Wade
Dinner was much more festive than breakfast. The meeting with CPS had gone well for Casey and they were fast-tracking him to become Jake’s foster parent.
Landon had gone to invite Jake for dinner with the family. The kid was quiet most of the time, but the smile he wore was genuine. He and Landon talked about school—it sounded like they both knew a lot of the same people.
“We’ll get you registered for next semester,” Casey told him. “With only about a week and a half left in the semester, there’s no point in you starting now. But we’re going to move you in to a bedroom upstairs. You can still work the ranch while you’re waiting to get back into school, but once school starts, we’re going to make that a priority over ranch work. Just like we do with Landon.”
