Chapter 2: Hiding From Everyone

GABBY POV***

    I start to shiver as I open my eyes and see I am still on the floor of my room. I see. My room Is dark and is being lit by the moon that is cascading from my window. I look around my room and see it's empty. I look at my clock on my nightstand and see it's 12 o'clock at night. I sigh as I hear my stomach growl. I sit up as my body feels like I got hit by a semi truck. I quickly walk to the kitchen hoping to get some Advil and apple slices maybe. I walk into the kitchen and see Luca sitting at the dining table working. I walk into the kitchen and grab some apple water and Advil. As I am walking I hear Luca call my name. "Hey Gabby are you feeling better we missed you at dinner". 

    "I'm sorry I wasn't feeling well, good night" I say as I speed walk to my room and lock the door. I Slide down my door and cry for my Dead friendship with Max, my fear of Max, and the fear of being alone. I let my tears fall until my eyes get heavy and I finally let my tiredness consume me. 

    I wake up and look around my room and see I'm still on the floor. I Stand up and grab my phone and see its five thirty in the morning. I decide to get ready even though school doesn't start until eight. I take a fast shower because this morning I want to avoid everyone. After my very quick shower I get dressed in my white hoodie with my softball number and last name on it. This was my last season playing and I bought this shirt because it was for memories. I throw on my black leggings and grab my slip on checker vans and go to brush my teeth. I look in the mirror and my eyes start to water. 

    I have a black eye and my lip is busted from the impact of Max punching. After I push my teeth and put my hair up in a ponytail. I begin trying to hide my black eye. I begin to put so much concealer on my face it only covers a little bit but makes it not noticeable. After I finish hiding my bruised face. I grab my bag off the floor and quietly make my way to the front door. I grab my keys off the wall and open the door and walk out and when I walk outside I lock it and make my way to the elevators. I press on the lobby button as the elevator dings. I check my phone and see it's six thirty  in the morning. I hear the elevator ding as I try to exit the elevator as I run into a really attractive man. He has blue eyes and brown hair. His jaw looks sharp enough to cut me. I look down and see his body is full of muscle.

    "I-I am sorry sir" I say as I look up as this man is looking down at me smiling his smile falters as he looks at my eye. I pry myself out of his arms as I speed walk away towards the back door that leads to the beach. I see the sun rise as I walk down the shore of the beach. I see an empty table as I sit down at the table checking my phone. I see my mom hasn't texted me nor my father not that matters. I see a text from Ava asking if I am ok.     

    Like she cares. I look at my ** and see a new post of Max partying last night at Jacy's house hanging out with his group that consists of Malcolm, Angel, Dominic, Alex, Angelina, and Stephanie. Max is taking a body shot off of Angel's body. I sigh and put my phone away. When did Max become such an asshole.  I know I am a freshman and he's a senior but our age shouldn't effect anything he's tho one who begged my mom to let me stay and not even a year later he's become an asshole.I look up and see the sun rising as I begin to watch the only thing that is relaxing right now. I check my phone and see it's seven thirty. I make my way to school and enter through the back door in the library. I see Mrs. Angie as she smiles. I smile back and put my hood up so you can't tell I have a black eye Makeup will only do it so much justice. I walk out of the library and make my way to English. I sit in the back right corner of the classroom as Max and his friend group walk in. I turn my head and completely ignore him and do not even glance his way the whole period after the class ends. I grab my stuff and walk to my next class math but before I could even walk into my class I am pulled into the janitors closet. 

    I open my eyes as Max turns on the light I try to walk out as he grabs my arm stopping me. "Gabby why is your hood up and on, it makes you look like a f*****g loser. You're embarrassing me, take this s**t off." he pulls my hood down as he looks at my eye and his eye widens. "OMG Gabby I didn't know I hit you this hard. I am so sorry-" I cut him off and push him away. 

     "Thats cute you're sorry after you punched me in the f*****g face and left me on the floor most of the night and went and partied" he tries to talk again but I cut him off. "f**k you Max stay away from me now on, I'll leave you alone. I am moving into my mom and Dads old apartment this week anyways". His eyes widened.

    "No Gabby please don't leave I love you so much and I couldn't imagine my life without you, it's just you don't fit in with my group and they would never accept you". I begin to smile as I try to talk as the door slams open and Angel looks at us well at me in disgust. "Why are you hanging out with this trash?" she asked Max who completely just changed his mood. "Angel let me finish this quickly then we can go to my truck". She nods and waits outside. I feel my chest tighten as he looks at me, "you know what f**k it Gabby you need to stay away from me from now I don't care anymore". What the hell is happening he was just confessing his love to me. "But Max you had just said you loved me and -" he cuts me off.

     "Gabby can you stop hanging around me, like I don't like you how is that so damn hard to understand." I scrunch my nose in disgust as I look him up and down. "You didn't say that when you said you'd love me!" I yelled in his face and he looked me up and down and sighed. "Gabby, why would I ever look at you as anything more than a sister. you're ugly" his eyes raked down to my stomach and he looked at me with disgust, "And you're body don't even get me started with that, I wouldn't sleep with you if you were the last person in the world" he said as he let go of me and walked out of the closet. Leaving me alone in my tears.

   After he walked out I heard laughing coming from Angel as they walked away. I opened the Janitors closet and walked out and went into the office to talk to the principal to see if I had enough credits to graduate. 

    When I walked into the office I asked to talk to the principal as I took off my hood and put my hair down. "Gabriella he will now talk to you". I walk into his office. 

    "Please Mrs. Gabriella take a seat, how may I help you today?"I sit down and get right into it. "Mr. Lewis, is there any possible way i could graduate right now?"

    He nods, "Mrs.Gabriella you need about 50 credits to graduate but you are willing to take the senior finals tomorrow you will be able to graduate but Gabriella I recommend-" I cut him off. "Thanks Mr. Lewis I will see you tomorrow". I stand up and walk to the front desk as I grab a pass to my math class. I walk in and see Dominic and Malcom laughing at something as Angelina is on her phone minding her own business. I know what you're think why am I in a senior class its because I had scored really high on my Math test that places me into a class. I give my teacher the pass as I sit down in my seat in the back of the class. I quickly open my notes as Malcom tries to bug me.    

    "Hey tubby, why were you late?" he asks as I ignore him. He pokes my side "Yo tubby answer me you dumb bitc-" 

    "Shut the f**k up Malcom leave her alone, she's literally doing her school work". Angelina Looks at me and smiles and Malcolm shoots glares at me. As I shrink in my chair trying not to be noticed. When the class ends I pick up my things and go to my locker and grab my things for my last two classes and my bag as I walk into the library for lunch and the next period. 

    I walk in as I am greeted by Mrs. Angie. "Hello Dear are you feeling better?" I nod as I hear students come in and I sit behind the desk as I hear Max's gang. I sit on the floor as I hide from them. "Mrs. Angie, have you seen Gabriella?" I hear Malcom ask as she shakes her head. "Yes actually she left a couple minutes ago to go sit on the beach like she usually does during lunch". I hear their footsteps get farther away as I stand up and sit in her chair. 

    "Thank you Mrs. Angie I didn't want to deal with them today" She nods and sighs. "I don't know why you don't just report them, they have obviously been picking on you for a while." I shake my head. "Not worth the drama." I hear the bell ring that indicates lunch is over. I put my stuff down and walk down towards the books and start fixing them. After I finish I hear the bell. I pick up my bag and walk to Auto none of Max's Group has this period so I should be fine. 

    "Hey Mr.Norm sorry I missed yesterday." he smiles and nods. "It's totally fine Gabby you're probably only one of my students that actually does their work and follows along". I smile and  take my seat. Today we are working on changing the brake pads. After 20 minutes my group finishes first as the there groups continue to put on the pads upside down or backwards. I sigh as we put one of the old cars back on the floor off of the jack stands. I go to wash my hands as I feel someone behind me. I turn around and I see Dominic staring at me. 

    "Can you like back the f**k up" I say as I dry my hands. He laughs as he gets in my face"Watch  your back w***e" he said as he tried to walk away. But Mr. Norm had heard what he had said. "Dom get your ass over here."Dom froze and began walking back. He looked at Mr. Norm who had heard the whole conversation. "What the hell did you tell my Star student?" I feel my heart in my stomach as Dominic turns pale as the loose leaf. "As my T.A. you should be setting an example of how to act towards other students if you're not going to show my favorite student respect or even apologize don't let the door hit your ass on the way out". Mr. Norm looked at me and smiled. Dom look pissed as hell

    "I'm sorry Gabby I should have said that to you". I was about to accept when Mr. Norm grabbed Dom by the shirt. "I may only be your dad's friend but I had practically raised you when your parents were busy, and I know you've changed ever since you had started hanging around that Malcom kid I recommend you stop hanging around with trash because it will always follow you". Mr. Norm says as he drops Dominic. Mr. Norm walks away as I look at Dom expecting him to lash out at me except his frowns as he walks away.

    After that class I go into my last class which is Spanish. After walking in the class I sit in the back of the room. After 45 minutes the bell rings and we are dismissed. I begin walking to the library as I hear someone yell my name. I turn around and see Dom walking towards me. "Hey Gabby can we talk". I nod as we make our way out the back and on the beach. "First off I just wanna say that I am sorry for how I have treated you all these years, and I know saying sorry isn't going to do s**t so I am here to show that I actually want to show how sorry I am". I nod and look around. 

    He laughs as he shakes his head. "Angelina and I are going to leave the group. She's tired of them being assholes to everyone and I hadn't gotten a wake up call on how I was treating everyone until Mr. Norm called me out". I nod as I begin to walk away. I spot Angelina walking towards us as she hugs Dom. "Hi Gabby do you wanna hang out with us this afternoon?" she asks as I shake my head. 

    "I have to go do homework. I will see you later .'' I say not giving them a chance as I walk back to the resort. Why the hell are they trying to be nice to me, something doesn't feel right I think to myself as I walk into the resort. As soon as I walk in I see Luca asking around for me. I make a bolt towards the elevator to go hide but he quickly sees me and catches me. He turns me around as his eyes widen as he takes off my hoodie and looks at my eye. Fuck.......
