Jolting upright, I glanced around. My heart beat out of my chest and my face was slick with tears. “It was just a dream…” I muttered, wiping the wetness from my cheeks and trying to calm my racing mind. It had been so long since that dream plagued me. So long since I had to relieve the night Deidra was taken from me. The morning sun rose over the treeline, filtering through the window with dust particles dancing within the rays. I wasn’t sure how long I had slept but it didn’t feel long enough.
