She appeared to be deep in thought a sign indicating that whatever it was that was bothering Alexandra had to be pretty serious. For the past few weeks her goddaughter had been doing this a lot, always getting lost in her own little world. Corey couldn’t help but wonder if it had anything to do with the big boss Tyler. He knew Alexandra’s father exerted a lot of pressure on her daughter. Their line of work required one to be on high alert also maintain focus at all times. One could not afford being caught unmindful, it could definitely get your life knocked out of you instantly. The LAPD had been hot on their tails for a while due to a street shooting that led to two civilians losing their lives. There were also some rumors of an influential girl being kidnapped but this was yet to be establish. This meant that they were under close watch by the LAPD police force now. Despite all this happening Alexandra had been acting very weirdly. Corey loved her goddaughter but he sometimes felt bad for having her in this kind of life style. Joining Tyler’s business had been her idea, as she wanted to please her father after the great loss the T’s gang suffered. “God father? Are you okay?” Alex asks when she notices bill counter had stopped. They were both seated at the basement of the Steadman car dealership counting the cash before transferring it to the Mediterranean Insurance company. “Yes but I having been wanting to talk to you Alexandra,” Corey says getting up from his chair. He rounded the desk and went to sit on the couch in the middle of the room. Corey had remodeled the basement to an office into his office. It had an open space with a small bar at the right and. He had two leather coach lined at the other side of the wall and a huge TV by the door facing his desk. At the center of the room sat another table, a round one, this one had the banknote counter and three seats. Alex remains still watching him. “Come on now dear. Come sit with your old man.” Corey patted the spot next to him motioning her to come forward. Alex hesitantly gets up and approaches the couch. “Godfather is it about the Styx cl…” “No. Not really, I want to talk about you. We can talk about that issue later. I want to know what happening with you sweetie.” “Oh OK…” “Please don’t lie to me Alexandra I can tell when you do,” Corey says signaling to her right hand that had been scratching her earlobe. She unconsciously did that when she was in a lot of pressure. “It’s really nothing godfather,” Alex said trying to smile but her expression seemed impassive. Corey gets up from the coach and goes to his liquor cabinet. He used to give her some time to gather her thoughts. Corey gets out some scotch pouring it in two glasses. He walks back to her goddaughter offering her one. Alex takes the glass hesitantly thanking him. “Does it have to do with your father? I could always talk to him if he is being too hard on you sweetie.” “No not really godfather.” “Are you sure. I’ve known Tyler for the longest time and he can be such a hard nut…” “Godfather have you ever found yourself thinking about something and no matter what you do it still finds a way to creep back into your mind? I mean did you ever have something by mistake but after returning it you cannot keep your mind off it,” Alex explains to him in the vaguest way she could. “What do you mean Alexandra? No more fables just say it as it is.” “Mm… Ok. I might have took something out by mistake and after returning it safely I can’t stop thinking about it Godfather.” “OK. I think I’m beginning to grasp what you mean, so hypothetically speaking we are assuming you were with someone recently and you cannot stop thinking about them,” Corey asks watching Alexandra closely. “Yeah hypothetically speaking obviously,” she adds with her fidgeting increasing as the shade of her face darkened indicating Corey had struck the nail right on the head. “You cannot stop thinking about them huh?” Corey asks grinning at Alexandra who nods before taking a huge gulp of the scotch. “Well was it a good date for the both of you?” “For her it wasn’t. She was terrified,” Alexandra says remembering how she had been when she finally came too. Her eyes screamed panic and she was awfully terrified, “For the most part of it, she was out of it.” “So it’s a girl. What did you do Alexandra? You were rude to her weren’t you?” Corey asks getting interested with the topic of Alexandra’s date. Whomever this woman was she was definitely distressing her goddaughter. Which was good. Alexandra definitely needed that kind of excitement in her life. “Was she pretty?” “She was very cute and adorable, but it doesn’t matter godfather I cannot afford such distractions in my life. I need to concen…” “Ssshh what you need sweetie is to think about you. If that girl is something special Alexandra, you cannot let her pass you by Alexandra. Sometimes after all is done love is what we truly need sweetie. Think about it. What’s her name anyway?” “Godfather its ju…” “Stop over thinking it.” Corey says patting her knees, “Just go for it if she is worth it, remember your godfather is always right always remember that Alexandra. So about Styx when did you say you’ll get to pick?” “Godfather,” Alex calls making Corey stop. “Mm” “Hermione.” “What?” “That’s her name godfather,” Alex says making Corey smile broadly at her, “thank you Godfather.” She finished and got up to hug her. “You are the best.” “Ahem!” A throat clearing at the end of the room got their attention as the two separated. “Tyler what are you doing here?” Corey asks first as he approaches his friend giving him a firm handshake and a side hug. Alexandra straightens herself before approaching her father. “Good evening father. How was your day,” She asks after politely kissing his cheeks in greeting. “Alexandra, it was good, what are you doing here? I thought you’d be at Shay’s overlooking things.” “I already did father. I took care of everything,” Alex says in a rushed manner. “We won’t be having any problem with Shaw Dukes.” “Ok that’s good to know. Though you have to head back there,” Tyler said addressing her daughter, who nodded at his request. “Come on Tyler give her a break. I don’t want you killing my little baby,” Corey says interrupting the two. Communication between the two had been stiff no matter what he tried to help. “I’ll be leaving now father, godfather,” Alex says walking away living the two gentlemen to talk. Alex makes her way to the black discovery 4 sitting elegantly on the Steadman car park filled with posh cars. Even with the rush hour she’d make it back to Shays in a few minutes. “Alex?” Aisha called as she entered her office, Aisha was seated in her desk chair doing some inventory, “What took you long?” she asks setting the papers down. “Nothing much I was just at Corey’s. Why did anything happen?” she asks removing the denim jacket she had on. “No but Jake said he wouldn’t be coming in tonight, again.” She says and I nod in acknowledgment. “I can’t believe he ditched us again. It’s almost weekend and he knows how the club gets jam-packed.” “Huh. I don’t know.” “Come to think of it he has been acting all weird. I wonder what’s wrong with him.” “Huh.” Jake had been like that since that day. I thought we were fine when we parted ways but I guess not. ~~~~~~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alex punches the steering wheel hard that the loud honking wakes the girl next to her. As if noticing her movements, Jake steps away slamming the passenger side waking Amber completely. Amber tries to speak but the tape on her mouth hinders her and she looks around her frantically. Her arms and legs are bound to and she realizes how in deep she is. Whomever kidnapped bound her tightly and safely she cannot realize herself. Alexandra on her part is fast enough and knocks the girl unconscious again with the same maneuver she used earlier. Amber falls limp on her right arm and Alex pushes her back to the passenger seed. She gets out of the car and approaches Jake who is now packing up his stuff ready to live. In their years working together Alexandra had never messed up big time. He thought Lexa was ready to fly solo but it seemed he was very wrong, she had a long way to go before attempting to help her again do something as risky as this without Mr. Tyler’s knowledge. If Alexandra’s father got wind of this the two of them would have hell to pay especially him for aiding Lexa. “What do we do Jake,” Alex asks looking at her friend. The blonde she had taken was still passed out in her car. “How could mistake two totally different people,” Jake asks still shocked beyond worlds. Jazmin and the girl seating in Lexa’s car were worlds apart nothing identical about them. “They are freaking opposites.” “I’m sorry man. I…I… ugh,” she says kicking the front wheel. She knew she was in deep s**t. You couldn’t just take the wrong person without consequences. And the girl unconscious in her car came from an influential family too. “Did you even read anything I sent you Lexa?” Jakes asks looking at her friend suspiciously, “I even sent you her picture and a GPS phone tracker.” “I did use the tracke…” “Yet you got an entirely different person.” “How could I know that if the tracker led me straight to her,” Alex shouts her frustration boiling, I mean it is true the tracker led her to the girl. “Did you even read the profile I sent you at all?” “I did not but that’s not the point Jake…I mean what do we do?” “Let’s kill her…She must have seen our faces. We cannot risk this getting out Lexa,” Jake says pulling his handgun out. He starts walking to towards the car but Alexandra runs and stops in front of him. “No we can’t Jake,” Alex says trying to halt his movements, “she’s innocent” “She saw our face Lexa, now move!” he says eyeing her down. His glare enough to burn down an entire field. “NO! I won’t let you Jake.” “Move Lexa! I’m doing this for you,” he says pushing her aside. Alex trips but manages to catch herself. He shoves Jake back and follows through with a punch that makes him stumble back. “I’ll take care of this Jake!” Alex says rubbing her knuckles that were now hurting like a sucker. “Goodbye.” Alex runs off to her side and gets in but not before throwing him an apology to her friend. She felt bad for hitting him but he had too. Jake was overwhelmed with paranoia that he’d kill the girl besides dumping the body would be extra work that she was not cut out for. So she hurriedly comes up with her own solution, saving the girl and herself too. Alexandra drops her at the hospital, outside the emergency wing. She had cut her but not deep just enough to show she had some altercations with bad people (her.) She took her purse but not stuffing her pockets with cash and the two phones. Just to make sure she was able to get home. Alex pulls out from her spot at the hospital as soon as she sees Amber getting in the cab. The girl looks fine from where she’s seated. Wanting to make sure that she get home safe she tails the cab for a while before she reprimands herself. What Alex was doing was crazy and careless. What if she recognized her and called the cops on her. It was also dumb to leave Amber with her phone but all Alex wanted was make sure she could be able to get herself home. Today she made a mistake and it would be her first and last.
