VICTORIA'S POV
I didn’t know much about this new man that I had just met, but he seemed kind. What I hated, however, was the fact that he was overly curious about me. I understood that he was only being inquisitive because of the way he had found me, but why couldn’t he just accept the fact that I said I didn’t remember anything? Why did he want to force me to remember things that I didn’t want to remember?
I couldn't understand why knowing more about me or my past was so important to him. I couldn't tell him anything even if I wanted to because I wasn't familiar with him and for all I knew he was working with James. he was making it clear to me that he didn't trust me and I didn't trust him either.
Wondering about all these things wasn’t going to do me any good because I knew that he was going to be back any moment and continue demanding answers that I could never give to him. It’s not like I could just openly tell him that I had been living as a boy for the past eighteen years. Who would ever understand that? Would it ever make sense to anyone if I told them?
No, I had to come up with a better explanation as to why he found me on his shores. I wondered if my scent had given me away but I doubted that. I had been taking medication that was meant to musk my female scent all my life so there was no way that he could have picked who or what I was. And that was if he was the kind of creature that could pick scents.
I still wasn’t sure of what I was dealing with here but I had concluded that he was neither human nor wolf. If he was either of the two I would have sensed that by now but I hadn’t sensed anything. I figured he was something in between, so that meant that he was probably a hybrid. He was half human and half wolf and that would also explain why he wasn’t part of our kingdom. If my kingdom looked down on female wolves so much I couldn’t even imagine how they felt about hybrids.
I remembered that my mother was said to be a hybrid and she had been treated like some kind of filthy animal. This was very ironic because I was certain that humans would call us animals if they were given a chance. However, there was something undeniably different about this man. He was very handsome and there was no surprise there. But his eyes, his eyes were so capturing, and every time I looked into them I would get lost in them. There was something disarming about them and something that commanded authority and even made me an alpha wolf want to bow down to him when he ejected the room.
At least, that was one good thing about being here. It wouldn’t be easy to give into my alpha wolf tendencies when I was around him. I didn’t plan to stay here for too long because I knew that my secret would be discovered if I did. I was certain that James wouldn’t know peace until he saw my dead body so it was only a matter of time before he came searching for me. I wondered how he was going to ask all these alphas about my body, was he going to straight up tell them that he was looking for the pretend king of wolves that he tried to kill or was he…
“I hope you are ready to tell me the truth today’ he startled me as he walked in without even knocking, didn’t he know how to knock? What if he had found me naked in here?
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you, but don’t even know your name,” I said.
“My name is of no importance. I also didn’t know your name until I gave you one” he said.
“How do you expect me to remember anything when I don’t even remember my own name?” I asked him.
“Don’t you think you are asking me for a little too much here?” I asked him and he sighed and sat down
“Look, I am just trying to figure out who you are and you are not helping. I need to know in order to keep you here” he said and I scoffed
“Who says I want to stay here?” I asked him and he looked annoyed by the question that was asking him
“so you don’t want to stay here?” he asked me
“Of course not, I may not know where I was going but u doubt this was my final destination,” I said and he looked amused.
“how long do you think you will last out there without a scent’ he said, he was definitely not like the others
“you couldn’t even swim against the current” he pointed out
“It’s not like you will let me stay anyway because I don’t know anything about my life” I lied once more and he sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
“I will let you stay but every wolf here carries their own weight he said
“How when you are not even a wolf? Plus I still don’t know your name?’ I said
“My name is Damien, but it will be alpha Damien to you,” he said
“You are expected to help out around the island. If anyone asks for your help you must be willing to help” he said
“What if it’s with something I can’t do” I asked him but he ignored me and stood up
“The first thing I want to see is your wolf,” he said and then walked out. My heart was now pounding as If it was ready to rip my chest open and escape, I wanted to escape. There was just no way that I could show him my wolf.
