She yawned as she walked into the living room and she almost jumped at the unexpecting sight of Forest asleep on the couch. He was still in his dark clothes from yesterday and he was positioned awkwardly on the small couch that could barely support his lanky frame. His head was pushed into the armrest and his mouth was parted as a soft snore slipped out of his mouth. He looked peaceful for the first time and Scarlett was shocked that a frown wasn't present like it normally was. Though she could see very faint creases in his face from his constant frowning during the day. His arm dangled over the side of the couch and his fingers brushed against the expensive carpeting. She took note of how vulnerable he looked. As she found herself staring at him she began to look at him more as a human than a monster. He looked like a normal 20 something-year-old who passed out on the couch and not a criminal who's probably done many unspeakable things. "Why are you staring at me?" He asked in a groggy voice and Scarlett had been so caught up in her thoughts she didn't notice his breathing change and the frown reappear. "Um I," She began to stutter as she looked around frantically, "I wasn't!" She said quickly before rushing into the kitchen. She pushed open the swinging door and escaped into the safety of the pristine kitchen. Did he have a maid? She never noticed one, but the house was always clean. She shrugged off the thought and wandered over to the coffee pot and turned it on by pressing the big green button. She spun around and walked over to the fridge and her pajama shorts rode up her upper thighs and she unknowingly was giving a little show in the small shorts. She played with the hem of her navy blue tank top as her eyes wandered from around the fridge in search of creamer. This was the first morning she was craving coffee and of course, there wasn't any creamer. Her shoulders slumped as she opted for grabbing almond milk and she turned around with her bottom lip pouting as she shut the door to the fridge with her hip. She gasped as she saw Forest sitting at the counter sipping coffee out of his mug, she immediately felt uneasy with his presence. He was so intimidating and how did he pour himself a cup of coffee without making a sound? He wasn't watching her and was only focused on the coffee in his hand. With cautious steps, she walked to the other side of the counter and reached for a mug and pulled it down and set it between them. She grabbed the coffee pot and he could obviously see how nervous she was because of how much the dark liquid slashed in the pot. His large hand reached up and suffocated her small one as he gripped the handle of the pot,"Allow me," He said and she quickly retracted her hand and allowed him to pour her a cup. She mumbled thanks when he returned the pot to the machine. "No problem," He said simply as he watched her small fingers fight to unscrew the tightly sealed milk carton," You like almond milk in your coffee?" He asked as he brought his own cup to his lips. She shook her head as she still battled the carton,"No, I like creamer, but you don't have any," She said and he smirked. "Bottom drawer," He said cryptically obviously trying to get her to talk to him again. Her fingers pulled away from the still sealed carton in shame and she looked up at him confused. All he did was lazily point to the fridge and she followed his eye. She looked back at him before following directions and walking over to the fridge. She bent over and searched the very bottom drawer and sure enough, there was french vanilla creamer. She held it up with victory and was surprised to see him still staring at his cup and not her butt because she was bent over in the short clothing. She fought a satisfied smiled that was for her coffee craving. She walked over to her spot to the counter and tried to open the coffee creamer but failed again. Were all these containers Scarlett proof? Was he trying to starve her? She quickly pushed that last thought away and she decided to make use of the man sitting in front of her. She daringly set the unopened creamer in front of him and he looked up at her with a raised eyebrow. He wouldn't kill her, would he? It's too early to kill someone. "Will you um open it for me, please?" She asked and Forest fought a smile as he nodded and grabbed the container and opened it with ease and slid it back to her. He was satisfied with the small interaction and he didn't want his temper to ruin it because it usually does. So while things were going well he slid from the barstool and waltzed out of the kitchen with a satisfied feeling bubbling up in him. When he left, Scarlett was shocked when she felt a drop of disappointment as she watched the kitchen door swing back and forth from his exit. # "I thought I told you to get out?" Forest said not even bothering looking up from his file he was reading. He knew by the way the door swung open without the intruder knocking was someone who was an i***t or a dumbass as Forest liked to call him. "You know you missed me," Goose said as he plopped down on the chair in front of Forest's desk and he threw his legs up so they crossed on the edge of the table. Forest glared at him and surprisingly Goose listened and took his feet down. Maybe he wasn't a complete dumbass. "What do you want, spit it out before I shoot you," Forest ordered as he pulled out the heavy metal that was attached under his desk and set it on his paperwork. Forest always kept the gun there for safety measures. Goose merely glanced at it before continuing talking like normal. "I found myself in one of Gene's clubs," Forest rolled his eyes knowing Goose was taking advantage of the free rooms in Gene's club that had beautiful women at his disposal,"And I overheard something," Goose said and Forest looked up from his paperwork once more and narrowed his eyes at Goose. Goose smirked because for the first time he knew something that Forest didn't know," Gene is working for the vipers now and they are looking for Red. They know you have Red and if I were you I wouldn't take my eyes off of her," Goose said as he picked up a paperweight off the desk and threw it up in the air and caught it. Forest narrowed his eyes at Goose, seeing if he could tell if this was a joke to get a rise out of him or if it was valuable intel. After having an intense staredown and when Goose didn't show any signs of bluffing Forest sighed and looked over all his paperwork that needed to be done by today. He couldn't leave to go sit at home and watch Scarlett, as much as he'd want to, he couldn't. "Fine, Send someone that isn't you or Maverick, I can't trust you two not to do something stupid with her," Forest ordered and Goose smirked. "Right away, Bones," He said as he threw the paperweight at Forest and he caught it with ease because his reflexes were abnormality skilled and Goose laughed as he skipped out of the room. Forest rolled his eyes and looked back down at his work. # The door to the house swung open and it made Scarlett jump and quickly scrounge around to put back the books she'd been reading in the library. She didn't know if she was allowed in here so she'd been sneaking in to borrow a couple books every now and then. She was too afraid to ask so she kept quiet. For some reason, she was glad Forest was home because he'd been gone all day and the house was silent. She was used to hearing him cursing someone out on the phone or his angry signs when something he was doing didn't go right or even the sound of him flipping through his paperwork was enough for her. The sounds of him kept her sane in the house. "How's it going, Dollface?" The sound made her skin crawl because she knew that voice. She remembered it from when she first woke up in the cement room. She spun around clutching her book to her chest and her eyes meet his beady eyes that were dark as coal. They were so terrifying it could make Satan crawl back from where he came from. She gulped and brushed back her dark hair behind her ear and she averted her gaze to the floor. She heard his expensive looking shoes walk across the floor and she trembled as he approached. She saw his feet stop a foot away from hers and she was too afraid to look up at him because she knew he was close, too close. He had other plans because his calloused finger pulled her chin to look up at him and she grimaced,"I thought Maverick taught you how to act? She boasted about it for weeks telling us all about the s**t she did to you, I was surprised she had the balls to touch you considering your purpose for this business. She's a reckless dumbass along with that boy," He said and the hatred was clear in his tone. Scarlett wondered what he meant by her purpose for the business, but she was too afraid to ask,"Did you already forget what she taught you?" He growled and Scarlett shook her head. She hadn't forgotten. How could she? What Maverick did to her was traumatic. "N-no sir," Scarlett said, she didn't want to speak to him but his tone didn't give her a choice. His thin lips curled into a sinister smirk and he seemed pleased," Has Bones not been making you follow through with Mavericks teachings?" He asked and he seemed to be asking something else something cryptic. Was he looking for a weakness in Bones? Something in Scarlett made her want to protect Forest from this man's goal. Why? She didn't know but as of right now Forest was the safest person she could "Trust" and she couldn't risk him being at the hand of this man. "No, he has," Scarlett said and he narrowed his eyes at her trying to seek out her lie, but she was good at lying. Always has been. Only people who were very observant could tell when she lied. Her eyebrow would twitch ever so slightly, but that went unnoticed by the man in front of her. "Well," He said and then he threw her head to the ground and she would have been seriously injured if she hadn't caught herself with her hands. The book she was holding went flying and she gasped as she felt a shock run up her hand," Crawl then," He said and flashbacks to when Maverick would slap her with a long stick to get her to keep walking. She began to scraw and he directed her with harsh instructions until they were in the living room. He made her sit on her hands and knees on the carpet and he sat on the couch with his legs outstretched on the coffee table and he flipped through channels on the T.V. It was the first time the T.V. had been turned on because it took a fingerprint to turn on any electronics that could give her any insight into the media. She wanted to look so bad but every time she did she would get smacked with the magazine rolled up in his hand, like a dog. They sat there for hours and her limbs were aching but she didn't dare move for fear of what he would do. The heat of the fire was beginning to burn her bare thighs and she'd wished she would have changed out of her pajama shorts. Robin watched a movie that sounded very horrific and graphic and he only smirked the whole time he even laughed when a woman was screaming and the sound of a chainsaw echoed through the surround sound. Scarlett was glad at that point that she couldn't see because she hated scary movies. The front door burst open and Scarlett prayed it was Forest and by the sounds of heavy footsteps and his cursing into a phone she knew it was him. His voice grew closer and when his voice was heard close behind her he growled,"What the f**k is going on here!"
