Chapter 5
Lance
Lance was getting nothing done at the office, spending way too much time staring out his window overlooking Main Street. The forecast called for snow and the temperatures were dropping fast, so the sidewalks were fairly empty.
Ash had left that morning to visit his mom in South Dakota and help her get settled in a new townhouse. Apparently she was downsizing. Lance’s parents had talked about doing that as well.
He glanced at his cell phone sitting on his desk and knew he needed to make that call. He’d already put it off for too long. He pressed the button to call his mom and waited for her to pick up.
