ZANE'S POV
My brothers and I carried the body and wrapped it up in white clothes before we released one of the cars so that the driver could take it to the mortuary. His family will identify his body from there.
We had no choice but to continue the journey to the mines because we had to make sure the workers were safe.
On arriving, all the workers stood outside the mine as they stared in the direction of the open cave.
Roshan was the first to get down from the car. He walked towards the direction of the manager on site. Instead of following him, i walked towards the cave, and I froze. The amount of negative energy that was coming from the hole was dangerous. I turned my head, and I beckoned one of the closest workers to come close to me.
"What happened here?" I questioned. I heard footsteps behind me, and I felt Aiden's presence behind me.
"We were working before everywhere went cold and two of the workers dropped their tools and walked towards the sound. We tried to talk to them, but they refused to answer, then we heard a loud scream. We all had to leave. It took a while, and they hadn't yet come back, so a party of four volunteered to go search for them," He explained.
"Do you think we should check it out?" Aiden asked.
"I doubt if Roshan will agree, but i want to check it out," I inquired.
"Let's go check the place out, I don't think it's anything normal," Roshan said as he walked past us, and I glanced at Aiden before we followed him behind.
"But sir, I don't think it is a good idea. Some of the strongest men went, and they haven't returned, " the manager tailed us carefully.
"Are you comparing us, your Alphas, to those measly men?" Anger reflected in my eyes as I spoke.
Immediately, the manager bowed his head at our feet, "Forgive me, young lords, i deserve death for such statements. I won't stop you again, sir, at least take this," he begged before he handed us a gem stick.
He glared at him before he handed it over to Aiden, continued wrapping down the Cave, and the energy only became stronger as we went down till the lights were no longer there. The little stick that was handed to us glowed as we reached the darker part.
"s**t!" Roshan cussed as he almost tripped on something.
Aiden pointed the stick at what he tripped on, and I winced. I moved closer to expect the body, and it dawned on me. It was the same thing with the body earlier.
"The corpse, it's the same thing as that body from earlier," I announced.
"I noticed. Let's keep checking. Maybe we can find whatever creature is in there," Roshan kept on walking.
I raised the body and placed it on the wall in a sitting position.
"Please help," a male voice cried, and I followed the sound to find two men hiding in a corner with blood on their arms and the other one had a bleeding wound above Bin's left eye.
"What happened? What attacked you?" I questioned.
"Some dark mist, it possessed one of us, and now he is running after one of us , trying to kill us,"
I yelled, echoed from the end of the tunnel, and I glanced at Roshan.
"Aiden, help this man out. They need medical attention! Let's go Check!" Roshan yelled at me before he ran to the sound. I grabbed the glowing stick from Aiden, and I followed him. I still didn't understand why I was compelled to carry it even if we could all see perfectly fine in the dark.
Just like he said, one of the men was trying to kill him. The possessed one was blonde, and the one getting attacked was bald. Roshan jumped at the blonde one, and I ran to pull the bald man away.
All of a sudden, the host shifted, and the bald man was the possessed one. I knocked him out unconscious, and the host shifted back again.
Roshan knocked the blonde unconscious, too, and most left his body. We saw it floating in thin air. Swirling around us, trying to find who to possess, I tried to grab it, but it was dissolved in my hands.
"Grab them and get the hell out of here!" Roshan yelled at me, and I looked at him dumbfounded.
"What the f**k? Did you hit your head somewhere? I am older, i f*****g came out first, get the s**t out of here!" I yelled at him as I handed the passed out man to him.
"f*****g get out!" I yelled, and he ran out with both of them in his hands.
The mist circled me before it formed into a familiar figure. I stepped back, confused, almost letting my guard down before it attacked me.
This must have been how it possessed the men.
"Oh moon goddess, lend me your powers in my hands, for your child needs help!" I called out before I tried to grab it again, and it caught fire.
Wails echoed in the cave as it slowly burned down to its death. I moved closer to the dying frame, and I caught a black obsidian in sight. It must have been stored in that.
I leaned down, and I grabbed the stone before i turned around to leave.
But my body refused to leave, the cave suddenly turned cold, and I felt shivers throughout my body. I felt cold hands caressing my face and my thighs. I felt my hands wrap around my throat, and my breathing became constricted.
"Zane," a female voice called, and I felt a cold tongue on my chest even though I was clothed.
"Let . . Go," I managed to say, but the hands only multiplied
I was getting sucked into a curse. Something was trying to possess me.
"Let go, and i will take you to her," the voice whispered, and I shook my head.
"Zane!" I heard Aiden's voice before I felt a knife move past my ear, and the tension broke.
