added laughing “Sorry.” I said looking at the ground “Come on.” He laughed heading through to the living room, motioning me to follow him which I did. Marcus took a seat on my sofa and I joined him. I for some reason I cannot understand made sure there was a distance between him and I. It was hard to explain what he does to me when he is close, all I know it makes me feel things I shouldn’t be feeling towards my boss. A silence filled the room as we sipped our coffee. I could feel looking at me out the corner of my eye. I slowly turned to face him which made him pull his eyes away from me, clearing his throat. A small giggled slipped from my lips accidently and I soon covered my mouth with my hand. “Is there a reason you are laughing at Miss Hope?” He asked looking at me, a devilish smirk on his lips “Um…don’t know what you mean?” I laughed Marcus turned his body around so he was face on to me, resting one elbow on the back of the sofa. He was looking at me patiently, waiting for me to answer his question, with the truth this time. “Um…I saw you watching me before you pulled away.” I said rubbing the back of my neck “You caught that uh?” he said and I nodded “Sorry, that is inappropriate of me to look at you that way.” He added “It is OK.” I said shyly pushing my hair behind my ear His eyes met mine, his hand reaching in pushing a bit of hair that I missed. I swallowed hard, a small whimper escaping my lips and he was quick to pull away, apologising to me again, his eyes not leaving mine still. “I should call a cab to go home, it is getting late.” He said quickly I nodded. It was probably for the best that way. He grabbed his phone calling a cab. I walked him to the door “See you in the morning Hope. I will pick you up at 715a.m.” he smiled “See you then. Goodnight boss.” I smiled He chuckled, heading out. I closed the door over, leaning against it and sighing. I do not know what that was about, whatever it was I hope it does not continue.
