Chapter 9 James’ throat was burning, his lungs were burning, even the muscles in his legs were on fire, but he knew that he and Christian were easy pickings running across such open terrain. This was no time to let up. His disappearance would well and truly have been discovered by now, and the men of the Wildlands would be on their mutant horses, galloping through the streets of the ruined metropolis towards them.
