Six years later.
Alpha Nick Sean watched as the fire he set on the man laying in front of him crisped. He felt contentment course through his veins as his lips lifted into an evil smirk. He pictured the rogue as Alpha Fenrir while he gave him the brutal death he deserved.
He stared until the rouge’s figure reduced to bones and the fire that licked his flesh died down along with it. Looking up at the elders of the pack, the smirk on his face contorted into a deep frown when he noticed the disapproving looks on their faces.
But he didn’t care. The rogue shouldn’t have come into his pack and attempted stealing in an open market.
“Nick!” Someone yelled from the entrance of the court. Alpha Nick raised his head to see who it and just like he expected, it was his twin brother and Beta, Nicolai.
He didn’t like him very much, especially after the incident that happened six years ago. Alpha Nick perceived his twin as a weak werewolf because he wasn’t as tough-hearted as he was.
“What did you do?” He stormed into the court with an angry look on his face.
Alpha Nick knew he was about to be chastised about killing someone in a brutal way like this, but he wouldn’t regret it.
“I killed him. Also Nicolai, you are my Beta so you better stay within your limits,” he warned as he stood up to his feet. “You may go now,” he waved his hand towards the elders who stood up from their seats and scurried out of the court immediately.
They were always in constant fear of the temperamental Alpha, who could be in a good mood in one second, then go ahead to brutally rip your head off your body in the next.
“This is not you, brother. You are punishing these poor people because of someone that has probably forgotten about what happened all those years ago.” He said in a calm tone as he approached his brother, skipping over the burnt corpse of the man Alpha Nick just set on fire.
He scoffed as he shook his head. It was just like yesterday when Alpha Fenrir killed his father in front of him, then spat on his dead body. He couldn’t just forgive him. He was going to destroy him in ways he couldn’t imagine.
“He might have forgotten about it, but he had messed with the wrong son that day. ”He walked up to his twin brother, towering over him significantly.
Alpha Nick has spent a lot of time training on how to exert his revenge that he had become a monster. He fed off other people’s pain to satisfy himself. He has fantasies about chopping Alpha Fenrir’s body off, and the thought of it alone gave him immeasurable satisfaction.
“You are going to get yourself killed. You can’t possibly go up against him. You know he will kill you.” Nicolai explained.
“Then I would die happily knowing I left this world while trying to avenge the death of my father,” he turned his gaze to his brother. “You might be a coward, but I am far from being that.” He pointed a finger at his chest.
Nicolai shook his head and sighed. He didn’t know why his brother didn’t want to listen to him. He pressed his fingers on the bridge of his nose as he replayed the plan he had in his mind.
“You won’t die. Don’t be selfish. Mother needs you. She can’t lose you to the same person she lost father to. I need you to listen to me because I have a plan.” Nicolai stated as he placed a hand on Alpha Nick’s shoulder.
“If that plan doesn’t include the misery and death of Alpha Fenrir, then I don’t want to hear it.” Alpha Nick uttered in a serious tone.
“Yes. It includes the misery of Alpha Fenrir and subsequently his death, but at least not immediately. Even father, who had much more experience on being a greater Alpha than you couldn’t kill him spontaneously, why do you think you can?” Nicolai questioned.
“Father didn’t train on how to kill someone for six years.” Alpha Nick shrugged.
He had an unhealthy obsession with Alpha Fenrir since he killed his father. He knew everything there was to know about him, and he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike him off guard, just as he did to their father.
“Even though. What I’m trying to say is you should not put yourself at the risk of going into a fight with a powerful man like Alpha Fenrir who has witches that help him and a griffin that guards him.” Nicolai explained.
Alpha Nick shrugged lightly. He had a few witches in his pack too, but not a griffin. Only mated Alphas could get a griffin, and he hasn’t been mated. He didn’t even want to. Love was nothing but a sign of weakness to him.
“So what do you have in mind, brother?” He asked, for the first time since he became Alpha. He didn’t like listening to anything his brother or mother said because it was always about forgiveness. Unfortunately, he couldn’t forgive someone that killed his father in front of him.
“You might need to sit down for this,” he led his brother to his throne and sat him down, then sat on his seat which was lower than his. “It is about his daughter.”
Alpha Nick resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He didn’t want to drag anyone in this fight that wasn’t Alpha Fenrir, just like he didn’t drag him into their fight with his father on the battleground six years ago.
“I don’t want to do that. I can’t drag an innocent lady into this.” He declined.
Even though he hated him, his daughter had nothing to do with his enmity for him. He also had a strict policy of never hurting women, which might change if he ever laid eyes on someone Alpha Fenrir created.
Nicolai shook his head, turning to face his brother even more, “This isn’t a time to be virtuous. Alpha Fenrir had linked his soul with his daughter. If we could kidnap her, we could find a way to lure him into this pack, then you can do whatever you want to do with him as he is already old and cranky.” He explained.
Alpha Nick’s lips lifted into a genuine smile for the first time in years. He wanted to embrace his brother, but that would be weird because he hadn’t hugged him ever since the death of his father which drew them apart.
“This is a masterpiece Nicolai. How did you discover this information?” He uttered happily.
Nicolai smiled at his twin brother. He was glad that he finally had a source of happiness in his life after all those years of being in constant pain and agony. They were finally going to avenge their father’s death.
“Just a few greased palms.” Nicolai shrugged.
“This is great work brother. Now, we just need to find the daughter of that monster before he goes ahead to marry her off.” Alpha Nick tapped the armrest of his throne as he started to think of possible ways of getting her into the pack.
“That shouldn’t be an issue. The wedding is not supposed to take place in the pack, so we could kidnap her in the place she is staying at or something.” Nicolai stood up from his seat while he stared at his brother unblinkingly.
“We have to pick a date then.”
“Tomorrow is perfect.”
Alpha Nick nodded, “Okay. I will see you there tomorrow.” He extended his hand to shake his brother, which took Nicolai by surprise but he still accepted the handshake.
They weren’t like normal twins. Alpha Nick was superior and he always behaved like it, which Nicolai grew to be resentful of. He had to get used to it with time because he didn’t have much of a choice. He had turned his heels to leave the court when he was called back by his brother.
“Also, Nicolai,” Alpha Nick called out.
“Make sure the horses are strong and ready. Bring backup in case Alpha Fenrir has guards we need to take care of and make sure both our blades are sharpened.” He instructed him.
Nicolai’s jaw ticked. He hated it when his brother instructed him as though he was just his servant just because their mother pushed him out a few minutes before him. He wanted to snarl a rude reply to him, but he knew better not to do that.
“Okay.” He nodded before he left the court as he pushed the thoughts of disrespecting his brother to the back of his brain.
There are better things he needed to start thinking of, like the event that was going to alter their enemy pack’s peace very soon. He started to mentally strategize how they were going to play out the plan he had just presented to the Alpha, his twin brother.
