"f**k you-you f*****g cunt! I'm going to rip you to shreds if I ever see you again! God, you are such a f**k up, you dumbass! You and Emma better get the f**k out of my house because I am done with your s**t!" Forest barked into the phone and goosebumps littered Scarlett's skin as she heard his tone. She was sat at the breakfast table eating a bowl of cereal slowly and cautiously because Forest came out of nowhere and was pacing in the kitchen. She wanted to run back up to her room but his pacing was blocking her escape so she was forced to sit there and hear his horrible words. He cursed like a sailor. She's been here for a week and she's noticed that Forest has the worst temper known to man, along with a colorful vocabulary. The little things ticked him off and he explodes out of nowhere. She usually hightails it out of his way when he's like that. Goose laughed at Forest's reaction and it made Forest grip the phone tight in his hand," Calm down Boner, I'll take care of it, Well, Bunny will take care of it because she has the t**s," He said and Forest sighed. Goose was such a dumbass he didn't know to be terrified of him,Forest almost killed him three times because he can't keep his mouth shut. He's never serious and the only reason Forest keeps him alive is that he's such a good shot. The best hitman in the area. Forest was sick of him and he chucked the phone against the wall and watched it shatter into pieces. "f*****g no good son of a b***h-" He ranted as he turned around and he saw Scarlett standing in the doorway with her dirty dish in her hand. Her eyes were wide and she looked terrified. He immediately felt worse about himself because he can't keep himself under control enough to make her feel comfortable around him. He ran a hand through his hair," Sorry," He mumbled. There he goes with apologizing again. She didn't say anything as she kept her head down and quickly put her bowl in the sink. She turned around and hastily walked out of the kitchen. He huffed, she couldn't even be in the same room as him. She hurried up the stairs and rushed to her room and shut the door behind her and pressed her back to it. She remembered the times Shawn would press her against the wall in a passion filled state and would kiss her like it was the last time. The thought of Shawn made tears form in her eyes and she sunk down to the floor and held her knees to her chest. Was he even looking for her? She'd been gone for almost three weeks now and her hope was hanging on by a thread. She'd cried so much at night that she wasn't getting much sleep and it was starting to put a toll on her. She began to break down and she didn't worry about how loud she was being. Her exhaustion made her hysterical and she wailed like a child. Forest sucked in a breath as he heard her as he walked past her door. He walked up to her door and leaned in so he could hear better and the sound of the beautiful girl sobbing made him feel a foreign way. He raised his hand and was about to knock, but he clenched his fist and set it back down at his side. What would he do when she answered? Would he say, "Hey Scarlett, let me comfort you, the guy who kidnaped you and probably the reason you're crying," Forest shook his head and cursed himself and kept walking down the hall. His footsteps went unknown to Scarlett because her sobs were becoming so loud that she couldn't stop them. In a hysterical state she fumbled around the room and knocked things over and screamed. She stumbled over the c*****e as she walked over to the balcony that was three stories up and she looked out at the forest in front of her through blurry tears. She gripped the railing and contemplated jumping. It would end this all, she would be free. She shook her head and let go of the railing a took a step back. She was better than that. She was a fighter. She lazily wiped the tears away with the back of her hand and she looked around once more. There was nothing, she couldn't escape even if she tried. The sound of wooden boards creaking made her jump and she looked up to see Forest walking on his balcony a story up. He hadn't seen her yet so she quickly ducked and hid out of sight. He was talking on the phone and running his fingers through his hair. Something he did when he was frustrated or stressed she picked up. "She won't stop f*****g crying!" He groaned out like it was the craziest scenario ever. He rolled his eyes at whatever the person said on the other line and scoffed, "No dipshit, why would I tell her! She can barely look at me now could you imagine if I told her that!" He said exasperated. Scarlett furrowed her eyebrows and leaned towards the sound more to hear every word coming from his mouth. "No I won't kill her! God are you even listening to what I've been saying!" His matter of fact tone eased Scarlett's worries of her life being ended at the hand of that handsome devil. "Just forget it! I'll talk to her," He said and Scarlett's eyes widened and she stealthy crawled back into her room and pulled the door shut softly. As she collapsed on the couch in her room the sound of hard knocking came from the door. She knew who it was so she didn't bother asking and only gave a soft "come in." The door opened and it squeaked slightly as he stepped through. "Hi," He said and for the first time he appeared to be acting awkward and unsure of himself. The odd behavior peaked Scarlett's interest and she looked over at him and raised and eyebrow. "Um..." he rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at the ground, "would you mind coming down for dinner?" "No I'm not hungry," She lied and he bit the corner of his cheek to hold back his temper. "Well then will you come down and watch a movie or something?" He asked and she furrowed her brows. "Why?" she asked like he was crazy for thinking that was a good idea. "Because," He said holding back his anger of her not following his simple command. "Because why?" She asked again not meaning to pester him. She was just curious. "Because I said so damnit!" He snapped and she jumped back at the sudden increase in volume and he cursed himself left and right for snapping on her. He ran a hand through his hair and she watched him cautiously, "Just," he took a deep breath, "Forget it". He said and he spun around and stormed out of the room. She frowned and wondered what his motive for inviting her downstairs would be. Did he want to drug her? Rape her? Do awful things to her? Or did he simple just want her to be downstairs with him? She shook her head and throw her hands in the air. Whatever it was she didn't want anything to do with it. She quickly got to the door and locked it before getting ready for bed. Forest heard the water from the shower turn on and he sighed and leaned forward with his knees in his elbows as he sat on the couch. He ran his hands over his face and he frowned. "Why couldn't she just trust me?" He thought. He hasn't done anything to her that would cause her not to. Well he did kidnap her... Slowly Forest began to dissect everything that's happened so far. Scarlett was hard to read and she spent most of her time in her room. Forest was usually good at assessing people, but with Scarlett he couldn't. It was infuriating to him. He thought long and hard about the little things she does and he remembered seeing her slipping from his library sneakily late one night. He noticed she had taken one of the books off his mother's romance shelf. The library was filled with books that have been in the family for generations and it was quite the sight. He wondered how many times she'd snuck into the library without him noticing. Not many things get by him, but she was a different story. He thought some more and remembered hearing faintly hear humming in the shower one night. It was a night he'd been gone all day and she'd been home alone. He was surprised to hear she hadn't escaped, but if she did she wouldn't make it far considering the property is armed with his men. It was the first time he'd walked by her door and didn't hear her crying, the sound of her humming and occasionally singing made him feel weird in his stomach. A good feeling he couldn't quite describe. Forest poured himself a glass of scotch as he furrowed his eyebrows. He was deep in thought contemplating how he was going to go about this situation. He threw back the contents of the glass and settled in on the couch. When silence overtook the house and he began to hear it. Her singing. Her beautiful singing voice echoed through the house and she sang Valerie by Amy Whinehouse perfectly. The sound of her voice made Forest relax and soon he found himself nodding off to one of his favorite songs.
