Gabe
True to her word, Octavia treated me as if I was nothing. She stopped showing up for our exchanges with Raven, sending Kain to pick him up. She refused to answer my texts, missed meals if it included me and just, overall, pretended as if I didn’t exist. In her stead, she sent Kain, even going to the extent of having him reply to my Raven related text messages. It annoyed me just as much as her ignoring me.
I hadn’t expected her to be so upset when I told her the truth. It wasn’t my intention to hurt her, it really wasn’t. I just wanted her to understand why this marriage wouldn’t work. I needed this contract to be annulled.
If only I hadn't barged in there like a mad man. I should’ve been elated to hear them. But a murderous madness had completely taken over me. I wanted to tear the two of them apart. I didn’t want to show them any mercy. I sighed, now I’m starting to worry about how I’ll react when she actually does it.
This whole ordeal has been weighing down on me mentally and physically. I’ve had a non-stop headache that seems to get worse with every day that passes. My body aches like I’ve been run over and my chest has felt tight. I feel so smothered.
“Don’t you agree, Gabriel?” Daunte’s voice intruded my thoughts.
“Yeah, see what you can do.” We were in the middle of the plans for the full investigation of RedRush but I couldn’t pay attention.
“Let’s meet up in a few days.” Daunte said, ending the meeting.
I pushed my chair back, my vision blurred as I stood up. I tried to steady myself, the urge to faint was strong.
“Gabe, are you ok?” Daunte asked. He held my arm to help me keep my balance.
“I’ll go get Abel.” Caleb said, ready to take off.
“No!” I yelled. “No, I don’t want to worry him. Just take me back to my room. I need to lie down.”
Caleb pursed his lips with dismay but allowed Daunte to help me to my bedroom. I quickly settled into my bed, my raging headache was making me nauseous. “How long have you been feeling like this?”
“A week or two.” I mumbled.
“Have you had any blood?”
“No, I haven’t drunk much since…since I tasted Octavia’s.”
Daunte began to laugh uncontrollably. I felt like I was at death’s door and he was mocking me.
Caleb shook his head, “Mijo, you’re suffering from sanguis aegrotatio.”
“What the hell is that?” I wheezed.
Daunte continued to laugh with tears in his eyes. “Dude,” he hiccuped, “You’re going through withdrawals. You have love sickness.” He howled louder. What the hell was he talking about?
Caleb chuckled then explained, “Love sickness. This is what happens when you drink the blood of your pair. Your body seeks it and becomes dependent on it like a drug. The longer you go without your partner’s blood, the more you’ll experience symptoms of withdrawal.”
“How do I stop it?”
“You can go to her and get some blood.”
I let out a disapproving growl. “Something bad happens every time I see her.”
“You don’t really have a choice, mijo. The only way to permanently stop your body’s dependency is to complete the pairing process. If you’re not ready to take that step yet then you need to have constant blood intake. She’s definitely feeling the same pain. ”
I was light headed and woozy. If she was feeling the same then why didn’t she come to me? It’s been days! I remembered her face, contorted by my hurtful words. She’s in pain just like me, but her stubbornness was keeping her away. I don’t want to feel guilty! She said she would give me nothing. There was no way I was going to be the one that caved first.
Three days of excruciating pain. It was a relentless cycle of convulsions, sweating and vomiting. I was positive she would come to me but she didn’t. I couldn’t handle the pain any more.
“Atlas, please. We can’t keep going like this. We need her.”
“No.”
“Atlas. Look at us. We haven’t eaten or drank anything, we haven’t slept. We’ve been in bed for three days. Will you really let us die because of this?”
Atlas was quiet for a moment, “No biting.”
I sighed with relief, “Ok, no biting.”
“I’m serious Gabriel. I’ll kill her.”
“I promise, no biting.” I swore, pushing myself up. I slid off the bed, my knees too weak to hold me up. I crawled to the door and into the hall. I pulled myself up on the railings, gulping in air as I made my way down to Octavia’s room. I stood outside her doorway taking in deep breaths. I didn’t need the wall for support and I could stand firmly on my own. Her scent was already making me feel better.
My hand hesitated before knocking. The door to Raven’s room opened. Kain carried out Octavia. She was pale and clammy, shivering in his hold. “Give her to me.” I ordered him. Kain gave me a skeptical look. Clearly he was worried, I looked like sh*t. “I got her.”
“Yes sir.” he answered, placing her in my arms.
Octavia quickly latched onto me, inhaling my scent. Her shaking stopped as she clutched my shirt. “I got you.” I told her. She nodded weakly as I walked back to my room and shut the door. I gently placed her on my bed and grabbed her cold hands. “I promised there wouldn’t be any biting. Can you do that?”
Octavia nodded and removed her shirt then motioned for me to do the same. She placed a trembling hand on my chest, digging her nails in deep. She leaned in and licked my wound, a loud moan escaping her mouth. She licked her lips then made the same mark on her chest. My mouth watered, my control already slipping. She swiped her bloodied fingers across my lips, watching me as I licked them.
She ran her other hand through my hair and pulled me to her chest. The second my tongue touched her wound, my headache cleared. I sucked a little harder, letting her taste fill my mouth. She sighed dreamily, making another mark on my shoulder. Her warm mouth closed in on it, sending a shiver throughout my body.
The heaviness in my chest was lifted and I felt like I could breathe again. I pulled back to look at her. The previous weariness had disappeared from her face and she had her healthy glow back. Her eyes were turbulent, her soft lips parted. Even in this state, I wanted her. I leaned in to kiss her, she jerked her head back. She didn’t want me.
She searched my eyes, closing the gap between us. Our kiss was sensually slow. We removed the rest of our clothes without breaking our kiss. Her body turned hot beneath my touch. I settled her beneath me then started my slow tour down her body. Using my fangs I made small scratches on her breasts, torso and inner thighs, making sure to lick every last drop.
I finally guided myself into her welcoming sweetness and was met with an eager thrust. It felt as if I had just entered heaven. Both of us took in our fill, enjoying each other's bodies for the rest of the night.
