“Ah, so bright.”
When Max come to his sense, the first thing he sees is a very bright light to the point that it almost blinds him. He didn’t know why, but it seemed similar to the commonly used lights in a surgery room.
“Where am I?”
Max wanted to get up from his current position but finds out that he is being tied to the table and couldn’t free himself.
“Max Air, fifteen years old. Orphans, victims of sector 53’s United Heroes headquarter bombing incident.”
“Who are you?”
“Me? I am a teacher at United Heroes school here in sector 53. I am called here specifically because of a person with a mental health condition that a normal psychiatrist couldn’t handle.”
Max looked confused at why he is being detained and why the one who is talking to him is a female teacher from United Heroes school.
“It seemed that you hadn’t realized your situation. You have almost gone crazy back there. If I didn’t do something, I bet you must have gone mental right now. more importantly, how you’re feeling?”
Max tried to examine his body, and other than his body aching all over, there’s nothing too serious.
“I’m feeling okay. Can you tell me where this is and what is happening?”
“Well, do you remember what happened before you passed out?”
Max is confused as to why this person is asking that. He tried to recall what happened, but he feels pain in his head instead.
“I can’t remember anything.”
“Well, that’s to be expected. Here, takes a look at this video.”
The surgery light then gets dimmed, and a monitor appeared in front of Max. The screen is playing a recording, and it shows a figure that is familiar to Max. It is Max himself. Max is curled up in a corner on the screen while his hand keeps on clutching his head.
“No, I didn’t do it on purpose. I didn’t kill them. No, I kill them. They are going to kill me, so I have no choice.”
Seeing his frantic appearance on the video, Max finally remembered what happened as he went crazy again.
“No! It wasn’t me. Get away from me. I’m not the one who killed you. Why are you chasing after me after you get killed for trying to kill me?”
“Max! Calm down!”
Max then looked to the side and saw the teacher again.
“Max, it’s not your fault. You need to calm down.”
Max tried to listen to the teacher’s suggestion, but he could see Bonio and Yann standing behind her.
“No, don’t come near. You guys are already dead!”
The teacher saw that Max’s pupil is moving left and right uncontrollably before taking a deep breath.
“It seemed that the damage to his mind is greater than what I thought before. *sigh* I can’t believe that the association is this careless. Someone who killed another person might be breaking down for the first time, but it has never been this bad. I think the stress that he accumulates over time is finally getting into him. Look at this, a five years old orphan is directly put into the orphanage without any other treatment. Not even a consultation to check on his mental state. Looking at the wound on his wrist, it must have been a suicide attempt. I wonder how the association could overlook something like this? More importantly, if what he said is true, he must have a superpower since he is the one who killed two B rank villains.”
The female teacher then thinks for a bit before she twirled her hand, and at that moment, a plant stem seemed to be growing from a pot that is located beside Max’s head. Finally, a flower rises from it as it rests in the middle of Max’s temple, and in the next moment, the flower body shook a little as if releasing its pollen, and Max falls asleep immediately.
“I think I need to get the truth from Max bit by bit. Has Yuna wakes up yet?”
“Yes, Miss Kalina. Yuna has woke up since she doesn’t really suffer any damage. Do you want to visit her?”
“I believe I should do that first before engaging the boy. Show me the way.”
“Alright, Miss. Follow me.”
Kalina, the female teacher plus psychologist of the United Heroes school, then followed a guard then headed to the hospital where Yuna is treated.
Yuna is surprised when the door is opened, and she saw a familiar figure entering.
“Teacher Kalina! What a surprise. Did you come because the school is worried about my absence?”
“Yuna, be more polite to your teacher.”
Yuna is acting all friendly, but then her parents scolded her for it.
“It’s alright, Mam, Sir, by the way, I feel bad asking this, but I have something to ask from Yuna. Could you give us some moment?”
“Why are you saying that, teacher? We can give you some time. Not a problem. Come, honey, let’s grab some food while we’re at it. Take your time, teacher.”
After Yuna’s parents leave the room, it is time for Kalina to say the purpose of her visit.
“Yuna, I’m sorry for asking you while you’re still taking a rest. But, can you tell me about what happened?”
“That’s not a problem, teacher. After all, I will need to make a report to the association sooner or later. It saves me the trouble of traveling to the headquarters.”
“But, I have a little bit of request.”
“What is it, teacher? You can speak comfortably to me.”
“I want you to tell me about Max too. Since you’re both in this together, I believe you know each other, right?”
“Well, I didn’t know him well, but I’ll tell you what I know.”
After that, Yuna then told her how she first met with Max and all the follow-up events. How she is trying to investigate after Vanya and Lindt and ends up being chased by Yann and Bonio. She tells Kalina how Max lured Bonio away and her fight with Yann.
“Then, if what you’re saying is true, then you didn’t know if Max has an ability or not?”
“yes. I doubt he has a superpower, though. If he did, he would have chosen to enter United Heroes school. Not to mention, I doubt he could really kill Bonio and Yann. I faced Yann one on one, and I barely able to do anything.”
“Well, Yann’s and Bonio’s body has been sent for autopsy, and there’s a residue of wind element superpower. More importantly, the power shown isn’t even at the level of D-rank. So, who knows?”
To tell the truth, it is a bit hard to swallow knowing at how a B-rank, almost A-rank villains died to a boy that is not even at the level of D-rank. However, a grown-up man can be killed by a child holding a gun, so there’s a chance for every possibility.
