CHAPTER LXXVIII : THE RESERVOIR AND THE CAMP OUT

                         The challenge back at an island in the State of the Earth Metals was quite difficult yet amazing. They call it the Cinnabar Island. I couldn’t believe we’ve done it. At first I thought that we couldn’t make it, but then we worked as a team and made it. Harald lived in this country so he had the advantage to lead us.

                         Everything really was so unexpected but what else should we do aside from accepting it. It was such an amazing experience though. Good thing, Harald somehow knows about this place and that’s one thing to make us not worry so much. This challenge taught us to be optimistic ahahaha.

                         Instead of complaining that Harald only has a little knowledge about this island in their country is that, we were so glad that still he had a little knowledge about this island in their country. Which is already a great help, everything starts from that little knowledge though.

                         After our challenge in the Island of Markhors, we immediately flew to an island under the territory of the State of the Earth Metals, where Harald exactly knew. It is in a group of islands in the north of the country. Harald said he already went there once, and what it is now is very different when he came there.

                         He said that he went there when he was a child and there were only a few people who lived there. but as we got there, there were many people with buildings, houses, and so on which shocked him a lot. He didn’t expect that things would be so fast in that island. But he’s happy for the progress though.

                         It’s just that, he came here so long time ago and everything changed that made him not so familiar with the place. But it’s true that once you’re in your territory, it wouldn’t be so difficult to move. So Harald still composed himself and led us all through the whole island.

                         I admire his leading skills ahahaha though he didn’t know anything, he still managed to lead us and finish our task. He was so good that despite not knowing much, he still pushed us all to succeed, and of course he didn’t just do it alone. It became possible because all of us helped each other. In a team, one’s strength is useless without the others.

                         He told us his story when he came there. He said that there were only a few people on the island, they built a water well connected to a spring nearby. They made good use of that water well so much. They used that to improve their livelihood in that island.

                         He said that he visited the place because his mother knew someone who lived there. he even made a friend named Laverne. Good thing, they still know each other despite not meeting for so many years. Their main problem is that recently, the water well dried up.

                         It’s not giving them water anymore, and it’s affecting their main source of food which is farming. The water well is their main source of water and aside from it, there no other source they have. Well, there are bodies of water within the village, but it’s somehow far from their village. And having no water supply really is so difficult.

                         It’s so funny how the Ordo king thought of solving the problem. Though it’s none of his jurisdiction, he just thought that it would be fit for our training. So he told the government of this country that he’d help through us. But at least our training had been so productive in different aspects. It’s not just benefiting us, but also the other people.

                         So we were so shocked when Laverne told us that a man came here who introduced himself as someone from the Psychic kingdom who’s here to help us. She said that there will a group of people coming here to help us, which obviously pertained to us. None other than us ahahahaha

                         Our quest maker also explained that our challenge will be helping these people about their problem. Our initial plan was to go inside the well to check its problem. But we thought that if we would just fix the well, the problem might occur again so we thought of something more.

                         We tried formulating something that would help them not just in this well, but at something that will give them more source as a plan b whenever their main encounters problems. We’ve got to do something if it means to bring the spring or the river here or to create multiple wells ahahahaha.

                         We still tried entering the well though. I, Harald, and Hazol went down to fix it, while the others were left above to pull us up after doing our work. As we went down, we noticed due to it being old, some stones used here broke down causing the water to be block and not get to the well itself.

                         We immediately fixed the damage and brought back the water to the well. I blocked the water from flowing while Harald and Hazol fixed it. Instead of leaving it cemented, Harald thought of covering it with some metals like platinum, brass, copper, bronze, aluminum and steel since these metals doesn’t react with water.

                         These metals don’t rust. Rusting occurs when iron combines with the oxygen in the air causing it to corrode. Rust causes the metal to expand, which can place great stress on the structure as a whole. Which Harald explained to us, so he chose those metals that don’t rust so that it won’t get destroyed.

                         Vedasto quickly pulled us back as we signaled him. The people were so happy for our help. But it didn’t end there, Hazol thought of making them an irrigation system since the island has so many bodies of water in it. He told us to help him build it so that these people won’t encounter having problems with water shortages.

                         Irrigation system is the artificial source of water to be applied on their farms so that they don’t have to work manually upon growing their plants. From the river, we all made a ditch going to their farms and making a water reservoir in there so that they don’t have to gather water from the well using their bare hands.

                         At least from now on, they already had their water supply near them and not just relying on their well which will eventually need some repairs soon. They were so happy that they finally don’t have to worry about losing their water supply, unless they would experience drought and all their rivers and springs would dry out.

                         But for now, growing their farms would be much easier now that water supply had come to them already. Harald and Laverne, already said their goodbyes to each other as we needed to leave and head for the next challenge. But before we left, the people of the island offered us of their harvests to help us along our journey.

                         Good thing we had Eeya with us, we had our walking freezer to preserve our food ahahahaha. I wonder how the other team is doing now. I bet they’re doing great, they can have their own improvised freezer using Astral’s power and some water though. That could come in handy…

                         Our next destination is in this independent island southwest from State of the Earth Metals and Northwest of the country of Mortals. None of us knows what’s in there, yet were using my hippogriffs to get us in there. But I think that we’d be camping out in there since it’s getting dark already.

                         It’s called the Cornelian Island. We already met the quest maker, we just told him that we would just do the task tomorrow morning since, it’s already dark and that we can’t guarantee to finish it by night. It wouldn’t be so nice if we won’t have our sleep tonight. We won’t have enough strength for the whole day tomorrow.

                         I think we’ll just continue this tomorrow. Two tasks in a day, that should do it. We’re not in a hurry anyway, after all our goal is to learn and to pass all the challenges, not to win and to finish it faster than the other group. We won’t learn anything if that’s our mindset. Hazol already told us about that before.

                         Good thing none of us had gone astray from that principle.

                         The quest maker allowed us though, he even said that it’s a nice decision that we made. He told us that we don’t have to force ourselves today to finish the challenge, there are still more days though. He also told us that our health is more important, what’s the use of finishing the task if we’ve gotten weak.

                         Since this island is not inhabited by people and we still don’t know what’s in there, so we decided to camp out here in the beach. It’s nice to do it here anyway, I bet it would be so pleasing to look up and stare at the stars while lying down on the soft sands and hearing the waters splashing on the shore.

                         Vedasto, Zexal, Harald, and Hazol went to the forest to gather some fire woods and leaves that we’d be using to layer on the sand so that we don’t have to lie down directly on it ahahaha. While I, Eeya, and Zati were left here in our vehicle to prepare our dinner with some of those food that were given to us.

                         Turid wasleft here with us while his owner was there in the forest.

                         “I didn’t expect that we’d also be camping along our training” Zati said while she’s busy doing her job

                         “Me neither… it really is a training for survival” I added agreeing with her “It’s my first time doing this anyway” I added as I looked at them telling them that I haven’t been in a camping before

                         “Gosh, me too. I haven’t done this before” Zati said informing us too

                         “It’s so amazing that we get to do this right now” Eeya said as she smiled while helping us doing our task. We just continued making our food for tonight as we wait for the others.

                         “Yea, at least in times like this, we get to release all of our stress while doing the challenges, right?” I said agreeing with what Eeya had said. I was just so excited camping out. Yesterday, we get to sleep at someone else’s house, but right now, we get to sleep right under the moon ahahaha.

                         Just the thought of it, makes me feel so happy.  

                         After a few minutes, we’re done with making the dinner, and noticed that the boys are on their way here. They have some fire wood with them, and some leaves. They waved their hands implying that they’re coming, so we went down from the vehicle to meet them.

                         As they got near here, we quickly placed the fire woods then I set the fire. They placed the leaves around the bonfire and went to positions. Zati and Eeya handed us our dinner then we started eating in front of the bonfire that gives us the comfortable heat that we needed for tonight.

                         After eating, we just stared at the sky that shone bright due to the light from the moons and stars. We chatted for a while about some random topics then immediately want to bed after Hazol made us a warm mats and blankets out of his power that we’ll be using to lie on as we sleep.
