Chapter 3 Canmore

after burying her mom, selling the house and her old car, Alexis and her brother a boarded an airplane to Canmore Canada. hours later they were both in a shuttle driving from the airport to their new home, Alexis had only seen a few photos of what the house looked like, the add said it was furnished and in a great neighborhood which was great, it had two bedrooms exactly what she needed and it was half the price of what she sold her mother's house for which left her and her brother a bit more money to survive for a few years or at least till he is out of high school. she had deposited half the money that was left from her mother's life insurance into and account under her brothers name for when he was ready for college, the rest was for them to live off school fees for Ben, private tutoring, whatever he needed to make his life better and with her new job things were gonna be a lot better for them. she was going to make sure of it. Alexis stroked her baby brother head softly, she looked at his tiny body laying in her lap and it reminded her of the night she had picked him up from Mrs. Jackson's house, the same night she had to explain the death of their mother to her five year old brother, it broke her heart seen him cry for his mommy. a single tear fell down her cheeks and she wiped it quickly she swore to never allow her brother to see her cry. the shuttle suddenly came to a halt, the had finally reached their destination. "Ben wake up, wake up Bennie" she said softly. Ben opened his tiny eyes and closed them again, the trip had made him tired. Alexis understood that she would have to carry her brother the rest of the way up to the house. "sorry sir, would you mind helping me with the luggage, i cant seem to get him to wake up." she said "sure thing maam" said the driver picking up her suitcases.  Alexis followed the driver up the driveway, she hadn't notice it before but the house didn't seem to be as small as the photos had shown, even thou it was a two bedroom, it was a lot larger than her mothers. it could have very well been a four bedroom house. "weird" muttered Alexis "i could have sworn the previous owner said he would be here" "well maam, I have helped you to your door, have a great evening." said the driver as he made his way to the shuttle. Alexis was about to take he phone out when a shadow in the far corner of the front porch made her jump. "Good evening Mrs. Roberts" said the stranger walking into the light at the front of the porch. Alexis turn to face her trespasser and froze, he was the most gorgeous man she had ever laid eyes on, he seemed to be around twenty four or so, his eyes were blue like the ocean with perfect lips but his body, his body screamed twenty four seven work out, but not the type of work out that scared you off, his physique was perfect for the rest of his body. "Mrs. Roberts" he repeated "yes, sorry it is Miss Roberts" she stammered "my name is Alexis Roberts but you can call me Alexis." "oh sorry" he apologized "Alexis, i am Ryan Walker; we spoke on the phone, i am the previous owner of this little Chateau'"he said motioning to the house before him. "nice to meet you" she said extending her hand "would you like me to help you with your luggage" he said opening the door for her to enter. "i would appreciate that very much" she replied Alexis walked in the house followed by Ryan who took her suitcases in, she looked around the inside of the house and giggled nervously. this house was no little chateau this was almost the size of Debbie's house and she lived in a very large house as her parents were well off. "are you sure this is the right house" she asked Ryan "this doesn't seem like a small two bedroom place." "oh it is," he said "it is a two bedroom, i just didn't mention that it also had a game room and well the master bedroom is a bit larger than normal bedroom as i have a private bathroom and it has a Jacuzzi in it." "please follow me" he said Alexis followed Ryan into what seems to be the master bedroom, only he was right this was no normal bedroom, it was twice the size of a normal master bedroom with not only a walk in closet but a huge bathroom and a balcony, the bathroom just as he said had a Jacuzzi and a very expensive looking shower. "the sheets on the bed are fresh if you want to set your son down" he said "i imagined you were going to be tired so i asked the cleaning lady that worked for me to add new ones to the master bedroom, i didn't know you were coming with company but the linen closet next to the bedroom has a few set of new sheets that were for the guest room, i had them bought in case i ever needed them and i never did, my new place has bigger bedrooms so i wont need them" "thank you" said Alexis putting her brother down on her new bed. Ryan took Alexis on a tour around the rest of the house, it was well furnished including the game room which still had a fifty five inch flat screen TV and a play station four. "are you sure i don't owe you any more money" she asked "it seems the value of this house is a bit larger than what i paid for it. "no" he answered "i put the house up on the market as is, and you bought it as is for the price i was offering so its all yours Miss Roberts. Alexis could see the look of amusement plastered all over Ryan's face, she could not believe that she had bought a mansion and not a small little house. "are you sure no lost brother, sisters or even uncles are going to try and kick me out of this house" she asked again Ryan chuckled at her question "Miss Roberts" he said " i assure you the house is completely yours and here are the ownership papers, you can call the number of my lawyer its on a card in the folder i just gave you and she will confirm it all." "anyway"he said looking at his watch"we would have this conversation another day, it is late and you need to rest so i would let you be; you have my number if you need please don't hesitate to call." "Miss Roberts" he said opening the front door "welcome to Canmore" with that Ryan Walker turned and walked out the house locking the door behind him.
