It was a busy day in my office. I got a lot of orders from the client but still couldn't help but think about Detective Lindsay Jones; how could she react if she saw his twin shadow or he saw his devil twin shadow?
"Hi, sir, are you done with the quotations, Face Cosmetics wants to know how much they'll going to pay?" asked Freia, his secretary.
"Sure, here," I immediately give her the computations of the products they ordered. The secret to his success is to be hands-on with his business. He has his staff, but he keeps double-checking everything to see if everything is right.
"Thank you, sir," said Freia.
"You're most welcome," I replied.
Some thought I was gay because of the line of business I was in, but thanks to my Aunt Guadalupe for giving me her diary as my inheritance, the secret of my success.
Time is ticking fast, and I am almost done with the office hours. I have a few hours to go until I meet Detective Jones; I do hope she hasn't changed her mind about meeting me at Lake Park.
I decided to eat out while killing my time; I don't know why I feel this excitement in my heart, knowing to see Lindsay any moment from now.
"Oh, man, don't tell me you're in love with her?" I chuckled, laughing at myself because the last time I broke up with my girlfriend,d, I promised not to be in love with blond ha,ir, and here I am again. 'Come on, man, you're not in love; you just need her help,' I said to my mind, convincing my inner self.
I was about to eat when I spotted Detective Jones. I was in a restaurant outside the park. I knew it would be close around 10 o'clock, so they still had two hours to explore the night and do shadow hunting.
"Hey, Detective Jones," I proudly call her.
Some of the customers looked at her, and she seemed shy, but she smiled at the customer who smiled at her.
I saw her walk towards me and give me a grinning look.
"What are you doing here?" she asked while I was about to take my bit of the food I ordered.
"Well, as you can see, I'm having my dinner, and I think you are supposed to have your dinner too since you came here," a sarcastic tone came out of my mouth, and I saw her raise her brows.
"So I came here so that you can annoy me more, huh?" she sarcastically replied to me.
I laughed.
"Okay, I am sorry. Have a seat, and let's have dinner before we go shadow hunting," I said as I moved the chair next to me for her to sit.
She looks at me like I will do something wrong to her.
"Come on, I won't do anything to you. Have a seat and order whatever you want; since I beg you to meet me here, I'll treat you to dinner," I said.
She smirked at me like I was kidding.
"I'm serious, Detective Jones," I seriously said and continued eating.
She slowly sat next to me and ordered food; I was slowed down having my food when I heard her ordering too much food.
"Wait, are you doing to eat all of that?" I interrupted her by ordering her food.
"You said I will order whatever I want?" she mumbled and rolled her eyeballs.
"Okay, I just wondering if that fits your sexy tummy," I said, then smiled at her. The staff getting her order smiled at what I said.
"Are you annoying me?" sheirritablyyaskedg him as he shrugged his shoulder.
"Nope, I just love looking at you blushing," I replied.
I saw her calming herself and not losing her temper.
"Look, Mr. Sanchez, I don't have time to play with you; if you're boring, then find someone to ease your boredom," she grinned at him and stood up, wanting to leave him.
I immediately grabbed her hand to stop her.
"I'm sorry, I apologized, okay, I will be civil to you," I said with a sincere look on my face.
She looked at me intently, weighing if I was true to what I was saying.
Her order arrives; she looks hungry, so she can't resist and slowly goes back to her seat.
I smiled secretly. She started eating, and I was amazed looking at her eating her food without pretensions. While watching her, I know she's different from the girl she dated.
She maybe noticed him watching her because she stopped eating and looked at him.
"I didn't do or say anything," I immediately said as I felt guilty.
"Can you please stop staring at me?" she irritably annoyed and frowned her forehead.
"I am sorry, I just love looking at you," I said with a stammer in my voice. I had never been like this talking with women, but with Lindsay, I lost my confidence.
Lindsay looks at her intently. "Listen, Mr. Sanchez, I'm not fully convinced about your concern, but I am here because, as an officer, my work is to verify your concern," she said angrily.
I sighed. "Thank you, detective, I appreciate your effort to help me," I said seriously but looking at Lindsay's face. She seemed not fully convinced that I was serious.
After almost one hour at the restaurant, we finally moved to the park, we still had an hour to roam around.
As we keep walking to the woods, the moon becomes bigger and brighter.
It was hard to start a conversation so I decided to keep quiet.
"If you are planning to do something, don't bother," Lindsay waned at him.
I frowned. 'Do I look like a criminal?' asking myself.
"What can I do to believe I'm not a bad person," I said with desperation, then walked ahead.
I know her eyes are following me. I didn't know that her eyes were getting big because she could see a shadow following his shadow.
"M-Mr. Sanchez," she strammered.
I stopped waiting as I felt tension in her voice and then looked at her, she slowly pointed to his shadow next to another.
She was shocked he could say that, she held her pistol as if she could shoot my twin shadow if he did something to harm her.
