Chapter 2: Problems Inside The Metal

Mic echoing can be heard from each of the speakers of the school. It seems like the principal was about to say something. Using the speakers is the most efficient way to keep in contact with everyone.     "News online says that an unknown virus started to spread around whole country. It's only a matter of time before it infects other countries which is why Philippines is under lockdown. The president already gave us one command. Survive."     This virus... Just what caused this. And why Philippines was the only one infected? Are we test subjects of some kind? I just hope that other countries would give us support in this disaster.     The door in front is opened. The guard appeared together with Ahllen and Loraine. The principal was really protected inside here huh...     "Thank God you guys are safe."     Rodner started the conversation. I stayed quiet thinking the future inside this school. We're still surrounded by metals and our only light source is the windows above.     Now that you think about it... What's the outside world look like now? Could it be that chaos still exist there? I mean, it's almost impossible for that to not happen. But still, we need to survive inside here...     "We're really lucky getting inside this kind of school."     "Yeah. If we're both in our designated schools, surely it will be a complete chaos around there."     I looked above. The glass window can be seen up there. If there was no walls that protect us here, surely I can't look at the sky right now.     Birds passed by. I was surprised to see that some of them are still surviving out there. They could just escape an attack by flying... Maybe humans should have that skill too at least. Thinking about it won't help though. I should focus more on the future inside this school.     Two days has passed and things are getting tough. We lack food. Today, we could hardly eat. In the future, we would join the guard outside the metal walls just to search for resources.     I went downstairs to check the surroundings. We were placed to rest in the fourth floor of the building which is why I need to use the staircase. I reached the the first floor after some time. I saw Loraine looking somewhat sad or down. It must be because we haven't ate anything yet. I should at least ask her problem right?     "Hey Loraine, having any problems?"     Loraine slowly turned his eyes to me. I walked beside her to easily talk to her. It wasn't that long when she started talking.     "Think about your families outside... How would they survive the attack from those monsters? Would they be safe until we see them? Shouldn't we doing something right now?"     Loraine's words hit me. That idea came across my mind some time ago but, I didn't bothered that much since I'm sure the government could help us in this mess. Still, I just wish they were somewhere safe.     "Don't bother that much. I'm sure the military would help them out."     Loraine nodded. Her face lightened up. Though, she's still looking down. I decided to talk some other stuffs to divert her attention.     "Remember the time when our classmates played basketball inside the room? They eventually hit the TV afterwards right?"     The conversation continued. Keeping your morale up is necessary in this apocalypse. I should help everyone the best way I could do.     Time passed and Loraine got back to her room. Here, I'm still looking at the school grounds. How long can we last in this place? What if another survivors wanted to stay here? it's also possible that bandits with heavy arms decided loot our place... Questions... A lot of them. I guess thinking won't help for now.     I stood up. There aren't that much of students around the school grounds as they were inside their room. It was around 3 in the afternoon as I check my phone.     Oh yeah. My phone... I didn't bothered to check it that much since I kept thinking about this apocalypse. Luckily, phones nowadays could last up to 1 month. That is if it's on power saving mode. Luckily, I usually turn it on to save on energy. Maybe this phone would come handy in the future.     I put my phone back to my pocket. I decided to walk around to kill time.     While walking, I realized that some buildings here are old enough. They were just repainted which is why it looks new. There are also lamp post beside some buildings. Though, it doesn't really work since electricity seems to be cut off due to the apocalypse.     I walked further. This time, I decided to observe the tall building that was built in the middle of the school. It doesn't look like some important place and it was just recently built. The tallness of this building seems like supporting the metals that protects us from danger. It passes through the other side which maybe we could at least take a glimpse there of the outside world.     "These are the under wears I stole, get anything you want from there."     "Hey, you're still hiding some on your bag. Show it to me."     "What! That's my chosen one. Don't interfere with my choice."     "You! Just give it to me already!"     "No! You're not having them!"     "Ha!"     I heard conversations from behind the building in front of me. I already went to the side to check what's happening. In my surprise, it seems like they are doing something sketchy.     One of them seems to get mad. He raised his laser gun and pointed it at the other one. I should do something right now. This could end up hurting each other.     "You thought you're the only one?"     The other guy raised his gun too. They are now both pointing guns at each other. What should I do now?
