Chapter 9

Maya’s P. O. V.

Even before I could realise what was happening right at this moment, a giant screen appeared in front of me out of the blue, stating the exact same words that I just heard right now and also with the options to choose from.

“What is this?” I asked unconsciously even though there was no one to answer to my queries. My brows got furrowed unconsciously as I just could not find meaning to any of this, no matter how hard I tried.

I will not deny that I was shocked as hell.

Cause I was seeing something for the first time which I was not at all expecting to witness, even after being born once again in the past.

It looked like some kind of hi-tech computerised screen is being projected right in front of my eyes without any physical presence of any kind of computer or gadgets or anything else.

It looked very similar to some games that I used to play on my computer.

And now that the giant radiating screen has popped up before me, I could not help but feel like I got stuck in some kind of gaming world even when everything felt so very real to me. Yes, I can say so, cause this is my life and I have lived in these moments before as well in my past life when nothing as such has ever happened to me. Then why now?

Improving skills, choosing the actions from the given options, moving ahead to go to another level and so many things I believed only happen in a game until now, but I could not say the same any more.

Ever since I woke up fifteen years back in my past after I died one night in my previous life, I figured out that I should be ready for anything and everything in this second chance life. Cause when a miracle like coming back to my own past from death could happen, then anything could happen in the coming future, but I have never expected to see me standing in front of this hi-tech giant screen that was asking me to choose from the options that I have been given to move ahead in time realising my priorities first.

Yes, that only happens to games, not in real life.

I do not know what else is waiting for me in the coming time which might surprise me once again like now, which might also cause me to rethink about the whole situation over and over again to make some reason out of all these alien incidents that are happening to me since I died.

The continuous low beeping sound made me look carefully into the screen only to find out that the timer has already been running at the top right corner of the screen for me to make a choice in a given time.

Five minutes.

Five minutes I got to decide. Even though it was not even a tough choice to make, it was still hard for me cause I needed more time to take in all these mysterious occurrences so that I could come up with a conclusion about what kind of life I am going to lead from now on.

It seemed like the world I used to live in once has changed in some ways.

I wondered what would happen if I decide not to chose any of the given options. Just when I thought about that another announcement popped up on the screen along with the same animated voice saying,

‘***Attention****

You have one more minute to chose. Make your choice within the given time or you will be transported back to the moment from where everything started. You will be taken back to the night when you died which will cause you to lose your chances to take revenge on your enemies.’

After hearing what the system had just mentioned, I could not help but wonder if this is why I have been given another chance to live in the first place. Is this really some kind of game or what?

I might be able to know only if I do what the system is asking me to do.

I have to make a choice right now.

“I choose to save dad.” I declared firmly as nothing is more important than dad for me, and this was what I have decided to do long ago and came all the way to this city.

As soon as I locked my answer, another window opened on the giant radiant screen right before my eyes.

‘ ****Alert****

You chose option 1. For which you might need some pieces of equipment.

Your next stop: Nightingale bar and casino

Name of the guy: Massimo

You have given 3hrs to complete the task.

And your time starts now.’

As soon as the animated voice declared the notification, the giant screen disappeared from my sight with the last beeping sound and I have left with a whole new confusion all over again.
