The Father's Choice

Act 8 Scene 1

(It's early in the morning at Daddy's house, Yemisi is dressing up for school then her mother is going to her room with the aim of going to wake her up for school)

Mama Yemisi:

(knocks the door to her children's room and entered without waiting for response because she thought they are still sleeping, but she was surprised when she met Yemisi almost done dressing)

Wow!

Yemisi:

(kneels down to greet her mother) Good morning ma.

Mama Yemisi:

Morning, my daughter. How was your night?

Yemisi:

Good ma. (she stands to her feet)

Mama Yemisi:

So, what are you up to this morning? This is unusual of you.

Yemisi:

Oh! Have you forgotten that it is today that we are submitting our project?

Mama Yemisi:

Really? I've forgotten. But you should have told me yesterday, so that I will be able to wake up as early as possible to get you something to eat and to also take to school.

Yemisi:

I'm sorry mum. It escaped my mind. But I have sorted myself out.

Mama Yemisi:

Hmm. How?

Yemisi:

Have prepared some noodles for myself.

Mama Yemisi:

Wow! That's good of you. But will that only be enough for you? What about your break food?

Yemisi:

Mummy, don't worry about that.

Mama Yemisi:

Okay dear. Hope you are not getting late? Be fast about what you are doing.

Yemisi:

Not really. I still have some minutes. But mum, I overheard our step-mom crying yesterday, what was the matter?

Mama Yemisi:

Oh! It's your father again. He said he wants to marry another wife.

Yemisi:

(Surprised) What? Daddy is now turning to something else. God will deliver him.

Mama Yemisi:

Amen! It's time to go. God will be with you my daughter and I wish you best of luck.

Yemisi:

Amen! Thank you mum. (She hugged her mother and go)
