Three days later.
On a chilly early morning, two figures stood outside the park. One was Ernest Teucher; he was wearing a jersey and standing in front of the main gate, sipping from a sports drink bottle while moving his shoulders up and down lightly. The other was Christine Cryoniliese; she was quite a distance away and panting from fatigue, running towards the tree.
Prior to gaining a system, Ernest had no magic so he set intense training routines for himself. But he felt stuck until he received a system that makes his power grow unprecedentedly.
[Daily Quest Level 2:
100 Push-ups
100 Squats
100 Sit-ups
20-kilometer run.
]
With this new set of routines, there’s no doubt that Ernest wouldn’t maintain his physical fitness. Those twenty-kilometers weren’t some light jogging; he sprinted at full speed and changed the rhythm often to strain his heart and lungs. Christine, who had been living at his house three days ago, also joined his daily routine.
On the first day, Christine collapsed along the road. On the second, she threw up. Because of that, Ernest started to match her pace for today, the third day.
“Didn’t I say not to mind me?”
But when he dropped his speed, Christine shouted at Ernest with an intensity he hadn’t seen before, so he ran, as usual, today too. And today, though there was quite a delay, she made sure to reach him.
‘As I thought, Christine really is amazing.’
As she staggered to the gate, Ernest admired Christine’s figure. She possessed great talent in magic but also trained herself physically. He had to acknowledge that he continued to improve without relying solely on her talent.
“Haa.Haaa—! Goooaal!....”
“Well done.”
“I-I’m fine...th-this much is—”
She was so exhausted that her clothes were damp with sweat. That was some amazing willpower. Ernest watched Christine breathe heavily, and offered her the beverage he had just been consuming.
“Here, want some?”
Stella stared at the bottle with a bewildered expression.
“Eh isn’t that…”
“A sports drink.”
“...an indirect kiss.”
“Ah. You don’t want it because my lips touched it, right? Sorry, I’ll get you a new one.”
“I-I didn’t say I don’t want it! If anything, the other way around.”
“The other way around?”
“N-N-Nothing, you i***t! Give it to me!”
‘Ah, of all places, she drank from where I put my mouth.’
Christine took the bottle with her face even redder than running had made it, and Ernest wasn’t fast enough pointing that out. Feeling apologetic, he ducked away from Christine’s gaze to look at the flat canyon, where there was a signboard indicating no trespassing.
“Anyways, what are we doing here? I know a lot of parks in the kingdom but I haven’t been here.”
“That’s okay since that canyon is one of the most deserted places in the kingdom. It’s also a perfect place where I would test something.”
“Ah, I see. Anyways, I noticed that you look happy today.”
“Do I? Actually, there’s someone we were waiting for to head at the canyon.”
“...I don’t suppose you’re talking about a girl?”
‘Huh? I feel killing intent.’
“Yes...you already met her.”
“Farewell.”
“Wait, wait! Put down your claymore and listen to the rest! I’m talking about Sophia.”
“Sophia? Ah, your sister. Come to think of it, I have one question I’ve been meaning to ask you. Sophia is your sister connected by blood, right?”
“Yeah, she’s just a normal blood-related sibling you’d find in any family. Why?”
“Then I’ll forgive you.”
Why was he being forgiven? Ernest didn’t quite get it, but his policy was to avoid things he couldn’t understand. Ernest looked at the signboard again.
“I’m here brother!”
Christine and Ernest looked at the source of sound where a girl wearing a tracksuit is waving at them.
“She’s here.”
She appears to be carrying a picnic basket.
“You’re about time, Sophia. Thank you for carrying this much. I appreciated it.”
“Don’t mind it, brother. To be honest, this task is easier than yours.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean you're escorting the princess…”
“Ah, I do find it hard.” Ernest glanced at Christine who had an embarrassed look.
“Oy, shouldn’t we head to the canyon now? I thought you’re going to experiment with something.”
“Yep, I completely forgot about that. Sorry.”
With that, the three entered the canyon. They’d decided not to go far away from the park to not get lost. This vast brown land in the kingdom is perfect for practicing new skills. Even though he doesn’t have skills in the past, he had heard about this place from the Adventurer’s Building.
No people, no animals, no plants. What a perfect place to practice the skill he had gained from acquiring Galatine.
“Don’t tell me, you’re going to use my Noble Art?”
“Nope, I won’t use that.”
“Then what are you going to experiment with? As far as I know, you only have Thunder Strike and Firebolt. You won’t need a place as wide as this to practice it.”
“You’re wrong...Christine just watched.”
With a confident smile across his face, Ernest prepared.
First, the unused experience points. Since the daily quest leveled to two, the rewards increased. Instead of receiving 10 status points, he’ll receive 15. It’s been three days, making it 45. For the mission he completed where he demonstrated himself by clearing a B-Class dungeon and fighting with Christine, he received 10 status points. The experience points he received made his level increase one, receiving five points. In total, he has 60 points in which he allocated equally to all his stats. Which is 12 per attribute.
His current stats are now:
[User: Ernest Teucher.

Settling that aside, Ernest called.
“Come forth! Galatine.”
A divine sword that was received from a luxury box. A weapon from a different world materializes in his hand. The moment it appeared in this world, sunlight pierced the clouds and shone upon him like a spotlight. It was the grand entrance of the sun’s sword.
Meanwhile, Christine, who had just seen his new weapon, was dumbfounded. She was adept in magic and could sense magic from any item. But what’s more surprising is that the sword he is currently wielding contains enormous and ominous power.
‘It is too strong, too strong than my Lævateinn.’
A person with no special lineage, possessed a powerful sword? The more she learned the more she grew curious about Ernest.
‘Who are you?’
“Stand back! This is my first time using this sword so for your protection, it’ll be better to stay behind me.”
“I’ll protect Sophia.”
“Okay thank you!”
Ernest holds tightly on the hilt of Galatine. He could feel ominous power entering his body. Not only that. He somehow learned something by just holding it.
‘An incantation?’
[To activate the skill, the user must chant the following: The blade of this holy sword is a copy of the sun itself. Holy sword of the stars, swing once again! Excalibur Galatine: Sword of Revolving Victory.]
Ernest memorized the incantation again and again until he got it. Now, after spending about a minute, he was ready to unleash the power of his newfound sword.
The blade is a copy of the sun itself.
At this moment, the sword suddenly levitated and turned into a small-scale sun. The scorching heat coming from it is enough to sizzle the entirety of the surroundings.
“This is dangerous! Ernest stop!”
Christine looked back, protecting Sophia in her embrace. The park where they stopped earlier turned into ashes.
But Ernest continued as he didn’t hear Christine’s words.
Holy sword of the stars, swing once again!
A pseudo-sun above him turned into a dazzling sword. It was shining brightly to the point that it could be seen from hundreds of kilometers away.
It returned to his grasp. Fueled with the power of the Sun.
His body was shining radiantly.
Ernest pointed the sword up in the sky as if he knew what to do next. The golden brilliance covering the sword burned with more fury and heat and soon lost its form, taking the shape of a pillar of light that melted everything around him, even the ground was turned into molten lava.
It was similar to Christine’s Noble Art. The blade extended a hundred meters was shining with the sun’s own brilliance.
“ERNEST!! STOP!!”
Christine, who had erected a magic barrier, couldn't maintain it anymore. Any more than this could threaten her and Sophia’s life.
“Brother please STOP!!!” Sophia shouted.
Now at the end, Ernest has to say the one last line. With that, he’ll be able to unleash the fury of the sun.
Excalibur Galatine: Sword of Revolving Victory.
The pillar of light descended and mowed everything in front of him. His vision turned white and the roaring sound of the wind silenced the world.
The light faded.
What came before his eyes were astonishingly beautiful. The earlier scenery of the canyon has changed completely, it has turned into a beautiful scenery of endless leveled earth.
The land was also vitrified and the oozing hot liquid flowed everywhere. It was a devastating yet beautiful scene.
However, the moment he saw this new world, he suddenly realized his grave mistake.
“SOPHIA! CHRISTINE!”
He looked around and saw the two surrounded by a magic barrier and molten lava.
“s**t WHAT HAVE I DONE!!”
Ernest shouted as he rushed towards the two. He scanned them and fortunately, they just suffered from burns.
If not for Christine, they would’ve shared the same fate with the earth around them.
But they’re also unconscious, maybe from Christine spending so much energy from the barrier and Sophia fainting.
Ernest's body trembled, hands shaking, and couldn’t think straight. The sword in his hand, he couldn’t believe that it was destructive.
‘I need to do something about the burn in their skins.’
From the looks of it, they seemed to have suffered from second-degree burns.
If left untreated, infections could set in. s**t! He didn’t account for the harmful radiation of the sun. If he knew that this could be destructive then he wouldn’t use it in the first place.
Migraine.
A sudden migraine sets in. Ernest had used 90% of his mana. Suffering from the drawback of destructive power.
‘I need to heal their wounds first before I pass out. They are in grave danger…’
But how? It’s not like he has some healing spells as a healer class does.
Ernest recalled something in the middle of the dire situation.
He remembered using potions to heal his injury. And it works perfectly well. If he could administer those potions to them, then they can be saved!
Ernest's heart was now filled with hope.
‘I promise! I will never use it again!”
Opening the menu, Ernest tapped the system shop tab. Currently, he has 52,400 gold coins. He hasn’t spent it yet but now he will have to. First, he searched for a healing potion. Then three types of healing potions show up.
[Low-tier healing potion: heals the user 15% of its current health.] Cost: 20 gold coins
[Mid-tier healing potion: heals the user 45% of its current health.] 50 gold coins.
[High-tier healing potion: heals 80% of its current health.] 100 gold coins.
Without hesitation, he bought two High-tier healing potions for 200 gold coins and administered them quickly to Christine and Sophia.
Carefully and gently lifting Sophia up, he slowly poured the red liquid into her mouth.
The same goes for Christine.
In an instant, Ernest noticed their body shining.
The burns in their body disappeared as if they weren’t even there in the first place.
Seeing this, Ernest heaved a huge sigh of relief. And hug the two tightly.
“I’m sorry...I’m sorry...I’m sorry…”
Christine and Sophia returned. They felt a warm embrace from Ernest repeatedly saying “I’m sorry.”
“Brother…”
“Ernest…”
“I’m sorry...guys...I shouldn’t use it.”
“It’s okay now, Ernest.”
Tears trickled down his face.
“I’m sorry.”
