Six years ago
The wind howled slowly in the battleground as clamor filled the air, blood splattered everywhere, the heads of the unfortunate souls that were lost flying around and people were being killed almost every second that passed. The Lunar Pack was winning.
They had killed most of the people from the other pack, which were the people of the Aurora Clan Pack. Nick was convinced he was going to be killed. He looked around at all the guards that used to protect him getting slaughtered by the rivaling pack’s guards. This was his first time in a battleground.
His father had warned him. He should have stayed back in the palace and waited for all of this to be over. The Lunar Pack came into their pack while they were unprepared due to the feud the Alphas had between themselves.
“How dare you come into my pack while I’m unprepared Fenrir? Is this how low you can sink?” The voice of Nick’s father, Alpha Sean thundered behind them, which caught all of the soldiers unawares.
“This is how it is supposed to be. You shouldn’t have taken what is mine, Sean. You tried to sabotage the wrong person.” Alpha Fenrir of Lunar Pack thundered, which riled up Alpha Sean.
Nick was scared. He had never seen his father this angry. He never showed any of his emotions to his children apart from happiness, even though they knew that he had his own bad days despite being the Alpha.
The tumult in the air died down as his father charged toward Alpha Fenrir. He was blinded by ire. He didn’t notice when Alpha Fenrir brought out a charm from the inside of his cloak. Nick saw it. He wanted to stop his father.
He ran in the direction to stop his father, but a guard caught him. No one was supposed to interrupt the fight of the Alphas, or else they would create a blood moon where a werewolf had to be sacrificed every half of a century.
“Father nooo!” He yelled at his father to stop, but it was too late.
Alpha Sean had brought out his sword ready to s*******r when Alpha Fenrir blew some charm dust on his face which made him stumble back to the ground. He fell on a dead body as confusion started to course through his veins.
He was about to get up to his feet when Alpha Fenrir stabbed him with his sword, Alpha Sean’s blood splattering all around. Nick’s blood drained out of his face as he witnessed the gruesome death of his father. He was stabbed multiple times until his meat started to splatter out of his dead system.
The once vibrant Alpha Sean was now reduced to a mess of meat and blood in the battleground. He looked unrecognizable. Nick wiggled out of the guard's hold with all his might and rushed towards his father as tears started to fall out of his eyes.
“No please, no. He can’t be dead.” He shook what was remaining of his father's upper torso. His hands were filled with his father’s blood which made him retch. He couldn’t believe his father was gone.
“Little wolf,” Alpha Fenrir called, which made Nick raise his head. He had never been filled with loathe as he did now when the killer of his father stood right by him.
He wanted to kill him. He wanted to destroy him in the worst way possible. He was livid.
“I know you’re going to be the next Alpha. So when you do, make sure not to mess with me. I’m Alpha Fenrir, the strongest Alpha this world would ever see. Don’t mess with me or you’ll end up like your pathetic father.” He spat on the dead Alpha’s body before he turned around, the rest of his guards following him as they hurrayed in victory.
Nick, who was now the new Alpha, was shaking in rage. He couldn’t cry anymore. He wasn’t going to be weak and let emotions take a toll on him as they did his father, which caused him to be in a state like this one. He was going to be the most vicious Alpha the world has seen.
He will prove Alpha Fenrir wrong, then kill him in an even worse way than he did to his father.
“Nick!” Farrah, Nick’s mother yelled. She was lurking behind a tree because of her fear of blood. It was too explicit for her.
Nick didn’t have any choice but to stand up and head toward his mother. There was nothing he could do again apart from avenging his father’s death. After he reached the tree, his mother enveloped him in a hug, but he felt nothing.
He didn’t feel the warmth that came with his mother’s arms around him. He felt like his heart had suddenly solidified. No emotions whatsoever coursed through his body anymore.
“It is okay Nick. Please don’t be disheartened. This was bound to happen okay?” Farrah sobbed into her son’s chest.
“It is not. He declared war, and so he will have it.” Nick deadpanned.
He would be damned if his father died for nothing.
“Please Nick, don’t inherit a feud that is not yours. It’s going to have you killed.” His twin brother Nicolai who was standing beside them spoke.
Nick felt angry at him too. He was a coward. Why didn’t he come to the battlefield when they both had reached the legal age to fight in battles?
“You don’t have the right to say anything Nicolai. Father was not killed in front of you, so you have no idea what this feels like.” He spat before he thundered out of the battleground, which was a school some hours ago, but is now torn down due to the fight.
A harsh wind started to blow, which was in response to the tragedy that struck the pack but also, the arrival of the new Alpha of the pack. Alpha Nick Sean. The way he ruled was going to be very different from the way his father did.
He was filled with so much anger and a thirst for vengeance. That was going to be what his reign was based on.
