Chapter 2- The Sleepover

1719 Words
(Aubrey) Clock struck at 2 in the morning, people are starting to get drunk and some are on their way to their homes. Some of their close friends and relatives checked-in to nearby hotels just because of her birthday party, they flew from different countries across borders by their private planes and landing ports. Zy's family and relatives are all working in medical field but majority of them operates their businesses abroad and they only go back here if it's necessary or there were occasions like this to attend to. If you looked at them, you would see how close they were to each other but deep down and between those closeness of interactions, it's just all part of their business tactics, each word they said always do have some underlying meanings or other definitions that if you don't received it well, you'll be deceive for the rest of your lives.  Maybe some people would ask, how can I say things like these when I don't know them in the first place. I haven't seen how their usual lifestyles and routines- Zy and the others are different to them, very different that you won't guess that they came from rich families. But of course, you would still see that fact when you observed their actions and material things- they all looked expensive.  "Hey! Can you please poop faster?!" Cheen shouted from the door while Camilla is still in the comfort room. We're currently here at Zy's wing, the part of their mansion where Zy do have her own space, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, louge area and even entertainment room. If one can observe, she don't have a dining hall as her family do have their motto that they should eat together always- good thing for a family.  "Shut up! I can't force it right away!" Camilla yelled back. Zy and I just laughs on how dumb their conversation is, we're the one tasked to prepare the celebration we are having by our own selves. We decided to throw Zy a separate party without pretending and with eating fulfilling foods.  "That girl, I can't understand her." Cheen said upon sitting beside us.  We already put the food above the long table, we had our karaoke machine on and of course the disco lights. We only have to wait for Camilla before the official celebration would start. We're silently sitting while waiting for her, I looked at the food and it looks somewhat cold to me.  "Should I microwave it again?" I asked and they looked at the foods we prepared.  "Should we?" Zy asked and I just nods. Cheen just let out a deep sigh and start putting the foods in the microwave one by one.  "Whew! That was tough!" Camilla exclaimed as soon as she get out of the comfort room. We just looked at her and she looks very happy and relieved by that call of nature she had.  "Can I beat her up?" Cheen asked us and Zy nods aggressively.  "Wait! Wait! What are you doing?" Camilla yelled when Cheen and Zy began to approach her slowly. I just chuckled on how they looked crazy and childish to me.  "Girls, have a seat. The foods are now ready, for the final time." I said and they became soft all of a sudden. Looks like cats that were tamed and quickly followed my words.  "That looks so delicious." Camilla mumbled and after I put the huge tub of lasagna, they immediately got their own plates and start scooping the buffet style celebration we're having.  The food from the main party are all organic, the foods that was prepared by highest paid chefs from Cheen's restaurant and under the command of Zy's parents, they don't want to serve foods from the usual celebrations, so there's no pasta, no chicken and even sweet desserts like cake and ice cream. So, for our own party, we bought party platters of lasagna, chicken wings, spring rolls and other foods we love.  "I heard a while ago that you're going to study medical?" Camilla asked to Zy who's now devouring the wings.  "Yeah, they already enrolled me to that medical school in front of the hospital." she answered.  "Did you already agreed to that?" I asked to her.  "Duh, did you think they asked me about that?" she said and rolled her eyes.  "Really? what about your ballet?" Cheen asked.  "They said I should just pursue it as my hobby, not my main job." she answered.  "What about you?" she asked to me.  "Me? of course I would pursue my fashion designing." I answered.  "Good for you." she just mumbled.  "No, it's not. I already told you about that guy they wanted me to marry, right? Looks like his family owns the famous brand in Paris." I explained and they looked at me.  "Then, what did you say?" Cheen asked and looked at me very curious.  "Of course I said I won't marry him." I proudly answered and they began to have their own conversation. They made a circle and start whispering to each other.  "What are you doing?" I asked in confused.  "Don't disturb us, we're having the most important talk in our lives." Cheen cut me off and continue what they are doing. After some minutes, they came back facing the table and silently eating for now.  "So, what did you talked about?" I asked like I do not care any of it.  "We decided to persuade you." Camilla exclaimed and she got light push from the two.  "We said it's a secret." Zy said to Camilla and she just covered her mouth in shocked, I know they're crazy.  "But why did you have to persuade me?" I asked them.  "We thought that you should try dating him. I mean you don't have to marry him in one go." Cheen explained. I got her point, but what's the use of all that? "Yeah, you should meet him first, you don't know the fate, though." Zy said to me.  Well, they're also right about it. It's not like they already registered our marriage, we can still move slowly and have our fate decide what would our finish line look like. I'm not against marriage, of course people who were once strangers to each other were magically brought by a sudden encounter, the turning point of their lives- but why people do have to plan it beforehand? Why do they to mandate the things that are uncertain if it will happen or not? I just can't understand people like that.  "Can you open the roof? I do want to stargaze." Camilla said and Zy reached out for the small remote standing on the side table and press it down. The roof began to move and open, giving chance for the sky to be our roof for tonight.  "It's cold, why do you have to do it?" Cheen exclaimed.  "Don't worry, we can just have the transparent one." Zy said and changed the mode again.  We moved the table away and start laying the mattresses and the comforter on the floor, we decided to sleep in this way as I suggested to them, and guess what, they were amused by it, they don't understand why people are sleeping on the floor when there are beds to buy and use.  "This is so amazing! It feels comfortable and new experience." Cheen said and starting to wriggling inside the thick blanket.  "You're right! How could I not know this lifehack." Camilla said and lied in the middle of us.  "This is not a lifehack, this is real life." I just mumbled to myself and Zy just looked at us while still standing.  "Come on! You have to try it!" Camilla shouted and Zy acted that she will jump and dive towards us, well I guess it's not an act, she actually did that and thankfully, Camilla is the victim.  "Tomorrow is really back to reality, huh?" Zy said and cuddled me.  "No, it's just a normal day." I said and they just let out a deep sigh. "Sometimes, I envied your life, Aubrey." Cheen seriously said to me, thing that you can see once in a blue moon.  "What are you saying? My life is not special as yours." I jokingly answered.  "That's the problem, being special is stressful." she answered and I looked by her side, her eyes are closed while saying those words.  "No, you just don't know the life of being nothing." I mumbled to myself. I realized that they are now sleeping soundly. Looks like today seems very a tiring day for them, especially the birthday celebrant. I can't sleep, I stood up and began my little tour around this place. This is my first time going in here compared to the two who were already Zy's friend since they were infants. We always meet at Camilla's place, the one being considered as the public place when we were kids. Camilla is a very bubbly and friendly kid, she always treat her friends, and invite them over to their house. Well, I can see where she inherited that personality as her mother is also the same as her, she loved inviting people to their house and serve pastries to them. They are the giver in this estate we are living, while Zy's family is the prestigious one. You can't enter their premises without formal occasions or proper invitation from her parents, that's right- Zy cannot invite her friends over. Meanwhile, Cheen's family is not in their house all the time- Cheen grew up together with her nannies and drivers, her parents always travel in search for new places to build their hotels and resorts, that's why you can say that she's a spoiled brat.  "Can't sleep?" I did not notice her presence beside me, and the fact that my feet brought me towards the veranda. "Just letting myself digest more." I plainly answered and she just chuckles.  "Aubrey, what should I do?" she asked and I looked to her.  "Is there something wrong, Zyrie?" I asked  "I saw something that I shouldn't be." she answered and she leaned at the grills and looked up in the sky.  "What do you mean?"  "I saw my parents' divorce papers." she answered and smiled bitterly.  ---
