The large training room was quiet only for a few seconds, as Alpha Chelsea wiped the sweat on her forehead, took her stance once again and, with one last punch, sent the third punching bag flying before landing on the ground with a thud. A smirk spread across Alpha Chelsea's face as she cracked her knuckles and looked towards Gamma Neil, a 50-year-old werewolf who was once a warrior but had been her trainer ever since she turned thirteen. "Ready for a spar Neil?" Alpha Chelsea challenged her trainer as she retied her curly hair to make sure it didn't fall out of place and get in the way. "No thanks, I will pass," Neil said as he stood up and stretched his muscled arms. "You sure Gamma?" Alpha Chelsea asked, while throwing some punches into the air. She had spent the last three hours training and kicking down punching bags and right now, her brown skin was a sweaty mess. "Yes I am very sure, Alpha," Neil replied with a bored expression. He knew the Alpha since she was a little girl and knew she used fighting as an escape for whenever she felt anxious. As much as she tried to stay strong on the outside, Gamma Neil knew that she was afraid. She turned twenty-one last week and today, as the moon becomes full, a mate ball will be held. All the other unmated Alphas, Betas and the best warriors from other packs had been invited in the hope that Alpha Chelsea would find her mate. Then she would be formally declared Alpha of the Dark Forest pack. It had been the rule for ages that every Alpha must have a mate, and no one was willing to change it because of one person. There was only one other female Alpha, Alpha Jennifer of the Red Blossom pack, who became Alpha at the age of forty and whose mate happened to be a beta, so there were no challenges there. Alpha Chelsea knew even from a younger age that her life wasn't going to be normal like the other girls. And she secretly envied them just as much as they secretly envied her. While they saw her as the Alpha's daughter who had everything she could ask for while growing up with just a simple command and that one day she would get an Alpha for a mate and continue ruling over them. They all assumed she would be spoiled since she was an only child. On the other hand, Chelsea envied the freedom they had which she would never get to experience. They were free to be careless in their lives once in a while, while she had to be careful in everything she did and stay away from scandals since she was the only heir to the Dark Forest pack. That meant no drinking, which she didn't mind, but there was also no partying. She was home schooled along with Xander, the beta's son and her future beta, so the two naturally became best friends. Chelsea had to spend extra time learning things only a good leader would care to know about, which meant a lot of extracurricular activities and less time for herself. The rest of her time in which she didn't spend studying, she was training. She had been told many times that, as the heir to one of the largest packs, she had to appear strong all the time. At first, Chelsea thought that this was because she was a girl, until she learned that other Alphas sought to expand their packs by defeating the Alphas of other packs and taking over. Her being a girl meant that any show of weakness would lead to them challenging her. So she trained hard to become the best warrior in her pack and was able to beat Gamma Neil at the age of fourteen. "Then get me someone to fight with," The alpha gritted a little harshly. "Alpha, you know all the warriors have been sent to check and secure the pack areas and all of them are very busy at the moment in preparation for the mate ball, which you should also be getting groomed for," the Gamma crossed his arms over his chest and dared to remind her of what she had been trying hard not to think about with a stern look on his face. She was supposed to be excited today, yet for some reason, she felt anxious and had an uncomfortable feeling that things might go wrong from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning. "It's already past 5pm and you know our guests will be arriving in an hour's time." "Okay, okay," she groaned. "I will leave. But please get me someone to fight with, anyone. I need to feel the satisfaction of knocking someone to the ground and these punching bags just don't do it for me." "Alright, I will get someone for you," Gamma Neil said and went out of the training room. That gave Alpha Chelsea the chance to think just for a moment. Things like, what was her mate going to be like? Would he be arrogant? Good looking? Nice? Same age as her or slightly older? Would he be stronger than her or the same strength? Would he want to have children immediately? She definitely didn't. And how many would he want? She wondered to herself. "Here, I brought you someone." Gamma Neil announced, breaking her chain of thoughts. Alpha Chelsea looked towards the door to see him coming in with a guy and she scrunched up her nose, feeling as if he had just insulted her whole being. "Seriously, Gamma? An omega?" she said, referring to the guy he had beside him. "He is a warrior too, Alpha, and he can fight." "I know he can fight Neil, I just thought you would bring me someone worth my time," she boasted. Neil and the warrior didn't like the way she demeaned the omega. Omegas were known to be a weaker species of werewolves. But over time, they had proven themselves that they could do just as much if given the chance. The omega felt offended for being stigmatized over the fact that he had to work twice as hard to achieve what other werewolves could do. But despite that, he bowed his head in respect to his Alpha. "This is," Gamma Neil started to introduce the warrior to her. "No need for that," Alpha Chelsea shrugged him off. "Now let's end this," she stood ready and motioned with her head for the warrior to come forward. "Whenever you are ready," she said cockily towards him. Gamma Neil went back to his chair and sat down, observing the two as the warrior stood in front of the Alpha and prepared to throw a punch. The alpha saw that and quickly threw a punch of her own, self-assured that that would be the end of the fight, but the warrior swiftly dodged it, much to her surprise. Alpha Chelsea had thought the fight would end in a few seconds, but the warrior kept dodging until he mastered her moves, then he managed to throw a punch to her face which completely caught her off guard and she staggered back. The warrior was starting to feel smug, but this time, the alpha decided to stop going easy on him, so when he threw the next punch, she caught his fist in hers. She punched his abdomen and he groaned in pain. As he raised his leg to kick her, Alpha Chelsea quickly kicked his other leg and let go of his hand, which made him lose balance and fall ungraciously to the ground. And her smirk was back on. "Nice one," Gama Neil clapped from his chair. "I hope you are satisfied now, Alpha." "Yeah, I have to go now," she grimaced. As she walked towards the door, the warrior ,who had just been defeated, stood up and watched her retreating back as her hips swayed from left to right. Gamma Neil knew the omega was going to boast to the others, possibly make up a lie or two about how he sparred with the beautiful alpha and gave her a tough time.
