Chapter Two

1260 Words
Faith     The worst thing about being a grown up.. kind of and heading off to university was waiting for your friend's classes, which differed from your own to finish so you could hang out. My own classes had been over for a while and I had been stuck waiting outside the shop Missy had chosen for our kick-ass Halloween costumes, those were actual words for well over an hour. If she was much longer the battery on my phone would die and I would be left standing like a lonely i***t on my own. Instead of a lonely i***t on her phone. Still, I was ok for the time being, my headphones in listening to my music as I sat on the bench across the road from the shop waiting for her. My red converse clad foot tapping away happily as I read through the chapters one of my professors had set earlier. At least it wasn’t raining. Silver lining and all. It was only when a pair of crisp white sneakers came into view that in finally looked up and my eyes flew wide. What the hell? I saw his mouth move and fumbled trying o get the headphones out of my ears so I could actually hear what he was saying. Jumping when a warm body slipped on to the bench next to me. “Wh…” I stumbled over the word, pushing my glasses up my nose. “Hi again” “Um hello?”  I didn’t mean to make it a question but as I looked up at Sebastian's face I just couldn’t get the words to come out. “I didn’t catch your name before…” His friend, who was sitting far to close for comfort leant forward and I was enveloped by the smell of well worn warm leather. “That’s because I didn’t give you it” Now the shock had started to wear off that I was talking to not one but two sins I was worried. Why had they approached me? Men like them didn’t purposely talk to a girl like me. Not without having some ulterior motive. And it was usually a motive that left me in tears. “Fiesty” Leather jacket said next to me, his voice gruff. “I like it” “Pretty thing isn’t she?” Sebastian was tapping his foot impatiently, a smirk on his face as his friend leant back as if that way he could take me in more thoroughly that way. His grin was a flash of white on his tan face  “Yeah she is if you like the sexy nerd thing” He winked “And I'm starting to think I do” I straightened my shoulders. “What do you want?” “We want to know your name?” Leather jacket said. “And give you some advice” Sebastian followed up quickly and I felt my eyebrows shoot up. What the hell were The Sins doing trying to give me advice? “Faith, my name is Faith” I finally lowered my eyes under the weight of their gaze. “Faith” Leather jacket rolled it off his tongue as if he was tasting it, his blue eyes.so dark they seemed almost navy glittered. “Its perfect isn’t it Hunter” Sebastian was grinning widely. But least now I knew Leather jackets name. and could stop in fact calling him leather jacket. “Perfect and oh so apt” They both settled their eyes on me and I wilted. It was one thing to have a discussion with them, an unwanted conversation sure but it was quite another to have them both stare at me. “So yeah I'm going to go” I heaved the heavy backpack on to my lap, making a move to stand up. Sebastian's hands were hot as he pushed me back down. It wasn’t a rough movement but it left little room for argument. “We haven’t finished talking Faith” What the actual hell? They were the most popular guys on campus. Too gorgeous for their own good yet they were manhandling me? It didn’t make sense. “Yeah I think we have” “We are just trying to be friendly Faith since you are new here” Sebastian finally stood back and I blew out the breath I hadn’t known I had been holding. He had been far to close. “Thanks but seriously I have to go my friend will be here any minute” I watched as if in slow motion as his face closed down. There was something very similar to hatred in his dark eyes. “Yeah you would be better off ditching her” “You might find your time here easier if you do” It took me several seconds to digest what they had just said as my eyes flicked between each of them. Did they really expect me to ditch my roommate, my friend just because they said I should? Were they that conceited that they even thought they could ask such a thing? And I would agree? For the chance to be closer o them? My lips curled. “ Yeah not going to happen” Hunters eyes narrowed even further. “Honestly Faith it would be for the best, hey we would love to see you at our party tomorrow” He winked but there was no mistaking the anger in his voice. “If you agree to come alone of course” Sebastian had gone back to his foot-tapping and I took the time to sweep my eyes over them, with what I hoped was disgust. Both were tall, over six foot at least.  Dark hair styled with a careless ease that probably took them hours and that’s where the similarities ended. Sebastian was preppy if you went for the total fake nerd thing which I didn’t. being an actual real-life nerd I found it pathetic. And Hunter was the epitome of a bad boy. With his leather jacket and the hint of tattoos that swirled out from under his sleeves. They were total op[osites, not two guys you would expect to be best friends. “You will have much more fun without Missy”  I opened my mouth to say something scathing and shut it again. His meaning was clear. It was official the Sins were total assholes. “Yeah, I'm gonna pass” I stood up so suddenly that neither of them had a chance to grab for me. “Thanks for the fantastic offer though” My voice dripped sarcasm.  Whatever Missy had planned for them, I was on board it was time someone knocked them down a peg or two. As if by magic my roommate appeared across the street, her eyes widening as she caught sight of me flanked by two of the most gorgeous if totally infuriating men to walk the earth. I waved back  “Hey girl” I crossed quickly, not bothering to look behind me. I didn’t need to I could feel their eyes boring a hole into my back. “What the hell is going on?” “I'll tell you everything but get me out of here” I grabbed her arm, guiding her into the shop and the safety it offered.
