Nina’s POV
I was getting bored of staying in my room and doing nothing already. When I was being forced out of my pack, I had expected to face some harsh punishment but instead, I was being treated as if I was part of the royalty.
No one came to visit me for the past day except for the guards that checked up on me and brought me food. I was fed four scrumptious meals, and I also have new clothes. I didn’t know how they got my size already but it all fitted perfectly.
I’ve had my anger tantrums and refused to eat for a while because of how scared I was of being trapped by her, but they didn’t care. Nor the guards that were keeping me from escaping or the people that kidnapped me who still haven’t given the slightest clue as to why I was here.
I woke up not too long ago to the sound of someone by my door. I had thought it was the attractive Alpha who had kidnapped me or his equally gorgeous twin but it was none of them. It was a guard peeking in to check on me for the umpteenth time since I came here.
“You good?” He questioned, his voice deep and throaty as though he hadn't had any rest.
“You good?” I repeated the question because he clearly needed it more than I did.
He was silent for a while before he sighed and shook his head sadly, then realization hit him and he quickly switched back to professional mode.
“I see you are good. I should be going now then,” he turned back to leave, but I stopped him before he could go.
“Hey,” I stood up from my bed. “Do you have any orders to not allow me to step out of my room?” I asked him.
He thought for a moment before he shook his head, “No there isn’t, but-“
Before he could say another word, I pushed him out of my way and headed into the palace. I was glad he didn’t try to follow me. The interior was huge. I wanted to look around for my kidnappers and ask them why I was there and when they were going to let me go.
I knew both of my parents were worried sick about me, and my pack was in a frenzy but there was nothing I could do. The guards would never allow me to even smell the fresh air outside the palace.
I started to explore the palace. It was an exquisite one, which looked even better than the one my father had. I had thought that perhaps our palace was hard to top because of how huge it was, but this Alpha had proved me wrong.
The decorations alone in the palace looked like they would cost a fortune. After I had looked around the sitting rooms that looked typically royal, I decided to start checking in the rooms but not before knocking in case it was someone’s room.
I knew it was wrong to do so, but I had to find my kidnappers and also, my boredom and curiosity were taking the best out of me. I checked out a few rooms which didn’t look like they were much of a deal, and some were even locked until I got to a room that intrigued me so much that I had to stumble inside.
It was the most beautiful room I had ever seen in my life. I waited for a moment as I took in the beauty of the black and grey-themed sitting room that was furnished to just the taste of someone that loved exotic materials.
Perhaps it was the room of the Alpha and I was trespassing, but that didn’t bother me. I inhaled a greedy deep breath and let it out. The scent of the room was intoxicating. I could live here forever.
I sat down on the bed to feel the lush and luxurious materials the duvet was made of. I ran my hands through it, suddenly getting lost in my thoughts. I wanted to sleep on it while I cuddled someone I loved and trusted.
The mere thought of that made me blush. I let out a sigh and was about to stand up from the bed when the door burst open. I frowned as I looked up to see the intruder, and my heart nearly stopped at the sight of the man standing in front of me.
It was my kidnapper. My eyes trailed down to the book he was holding in his hands, which made me smirk with mirth. I didn’t take him for the type to read romance. He looked too strong-hearted to have any sort of feelings, so this felt like a discovery.
“What the f**k are you doing in my room?” He thundered, hiding away the book in his mantle but unfortunately for him, I have already seen everything.
His voice sent shivers down my spine. He looked dangerous, like the type of person that would rip someone’s head off in a matter of seconds for no good reason at all. I ducked my head down and stood up from the bed.
“I was just bored and decided to check out the rooms. Why did you kidnap me if you weren’t going to do anything with me?” I questioned him.
His emotions changed in a split second. It morphed beautifully into a softer one. I didn’t know how he did that, but it made a cold shiver run down my body.
“You will find out the reason soon,” he headed towards his drawer and kept the book before he leaned against it. “So tell me, what is your name?” He asked.
I bit my lip as I tried to figure out what he would want to do with me. I was confident that he didn’t bring me here to marry me for my father’s soul because he could just force or threaten me into marrying him.
Also, only a few people know about it. Everyone thinks the action is irrevocable. I have never seen this man in our pack, so there is a huge possibility that he kidnapped me for something else and not to get the rest of my father’s soul from me.
“My name is Nina. What about you?” I asked.
“My name is Nick. Alpha Nick.” He replied.
His name rang a bell in my head. I must have heard about him from somewhere, or maybe I just knew someone that had his name that I couldn’t remember. I decided to shrug it off. I didn’t want to overthink it.
“Okay then,” I nodded. “I didn’t take you for the romantic type,” I said mockingly but regretted it as soon as the words left my mouth because of the look on his face.
He frowned again and looked away.
“It is not my book. I got it from my sister’s room.” He explained.
“There is nothing to be ashamed of. I mean, reading romance books doesn’t make you look weak as a man. In fact, I like men that read books.” I rambled nervously.
I bit my lips when I realized what I had just said. I hoped he didn’t take it the wrong way, because I was certainly not flirting with him.
“You know what?” He raised a brow as he took a step toward me, and I quickly took another one behind as my heart somersaulted in its cage.
“What?” I replied curtly.
“You are the hostage here,” he said, taking a glance at my hair and his pupils dilated for a moment. “Behave like one.” He added, his voice sounding deeper than it did a second ago.
“I am behaving like the hostage here Alpha Nick,” I whispered. Fear had gripped me in dread of what he was going to do next.
I mean, he hadn’t just kidnapped me to keep me as a decoration. He either had a positive intention towards me or a negative, and my guts were screaming that they were negative by the dreadful look in his eyes.
“Go back to your room, Nina.” He took a step back.
I bit my lip and nodded before I quickly scurried out of the room. I shouldn’t have come here or tried to talk the way I wanted with the man that kidnapped me. I was going to go back to my room and stay until they decided what they wanted to do with me.
As I headed towards my room, all I could think about was Alpha Nick’s face. I liked that he was always poker-faced, which made him look significantly hotter and manlier. I sighed dreamily. Perhaps it was my own case of Stockholm syndrome that was talking here, but I felt attached to what shouldn’t even be there.
He was my kidnapper. It should remain that way. When I got to my room, I found my bodyguard standing at my door with a frown on his face.
“What?” I raised a brow.
“Get in. You are not leaving this room anytime soon.” He gritted his teeth.
I sighed before I walked into the room, accepting my fate as it was.
