Chapter 5: Hire (2)
***
“Hello Mr. Barclay…” Nash said with a polite smile on his face but it was obvious just how awkward this was for him at that moment.
“Just Chazz is fine…” Chazz said as he invited the man in, the house looked more messy than usual. There were quite a few broken things inside as well. “As you see I really need professional help with this mess…”
“Hm? I understand… Did you have a party here?” Nash asked with a bit of a concerned voice. ‘The place looks like someone was intentionally trying to trash it…’ He thought to himself.
“No, rather my ex-wife thought it was a brilliant idea to come and yell at me for something, then throw things around, then leave as if nothing had happened…” Chazz explained in a single sentence, the way he spoke of the matter seemed like it held absolutely no weight on his shoulders.
“Your ex-wife… did all this?” Nash asked once more in complete disbelief. Looking at the state of things he wouldn’t have been surprised if the man said he’d either been robbed or that there was an earthquake only in his apartment. There were glass shards everywhere, whatever could be broken, was broken, vases, lamps, the TV… all of it was ruined.
“Yeah, she’s a wild one… which is the reason for our divorce. Well that and because she cheated on me, but that’s a whole different matter altogether.” Chazz explained, once more none of this seemed to make him feel bad, if anything he just seemed mildly irritated at the state of his apartment but he didn’t seem to care about that much either.
“Alright, then I’ll get to work…” Nash said as he rolled up his sleeves and started with collecting all the bigger broken pieces he could from the ground.
“I’ll be in my study then… please call me after you’re done for your payment.” Chazz said as he headed up the stairs.
“Um… sir we can also process payments through card.” Nash said as he always found that was an easier option for clients.
“I know… but I want to talk with you later…” Chazz said as he shot the man a quick glance.
“Hm… talk with me?” Nash muttered quietly to himself while watching the man’s back disappear. He shook his head from side to side and got to work, genuinely it wasn’t one of the messiest places he’d got to clean but the fact all of it had been done for just short of an hour made him think Chazz and his wife hadn’t separated on the best of terms.
Nash was just about finished with the overall cleaning, it took him about two hours to complete but the place was spotless and organized, well minus all the broken items that is… But now that he was finished with his work he couldn’t help but feel like his heart was about to jump right out of his chest.
‘I wonder… what exactly he wants to talk to me about… I didn’t do anything wrong, right?’ Nash thought to himself as he headed up the stairs to talk to the man. He meekly stood before the opened door and saw the man inside working.
Chazz stood in front of his computer monitor with thick framed glasses and a focused look in his eyes. Nash hesitated for a bit on whether to call out to him or not. ‘He looks really busy…’ He thought to himself as he watched the man’s side profile, there was something really alluring about the way the man looked while working.
‘Does he really need to be so handsome while just staring at a screen?’ Nash wondered to himself as he leaned onto the door frame but accidentally moved forward leaning on the door instead and falling face forward.
“There are easier ways to make an entrance… but that was certainly something new.” Chazz remarked with a bit of a chuckle in his voice as he got up from his chair and went to help the man get up.
“I’m very sorry… I didn’t mean to interrupt you and-” Nash paused as he looked up at the man. ‘The glasses only make him look better…’ He thought to himself as he took the man’s hand and stood up again.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it. Anyways I take it you’re here for your payment.” Chazz remarked as he pulled out his wallet from his back pocket. “The rate for two hours… here.” He said while handing the man said as he handed him two 100$ bills.
“Sir, I don’t really have change to give you, the service amounts to just 50$ for this and…” Nash tried to explain but the man handed him the money regardless of which.
“The rest is for you.” Chazz said with a small smile on his face. “Take it as an apology for confusing you with a prostitute, I realize it was very rude of me… Bringing you into bed like that…” He said with a bit of a quieter voice as if he was embarrassed by his actions that night, you could even see a faint blush across the man’s face.
“Ah… no it’s not a problem, you were really good and- Wait… that’s… not what I meant…” Nash stumbled over his words as he rummaged through what little he had left of his still working brain cells to try and come up with the proper words to say.
“So I wasn’t good after all?” Chazz asked as he tilted his head to the side, his expression looked somewhat disappointed.
“No! I mean yes you were! Sir… and…” Nash looked away in embarrassment, his entire face flushed a bright shade of pink. ‘What am I even trying to say to him right now?!’ He wondered to himself.
“I’m joking.” Chazz said as he leaned forward and whispered into the man’s ear. “Thanks for the compliment…” He said in a low whisper that made Nash question if the man wasn’t trying to get him into bed again.
“S-sir…” Nash stumbled of his words again as he took a big step back. “If that’s everything then I’ll be going then…” He turned his back to the man and held onto the door knob as if he was holding onto dear life itself. ‘HE WHISPERED INTO MY EAR!’ He thought to himself in an erratic sounding voice.
“Wait… Nash, right? I was wondering if you wanted to do it again?” Chazz asked as he reached out and grabbed hold of the man’s arm.
“Now?” Nash asked in a surprised voice. “Sir… my ass actually… I’m not saying it’s because of you but it does hurt a bit and… not to mention I was hired for only two hours and it would be… and…” He didn’t really know how to make an excuse if any.
“Not right now… but one of these days, if you don’t mind that is…” Chazz suggested, he chuckled once more as he looked at the man’s shaky hands.
“Um… well…” Nash looked at the man. “It’s… just I don’t know if it’s appropriate even though I liked it and… yeah… um…”
“I’ll pay you your rate for cleaning, make it double or triple maybe?” Chazz suggested as he leaned forward again, speaking next to the man’s ear. “What do you say?” He asked.
“Deal!” Nash said enthusiastically, then as if realizing it was rude corrected himself. “I mean… yes that’s a great deal, thank you! I’ll… I’ll go now…” He stumbled outside the room again, while Chazz walked back to his seat.
“See you next week…” Chazz smiled while looking at the man and then turning back to his computer screen…
