Chapter 7

I closed my eyes and heaved a deep sigh. Good thing after a couple of hours, I was able to set and arrange some files the President had given me. I leaned back on the back rest and closed my eyes. But I was having my good time resting for a bit I almost jolted in shock when the telephone rang beside me. Goodness! Who could this be? I quickly answered the phone, thinking that it was a client confirming his meeting later or it was the President and he wanted something important. But when I heard my best friend's voice, I almost rolled my eyes in annoyance. "Hello? This is MYDG Summit--" "Sofia! What time you will be at home tonight?" she almost shrieked from the other line. I quickly put away the phone on my ear and almost winced in pain because of her almost falto voice. Goodness, does she even know that she's talking on the phone? "Oh sorry to inform you ma'am but this line is only for--" "Don't dare to finish your sentenced Ms. Fernandez, I might lock the door and let you sleep outside!" she threatened, referring to locking the door of our flat. I can't help but smile at her blackmails. "I have a spare key though," I teased. "Shut up and I don't care! So, what time will you go home?" she demanded, ignoring my remarks. "You don't have a plan of leaving me here alone with this--Honey, let's eat! The food is ready!" she stopped when someone interrupted her speech. "Shut up, James!" Ella shouted from the other line. I put away the phone on my ear because of that. Goodness, this woman! She’s not considering that she’s talking to me! It took me a couple of second before putting back the phone on my ear. "Why are you even calling anyway?" I asked her again. "Gosh! Aren't you forgetting something? Why are you even letting this man visit me here?!" she complained. I sighed because of that. "What else could be the reason? Of course, to take care of you," "Take care? Seriously, do I look sick to you?" she exasperatingly asked. "Nope. But something might happen now that I am not always around. Especially that you're very preg--" "Sofia!" she interrupted again, threatening me. I rolled my eyes because of that. Why does the word 'pregnant' sound like a curse to her? "What? Are you not?" I asked innocently. "Honey, let's eat--Shut the f**k up James!" "--But--" "Argh! Shut the hell up will you?! Your voice is annoying me!" I scoffed at the fight that is igniting between the two. I don't even know how these two became together if they always fight for some petty things. Is it love though? It's been also two months when James went to our home and told me the thing between him and my best friend. At first, I don't want to believe it. But seeing how Ella broke down and saw how serious James is, towards my best friend, I believed in him. He said that they used to be lovers, without even my knowledge. They were in a relationship for almost two years, which really shook the hell out of me! But then, they ended their relationship a week before I found out the President's secret. I don't want to blab the reasons why they broke up, but to sum it up, their relationship has always been intimate and Ella found out before they broke up that she's pregnant. "Sofia!" she shouted from the other line again. I wince in slight pain because of how loud her shout is. Gods, this is why shouting from the other must be prohibited! "Goodness, lower down your voice!" I annoyingly said. "I don't care! Just tell me what time will you go home!" she demands. Goodness, do all pregnant undergo on this cycle? I was about to answer her when suddenly, I heard the lift's ding. I automatically put down the phone back, without even saying goodbye to my best friend. I saw a familiar woman, with her body-hugging short white dress, walking towards the door of the President's office. Even though I know her purpose, I need to be strict for the President's safety. "Do you have an appointment, ma’am?" I asked, stopping her before she could even open the glass sliding door. She immediately raised her brow at me. I scoffed secretly. s Tsk. "Where's Ian?" she bitched. My brow shot up because of that. I cleared my throat before answering her. "Inside his office, Ma’am," I answered. She sneered and then tried to push me away in front of the office door. Goodness, she is so demanding. "Wait, ma'am, let me inform the President that you've arrived---" "You don't need to inform him! I am sure he would happy to see me here!" she demanded. I secretly rolled my eyes. Well, that was I always hear to every woman who comes in here. I sighed because of that. I tried to remember why am I even handling the President’s women? Goodness is this still part of my work? I didn’t remember handling them as one of my job descriptions. I ignored her and quickly put the intercom on the line. "You have a visitor, President" "Who?" he shortly asked. I looked at the woman and raised my brow to her. I look at her like I was asking permission to give her name to me. Good thing she was able to get what I wanted to say. "Mary," she said. I repeated her name and I heard the President sighed like he has some kind of problem. "Let her in," he said and the line died. The woman seems to hear what the President said and she quickly smirks at me. I smiled fakely and stride sideward to let her in inside the office. She slides the door open and went inside. I even heard her rants to the President regarding my attitude by I didn’t hear all of it when I decided to close the door. I let out a deep sigh. I went back to my seat and massaged my temple. Goodness, all his women are stressing me out! It would be good if all of them are respectable and prim and proper, but most of them are a pain in the a*s! I straighten my back when I remember that I needed to make a call to a jewelry shop that I visited last week to confirm the order I made. I'm sure they'll deliver the jewelry at this instance because that's what I requested to most of the shop I visited. After the call, I went back to work. I wasn't able to track time when the two people inside the office went out. I quickly stood up when I saw the President supporting his woman who seems to be weak and pale after what he did. Of course, they will be. The president then looked at me and I know, without even telling me, what he wanted. I took the black rectangular velvet box inside my drawer and went to them. The President looked at me intently with his hooded eyes before directing his attention to his almost asleep woman. "Hey... I have a gift for you," I heard him whispered into her ears. I swallowed hard when a flash of images played on my mind. Stop it, Sofia! The woman opened her eyes and looked at the President before looking at what is he giving to her. I saw the shock in her eyes as she looked back to the President. Goodness, why am I even watching this? The woman excitedly opened the box even though in her weak state. The woman saw what's inside but my eyes stayed to look at the President, wanted to see what his reaction at the thing I had decided to give to his woman. "This is pretty," the woman said as she took out the necklace with a cross pendant. It was made of silver. The president looked at me, seems amused, because of what he had seen. He smirked as he took out the jewelry inside the box, and was the one who wears it to his woman. I studied how he acted towards the jewelry. Hmm. I need to take a note of this. He seems fine with silvers and crosses. Well, this is already a modern generation and many may have changed and one of it might be having no effect of those things on them. I looked at the President and saw the ghost of a smile on his lips. Well, I still have one. I quickly took the mirror on my table and gave it to the woman to let her see if the necklace is good to her. Then I looked at the President and seems to be shocked at what I just gave. I thought there's something wrong about it but only, the President chuckled which made the both of us looked at him. "Is there a problem?" his woman asked him. He quickly shook his head. "Nothing," he said as he leads his woman towards the lift. "I'll accompany you to the parking," he then turned to glance at me and I immediately saw the mock on his face. "You'll never know if I stay here, someone might stab a stake through my heart," he continued as they both entered the lift. I gaped in shocked at what he remarked especially when the smirked in his lips never did wears off until the lift's door closes. I blinked when I was left alone outside his office. I quickly went back to my table and annoyingly started my work. Asshole! If he just told me what his weaknesses are, maybe I wouldn't stupidly act like that! Grr!
