Fueling Up

When I saw the signs for Horseshoe Bend, I knew we were getting close. It was less than a half hour to Boise. I glanced over at Livy. She was sprawled out in the passenger’s seat sleeping deeply. I figured we could stop for lunch, rather than just a short fill up on gas.

I pulled into the first convenience store I saw and got gas. I figured I would add a little bit more when we got to Baker City, Oregon to try and make it all the way through to Tulelake. I knew it wouldn’t be likely we could make it without gas, but my hope was we would be nearly to California before we had to stop.

As I was making my way back to the car, after getting a couple bottles of water, my phone rang. It was Ben. I set the drinks on the driver’s seat and leaned against the car.
