A Loveless Marriage

Chapter 15

Magnus’s POV

It has been a long time since I tried to be nice to anyone, or should I say I never cared about being. Being nice to Natalia is the last thing I consider doing, but I can’t deny the fact that my daughter needs her. Her presence is a cure for her. Andrew suggested I, accept her as Xenia’s mother, but the thing is, I am just not sure how to do that.

Looking at her face, I remember Sophia and her body in my arms. I can’t forget Xenia crying beside me, and I was unable to hear her cries because of Theodore. It was the worst day of my life. The most painful day of my life.

But I know whether I like it or not, I have to make sure that Xenia is safe. I have to ensure that Sophia is happy seeing her happy in her life. Keeping all these things in mind, I will do anything that is in my hands to keep my daughter happy and safe.

With that, I left the hospital garden and went inside the hospital where Natalia was sitting keeping Xenia in her arms. As soon as I entered the room, she looked at me and motioned me to be quiet and I nodded.

She made Xenia lay down on the bed and, came out of the room and stood beside me near the window in the hospital lobby. We were both looking out of the window and started talking with each other without giving a glance.

“Is she fine?”, I asked, and she nodded, saying, “Yeah, she is.”

I was quiet before I asked again, “Natalia, where did you go?”

“Theo took me with him. He wanted me to go back with him.” she told me in short, and before I opened my mouth again she continued, “But I escaped.”

Listening to her, I turned to her shockingly and asked, “Why?”

“Because I want to be with my family.”, She replied with a smile and I don’t know why, but I had no words.

“I want to be with my girl.”, She continued further, and unknowingly I asked her again, “How can you love her that much?”

“Why can’t I?”, she asked, and I replied, looking again out of the window, “I don’t leave a chance to hurt you.”

She made me turn to her again, touching my arm, and said, which after Andrew no one could do, “Because you are not yourself. You are just surpassing your emotions. You are not what you show.”

I don’t know what is happening to me, but these are the things that I rarely listen to but I let her speak this time. She said, “And Xenia, she is everything to me. I don’t know if I will ever be a part of your life, but Xenia is an inseparable part of my life.”

I nodded, and she added, “I am not her biological mother, but I am still her mother and I will always be.”

“Thank you for coming back.”, I told her, and I think from the time I married her it was the first time that I thanked her for something.

Natalia’s POV

It had been two weeks since that day when Magnus and I had that conversation. The next day, Xenia was discharged from the hospital. I am happy that, at least as a father, he is taking care of Xenia. He goes to the office on time and comes before dinner so that we can spend time with her.

The doctor suggested we give her time, since instead of medicine, she needed care from her parents, and we decided to do everything possible.

Today is Monday and Magnus is getting ready. Xenia is in her room sleeping, and I am making breakfast. I was so engrossed in my work that I lost track of time. Magnus had still not come downstairs. Without thinking for a second, I went upstairs to call him.

I was about to knock on the door when I heard Magnus yelling, “Andrew, what is all this?”

“Exactly what you are thinking?”, I heard, concluding that his phone was on speaker.

“I don’t have time for this.”, Magnus said, and Andrew forced him to, “Come on, man. I met her personally. She is extremely hot and trust me she can help you.”

“What do you think of me?”, Magnus asked, but I didn’t hear anything after that because I didn’t know why I felt so hurt.

Magnus’s POV

I was getting ready for the office when I received a text from Andrew with the details about a girl and I slapped my forehead with frustration. I picked up my shoes and dialed Andrew’s number to ask him what he was planning. I kept my phone on speaker so that I could put on my shoes.

As soon as he picked up the phone he started blabbering about the girl. I got more frustrated listening to him and asked, “What do you think of me, Andrew?”

“Means?”, He replied confusingly, and I asked more clearly, “Do I look like a science lab to you where you keep doing experiments?”

“Man, you will be fine.” he said again, and I almost yelled, “Andrew, I am not ill. I am just afraid of -” and he completed my sentence, “Afraid of sex.”

I was quiet, so he continued, “It is a medical condition and can be cured. But unfortunately, not with medicine.”

“Shut up.”, I said, and suddenly the door burst open and Natalia was standing at the door, “Magnus?”

I removed the phone from the speaker and Natalia told me, “Breakfast is ready.”

I replied, “I am coming.”

I put my on speaker again and Andrew spoke, “Magnus?”

But before he said anything, I replied, “Okay, fine. Just book a room in the hotel and I will meet that girl.”

Natalia’s POV

After calling Magnus for breakfast, I left his room, but before I left, I heard Magnus telling Andrew to book a room to meet the girl.

“Girl?”, I murmured, and my eyes filled with tears and I thought in my mind, “Are you again meeting another woman, Magnus?”

After having breakfast, Magnus left for the office and I went straight to Xenia’s room and hugged her. I felt pain and so hurt. I don’t know if it is my love for him or my ego as a woman who is getting rejected by her husband again and again. I hate the fact that it happens every time.

Once I was done crying, I saw myself in the mirror and asked, “Why are you upset? He always does that.”

“He doesn’t want you as his wife.”, I continued and suggested to myself, “Just let him do whatever he wants.”

Unknowingly, my eyes again filled with tears and I asked, keeping a hand on my heart, “But why does it pain a lot?”

“Why does the thought of him touching another woman make me feel bad?”, I asked again and looked at the ceiling, thinking God is there for me and asked, “Why, God?”

“Why?”

“Why?”
