~Laura~
I felt my heart jump into my stomach when I watched them walk to the altar. The big crowd couldn't stop whispering into each other's ear.
"What just happened?"
"Oh my God, if I were in her shoes, I'd probably not show my face in public again."
"Just imagine that she was planning with her boyfriend to steal Mr. Alex's money!" Their hateful words fell into my ear, leaving me weak on my knees. I felt my head spinning, and the only thing I could think of was how to get out of there.
I ran towards the exit door; the sound of their whispers increased, causing me to bite my lips in anger that it almost bled. As soon as I stepped outside the hall, I hailed a taxi and hopped on it.
"Rizzo pub," I said, informing him of where I was headed.
I growled as I rested my head on the chair, wishing the car would never stop. That it'll keep moving and moving.
"Ma'am, we're here," He said. I got down from the taxi, realizing that I had no money with me to pay. I checked for my phone but I left it back in the hall with Mary.
"Em... Sir, I have no money with me" I said, hoping that he won't make it seem like a really big deal.
"What? No money means no service" He said as he furrowed his brows.
"Em..." I tried to think of how I could pay him, "Oh my ring, you can take my ring, sir," I said and handed the ring to the driver. He took the ring from me, hissed, and drove off.
I sighed and turned to the pub; it was almost dusk, and the whole place was warming up; just a few people sat with drinks in front of them. I walked up to the bar counter, with no money to get myself a drink, I said.
"Can I get a drink? I'll pay you with my earrings." I paused and swallowed hard, "They're gold." I noticed the eyes that were all staring at me because I was wearing a wedding gown.
The bartender gazed at the earrings for a second before taking them. He poured tequila into a glass cup before leaving.
I sat down in silence, the only thing I could hear was the distant chatter of the customers in the pub. My head was aching when suddenly, a man sat beside me at the bar counter and said, "Pretty lady, did you run from a play or what?" He asked, gazing at me from head to toe.
I swallowed hard in pain and ignored the man; gulping the remaining tequila in my glass, I asked the waiter for a refill.
For 2 years now, I and Alexander have been dating. We loved each other so much, or so I thought. Alexander is one of the richest men in the country and every girl's dream.
"How didn't I see this coming?" I thought and bit my lips as the waiter poured in more tequila for me.
"Damsel, I'm merely trying to start a conversation with you. Don't be offended if you don't like my question," The same man said, pestering my life. I ignored him like before but he was persistent,
"Is it a drink you want? I can get that for you, and then we can go to the inner room in this pub; I'll compensate you for your time," He said. His words irked me after what happened at the wedding venue, I felt so weak that I couldn't even respond to the disgusting man beside me.
"You don't have to act tough, you look hot even in this dress and I'd love to see you in your birthday suit," He paused and slowly placed his hand on my shoulder, "Name your price, everyone has a price, right?" He said, causing me to Instantly push his hand away.
I narrowed my eyes, noticing that he was getting angry, I decided to move to another seat when he suddenly grabbed my hand, "What is your problem? Let go of my hand!" I said causing him to respond,
"Oh, I thought you couldn't speak" I tried pulling away from his grip but he was too strong, I bit my lips in frustration when suddenly the bartender moved to where we stood arguing,
"Sir, you have to leave the lady," He said, causing the man to burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"And who are you to tell me what to do?" He asked,
"This is a direct order from my boss, sir; he asked that you let go of her hand immediately and leave the pub," The bartender said and pointed to a dark corner in the room.
The man instantly turned to see what the bartender was pointing at, he instantly let go of my hand the moment he saw the man sitting at the corner, "he asked that you apologize to the lady too" Without giving it another thought, he instantly put his hands together and said,
"I'm sorry, miss." He quickly turned to the door and exited the pub, leaving me dumbfounded. I couldn't see the man sitting by the corner clearly but with the way that man acted by just his command, I knew he wasn't just anybody.
"Your earrings, ma, I've been asked to give them back," He said, stretching his hand forward. I turned to where he sat only to find that he was no longer there.
As I turned to take the earrings from the bartender, I felt someone's presence behind me. Out of reflex, I turned to quickly see who it was, "Did I startle you?" His perfect British accent fell into my ears.
"No, I'm fine" I responded in a low husky voice.
"Okay." He said. The bartender poured us a few shots, and I wasn't in the right frame of mind; I drank with a stranger.
It was at this moment that I realized I had no home to go to. I moved in with Alexander after one year and six months of our relationship. Spending too much time at work deprived me of having any friends, and I had no penny with me.
In shame and desperation, I turned to the gentleman beside me and asked, "Em... Sir..."
"Rizzo" He cut me off. "My name is Antonio Rizzo," He said, informing me of his name.
"Okay, Mr. Rizzo..." I tried to speak, but he took his hands to my lips and stopped me from speaking; he trailed his hand down my shoulder, causing my body to react in ways it hadn't before.
"The man who abandoned you was a jerk; he lost something special," Antonio said, causing me to swallow hard; he softly moved his hand from my neck down to the skin around my boobs.
Suddenly, I pressed my lips on his, unable to control myself, I kissed him hard and passionately. He pulled away for a minute, gazing into my eyes as if asking for permission, "Unknowingly, I nodded my head, I just couldn't afford to lose the feeling of pleasure that I was feeling."
He took me to the private section of the pub. The room was so big and exquisite that it spelled the word luxury; in the middle of the room was a pole where strippers could dance. We walked through the room into a hall leading to different rooms.
I felt dizzy and tried to maintain balance as I walked but unfortunately, I almost fell, and Antonio's strong hold on my back prevented me from falling.
We arrived at a room, deep in the halls. It seemed like a private apartment, big and luxurious. We pressed our lips together again and started kissing passionately when I felt his hand on my back. He unzipped my dress and gently pushed me to the bed.
"Mr. Rizzo..."
"Shhh," he stopped me from speaking and kissed my neck down to my stomach.
I woke up in the bright room, feeling a splitting headache. In the bathroom, I heard the shower running, and I looked down at the room to see my clothes on the ground. I quickly got down from the bed, feeling sore. I dressed up quickly, and without turning back, I left the room.
