I take the glass of water from my mother’s outstretched hand and sip it gently, being careful not to upset my already queasy stomach. I have stopped crying now and my breathing has returned to normal.
“Astra, are you sure you don’t recognise him as our mate.” I ask her again, for the hundredth time this evening.
