Karen
It's been incredibly challenging being cooped up in the house for a whole month. Ever since my father discovered the truth at the Franklin's company press conference several days ago, he's been constantly on my case.
To make matters worse, my court hearing has been postponed because now it is going to trial, which means I'm stuck on house arrest for even longer. The only plus about going to trial is I might have a chance of not going to prison. This past week my father received a call letting us know that the court hearing had been canceled due to unexplained reasons.
I'm feeling uncertain about whether my father will assist me in getting out of this situation or if I'll end up spending years in prison.
I am way too pretty for prison and if my father can't get me out of this then maybe my mother can. This is all Sophia's fault; if she hadn't stolen my man away from me all this would never have happened.
Thinking about it all, this is also Rose's fault. She is the one who told her family about what I might have been doing. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have gotten caught.
I spent weeks thinking about what went wrong, who's to blame, what can I do, or even plotting my revenge. And other days I'm just too bored to think clearly.
I woke up Sunday morning to get myself ready to have breakfast. Walking into the kitchen my father was sitting down with a man that I had never seen before.
"Good morning father," I said as I ignored the other person. "Cut the innocent act Cruella," Liam stated as Luke and him walked into the kitchen.
My father told me to sit down with much anger in his voice. Then he focuses his attention on my brothers. "Where were you two yesterday? Our father asked sternly. " We made use of our time to straighten things out with the Franklins last night," Liam had explained.
"Since our dear sister has been screwing up our family's reputation with the high-class circle and our connections with many other CEOs, we have to clean up her mess," Luke had expressed.
I was not sure where my father stood and my mother seemed to be useless, at least my brothers were trying to help me out. "Thank you Luke and Liam for helping me get through this situation," I said to them even though I didn't like them.
"It's no need to thank us because we did not do this for you. It was for our family's name and the last time I checked you are not a Markson," Liam spit out some much venom towards me.
My face dropped and I sat there embarrassed of how Luke and Liam were treating me. Not even my father seemed to want to help me. "Fine if none of you wants to help me then you don't have to throw it in my face. I will just try to figure things out myself," I said angrily.
"Stop being so dramatic Karen: this man before you is Mr. McGrey, he is your lawyer. He will help you, but first, you have to tell us everything about the a*******n and your connection with Rachel. Also, the past problems you have had with other women in our social circle might testify against you.
I put my head in my hand getting very frustrated. How did my father know that I've had hurt other women; at least the ones who were after Eric? Removing my hands from my face I stared at Luke and Liam.
They began to smirk at me as they continued to stare me down. I was snapped out of my stare-down with my brothers when my father began to yell at me.
"Focus Karen, this is the reason why you are in the situation you are in now. As far as the women you ruined because they had a thing for Eric Franklin; your brothers informed me about this and all the horrible things they found out you have been doing," my continued to yell at me.
My brother's walked over to sit at the table with us. "First thing first, the day of the hearing you will plead guilty and hopefully they will give you a shorter sentence," Mr. McGrey stated.
"What do you mean to plead guilty? I don't want to go to prison Daddy," I cried to my father. " If you didn't want to ever go to prison, then you should have made better choices," Luke said with a smile.
"There is more evidence against you than you think, On top of that; if Sophia Franklin presses charges on you then it's a huge possibility some of the women you hurt in the past might come forward," Mr. McGrey continued to say.
"What are the charges against Karen and do you think we could win this? My father asked the lawyer. Me. McGrey went through his briefcase and came out with several pieces of paperwork in his hand.
He placed the paperwork on the table; next, he put on his glasses which were hiding in his blazer. " The list of charges against Ms. Karen Markson is k********g, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, false statement to authorities, and resisting arrest. However, this is just the list that was posted during her arrest," the lawyer said.
"So basically she's screwed; so what does this mean for the Markson company if she is convicted, " My father asked with a concerning tone in his voice.
"I say cut all ties to Cruella and the wicked witch of the West so our family's name can survive," Luke spoke out. "Who is Cruella and the witch? My father asked.
I hate Luke and Liam with a passion. They never treated me like a part of the family. "Both of you are full of sh*t and never cared for me or my mother," I cried out.
"Father we need to let Karen pay for her crimes. This is her fault and our family shouldn't pay for her choices. As for Helen, she is a golden digger who just wants to milk all of your money," Liam pointed out.
"Karen is your sister and Helen is your mother. We must protect our family, we must protect our own," My father said proudly.
"You are so blind to the truth that you can't see that Helen is a succubus who only cares about your money. As for Karen, she is just a thorn in your side, a poison, or even a disease," Luke continued after Liam, speaking negatively about me and my mother.
After Luke and Liam made their peace; they left the kitchen to go about their business. I was relieved when they finally left. I then thanked my father for defending me against my brothers. I just pray my father will do the same in court.
After what seemed like an eternity of questions and instructions Mr. McGrey went over with me. He wanted to make sure during court that I wouldn't stumble on any questions and would be mentally prepared for what could happen.
Our meeting was finally over and I was able to eat someone. The lawyer had left and my father walked him to the front door.
I made something quick to eat and as I was beginning to eat my bowl of cereal, my father sat down at the table across from me.
My father had a blink look on his face which was scaring me. " You will do whatever Mr. McGrey asks of you without any complaints. You have screwed up big time and if you make any more bad choices you are done," my father had said to me.
Father had left me alone and I rushed to finish eating to talk to my mother. I got up from the kitchen table once I was finished eating and washed the dishes that I had used.
I went to look for my mother and found her outside in the back lounging by the pool. I called out to my mother as I sat down next to her.
"Mother, things aren't looking good for me; not even the lawyer father hired doesn't believe I can walk away from this. Can you please help mother? I asked my mother hoping she might have some better plans than my father and the lawyer.
"Do I have to always clean up your messes; I taught you better than this. To never get caught and yet again you have failed me. You have really screwed up this time," my mother yelled at me.
"I'm so sorry Mother; it's just that I love Eric and I needed it to get rid of the competition. There's always some girl trying to flock around Eric so I had to handle them no matter the cost," I said with pride.
"You have failed to keep what you have done under wraps and above all you never even had a chance to obtain a relationship with Eric Franklin. Karen, you are a failure; I am warning you now if this whole situation makes me lose the position I'm in now you are no longer my daughter. You do not know how long and hard it took me to secure a relationship with a wealthy man who was willing to take in a child that was not his," my mother continued to yell in frustration.
"Please mother just help me this once and tell me what I should do to make this right," I plead to mother. My mother looked at me hard with anger then she asked me a question.
"Karen you have two choices; do you want to get revenge on the people that put you in this situation or do you want to face this in court fighting this and plead innocent?
