He saw the teachers on the campus ground, panicking while guiding their students to go back to their classrooms.
"Kids, go back to your classroom now! We will take care of it, please. Just go back inside your classrooms now," one of the male teachers said.
Zane approached his teacher, standing in the middle of the campus ground, crying and looking worried. "Teacher Dess, what happened?" he asked his adviser.
"Some strange man kidnapped Winsor!" His teacher panicked. Her hands were shaking while dialling her phone. "H-hello! Police station? One of my students was kidnapped! Please help us find my student, I'm begging you!" She completely forgot Zane beside her.
His teacher waited for the response of the person from the other line, and Zane could hear the person's voice. "Ma'am, please calm down. We need to know the details to assist you. What exactly happened and where did it happen? We will send police officers to your location."
Teacher Dess took a deep breath before speaking. "Some guy kidnapped my student just now. We are here at Pious University. Please, help us!"
"May I have your name first?" the man asked.
"Miss Destiny Holmes. Please, come here now."
"Okay, Miss Holmes, I just notified our patrol near your school, and they are on their way now."
"Thank you." Teacher Dess hung up. She looked at Zane and suddenly remembered her student. "You should go back to the classroom. It is not safe yet."
Zane nodded slowly before walking to their classroom. He still heard his teacher from behind, now talking to their principal. He remembers his principal's voice. She has a high-pitched tone with a thick accent.
"Mrs. Pascual, what shall we do?" his teacher asked.
"I already called Winsor's parents. They are on their way now. Have you called the police?" the principal responded.
She nodded. "Yes, Ma'am. They are on their way now."
The principal did a sign of the cross. "I hope they can find the kid. We will be in big trouble if something bad happens to him. He was kidnapped inside the campus."
Zane just shrugged his shoulders and went into the classroom.
"What a kid could do? Nothing but to watch adults solve this problem," he said to himself.
He sent a message to his father and informed him about the k********g incident. His father got so furious and called him.
"Hello, Dad."
"Prepare your things and I will pick you up. I don't trust that school anymore," his father said. "I can't risk your safety there. Your mother will get mad, too, once she hears this incident."
"But, Dad, our class is not over yet."
"Are they going to teach still after what happened? They should suspend your classes and be considerate!" His father is really mad.
He already raised his voice. It is rare for his father to do that. he just waited for his father to release his anger.
"I can't relax here while thinking of your safety there. I am on my way now. See you later, buddy." His father ended the call.
Zane just sighed. Parents are overreacting sometimes, but he cannot blame him. He is just protective over me.
Zane looked around the classroom. His classmates were all worried; some girls were even crying. He searched for Cullen and Edward who are the close friends of Winsor. They are both crying, too.
"I saw that huge man earlier!" one of his girl classmates said. "He asked me if I knew the kid on the phone. It was a shot from the zoo last time. I was shocked it was Winsor. I lied to him and told him I didn't know the kid. That huge man is suspicious."
"We were at the swing when that man appeared. He quickly came closer to us and grabbed Winsor. He placed him on his shoulder and then he left," Cullen said. "We tried to hurt the man to save him but that huge man was so strong. He just easily pushed us away."
"That's scary!"
Zane thought if he only let them follow him to the rooftop, Winsor would not be kidnapped. He just sighed and waited for his father to arrive.
The police arrived within thirty minutes. Zane went to the door and peeked outside the classroom. He saw his teacher and some students who witnessed the k********g, talking to four police officers. They also called Cullen and Edward to tell them the whole story.
His father arrived at school and went straight to his classroom. "Dad." He hugged his father. "My classmate was kidnapped."
"I am taking you out of the school. Let's go," his father said. He saw Teacher Dess approaching them. "Mister Cole? Are you picking up your child? It's still early."
"There was a k********g incident in your premises, yet you still want to continue teaching today? See the trauma this incident has caused the kids." He hugged Zane and pointed at the students inside the classroom. All the students look scared and worried. "Do you think they can still focus today? Also, my son is not safe here. He could be a victim of k********g one of these days."
Teacher Dess could not respond immediately, but she understood the situation of the kids. "We still need to wait for the directive of the school principal before allowing the students to go home."
"I am taking my kid now. You can't stop me. Let's go, Zane." He held Zane's arm and pulled him towards the parking area.
"Mister Cole!" Teacher Dess tried to stop him but Zane's father already made his decision.
A few more parents arrived and wanted to take their kids home. Some are even complaining to the principal.
He buckled up the seat belt. " saw it when the huge man took Winsor. He carried my classmate on his shoulder and took him inside the van, then they left."
"You saw it? Glad they did not take you, too!" He hugged his son.
"No, Dad, I was at the rooftop when the kidnapper took Winsor." He pointed to the rooftop.
"That was too far, son. How did you see it?" His father gave him a strange look.
"Uh... I just saw a man carrying a huge child on his shoulder. I know his body so well, Dad. He is my classmate." He scratched his head.
"I see. I left my job early because of what happened. We can go to the archery club early." His father started the car engine and drove out of the campus.
