Come Back Home

Blaze    Her beautiful body was something to admire, and as I walked back to the living room, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I sat on the couch and took my shoes off, not knowing how at my height, I could fit in that small piece of furniture. What a strange world, I thought.    I tried to get comfortable, but it was in vain, so I decided to stay awake, and wait for Idalia to finish getting ready for whatever she had to get ready for. A few minutes later, she walked out and I could see her hair up in a high ponytail with her face painted with some colors.     “Are you going out?” I asked.    “Yes, I am. Have to go to work, otherwise I won’t be able to pay my bills and my rent,” she replied, taking something metallic from a plate and as she was about to walk out, I stood up from the couch and put my shoes right away, following her.    “You don’t have to go with me, you know?” She stated    “Of course I do. I have to protect you,” I replied, reassuring her.     She scoffed and put some sort of fabric around her neck and a cover on her body before she headed out, and I followed her. Idalia walked a good distance before she arrived at a building with glass on the front.    She opened a door and I walked right after her, seeing a lot of people around standing in line and sitting on chairs, sipping on drinks.     “Morning, Lydia. Sorry I’m late, had a little inconvenience,” Idalia greeted a lady on the other side of the place, making me growl.    Inconvenience? The only inconvenience here is how delayed our departure from this world is becoming. I am annoyed and frustrated.    “No worries, the customers had just started to line up, so you might want to put the apron on and get to it,” the lady responded. I sat on one of the chairs and waited for Idalia to finish with whatever she was doing. All this is so different.    “Who is that hunk of a man you came in with?” I heard the lady say. They could have been whispering, but my hearing was amazingly sharp.     “He is Blaze, just someone I know. Not important.”     I turned around and gave her a look at the same time she looked back at me, knowing I had heard them. She rolled her eyes at me and kept on working. I sat there, looking out at the city, and I couldn’t help but realize why the whole kingdom hated humans.     They reeked and they were obnoxious.     An hour later, Idalia came over with a goblet, and a brown liquid inside.    “What is that?” I asked curiously.    “Coffee, and this is a mug, just in case you are wondering what kind of goblet is that. We are not back in…” she looked around and leaned down to be closer to my face, letting me smell her lovely rose scent mixed up with that “coffee” as she whispered the last word, “Gargolian or the cave where you live.”    “Well, we have to go back, love. We all need you,” I whispered back, making a statement.    “You don’t need me. Find another mate or if you don’t find one, fall in love with one. I am sure there are a lot of pretty dragon ladies in the mountains.”    “Guess what? I have been searching for her since I turned eighteen, and also guess what? Your own parents told me where you were, so I decided to come and find my mate, which is you and there is nothing you can do to change that.” I stated again to make her see the point.    “We’ll see about that,” she said with confidence before she headed back. A lot of hours passed and I was still sitting there, looking at people come and go and hearing Idalia and her friend talk about me, as if I wasn’t here.     There were so many things I found out about Idalia. How long has she been with her boyfriend, and even plans of going out to a party with her few friends, I didn’t know how to feel about it.    “Are you ready to go?” she asked, standing next to me with her bag on her shoulder.     I stood from the chair, trying to stretch my aching body and cracking my bones. What an uncomfortable way to wait for her. She walked out with me behind as her friend waved goodbye to us.     Walking back to the apartment, Idalia stopped at another building.     “Wait here. Don’t follow me inside.” she stated.    I did as told, but couldn’t help it and looked inside, seeing her approach a man with blonde hair and green eyes, covered by eyeglasses and his clothes looked a bit pedestrian.    Was that her boyfriend? My suspicions were confirmed when she kissed him on his lips, making me growl in jealousy and anger at the same time. We had to go back home and here she was, wasting time with that man.    I leaned against a wall and waited for her, as I put my hands inside my pockets. Ladies were passing by and they would throw looks at me, smiling flirtatiously.     I waited long enough, and I walked inside, seeing her sitting at a stool and still chatting with him while I waited outside for her. How dare she?   ‘Don’t approach us if you don’t want Idalia to be upset at you,’ I heard her gargoyle talk to me, and I could see her suddenly tense and look back at me.     “Oh, great,” she groaned as she looked back at that man, “I am sorry baby, but I have to go. My cousin is visiting and he wants a tour, because he couldn’t wait a little longer,” she said with an annoyed voice.    She kissed him one more time, and pulled me roughly by the arm. As soon as we were out, she dragged me through an alley and pushed me against the wall. Her eyes glowed and I could feel her gargoyle wanting to come out.    “What the hell do you think you are doing?” she asked, fuming. Almost in a growl. There she was.    “I have been successfully keeping Thora inside and since you came here, she can’t stop making me miserable,” she stated, flustered.    “That is not my fault. She wants me,” I said as a statement, but my words surely came out in a cocky tone and she had to accept her reality. Hiding in this world was not helping her.     “Then what do you want me to do?” she asked exasperated, pushing me harder.    “Come back home,”  I stated, the words coming from deep down in my heart.
