[Stella’s POV]
As time finally reached the point where Armaros would usually show up, I was done getting myself ready.
I was looking one last time in the mirror, checking out how the dress that Armaros had gotten delivered to me was fitting.
I just wanted to make sure everything was as it should be. It was an all-white dress, there was hugging my body perfectly.
It ended just above the knee, and though it was open above the neck, he had been sweet enough to choose one which wasn’t too revealing this time.
I had no idea how he was doing it, but he somehow knew what kind of clothes that would fit me – or at least dresses.
I had let my hair hang loose, as I had twisted the front of my hair and put it to the sides with hair pins.
On top of that, he had also got me som matching sandals with a small tip of my heel.
“Okay, he is just taking you out, nothing more.. It’s not like this is a date or anything..” I tried talking myself down.
I was getting nervous, but at the same time excited, but I had to remember not to let myself get too riled up about it.
Then I heard the door open, and I was expecting Armaros to be the one to step into the room, but instead it was Shax, and for some reason I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by that.
“Armaros told me to apologize for not being able to make it back..” He stated, as I felt my heart sink. I already had a feeling it would be too good to be true anyway.
Why did I even put myself up for failure? I was thinking to myself, as my eyes moved to the floor.
“.. But he was hoping you would let me drive you, and then he would meet you there?” Shax added, as he had a hopeful expression when my eyes moved back to him.
“Oh, I thought he was going to cancel.” I replied, surprised, as a smile spread across his lips.
“No cupcakes, I think that is the last thing he ever would want to do.” Shax chuckled, as I smiled.
“Well, then how would I ever be able to refuse such a nice offer?” I retorted, while a small giggle left my lips, before I surely followed him out the door.
When we came to the first floor, we walked past Morax, Dagon, Amon, Corson and Baal, and as we did their eyes followed us – or more precisely me – like they seemed to be in a state of shock.
Morax almost dropped the cigarette sitting in the corner of his mouth. I felt very self-cautious. Luckily, no one said anything, but their stares were enough to make me uncomfortable.
“Hey, are you okay?” Shax asked as we stood beside the car.
“Yeah, I.. I’m fine, just a little nervous, that’s all.” I tried to dismiss him, as I quickly jumped in to the car, as Shax followed behind, and looked at me.
“You know Armaros won’t let anyone hurt you, right? And neither do I.” He spoke, as he gave me a reassuring smile, which I returned.
“Right.. Thanks Shax.” I replied.
“Always cupcakes!” He chimed, before he began to drive.
As we arrived downtown, I saw
Armaros was standing beside the road, as he proceeded to open the door for me, and held his hand out for me to take, as he helped me out of the car.
“You look breathtaking, Stella.” Armaros stated, as he kissed my hand, making me blush.
“Thank you very much.” I spoke shyly, as I looked around in awe, and I saw we were standing outside a restaurant.
“I’m truly sorry that I kept you waiting, but I had some business that couldn’t wait.” He spoke as he placed his other hand on top of mine.
“That’s quite alright, I know you are a busy man..” I trailed off, as a smile creeped on his lips.
“Never too busy for you.. Come! I’ll show you the way.” He said as he led me towards the entrance.
By the bar, there stood a waiter, who immediately turned his attention to us, as we walked closer.
“Welcome, how can I be at your service, this beautiful evening?” He replied, with a bright smile.
“I have reserved a table for two, under the name Armaros Mortem,” he retorted, as the man nodded.
“Of course, Mr. Mortem, this way! We have set everything ready for you and the beautiful lady.” He beamed, as he waved his arms in the right direction, as I felt Armaros tense for a moment, but I didn’t think much more of it.
As we arrived at the table, Armaros proceeded to pull the chair out for me, as I sat down, and he placed himself across from me.
“Here you have your menu. I will be back in a few moments to take you and your lovely date’s orders.” He spoke with a small bow, before he walked away.
I forced a smile before he walked away. But as always, Armaros saw right through it.
“Is there something wrong?” Armaros asked, as I believed he was referring to my sudden nervousness.
“Is this.. A date?” I asked hesitantly, as his features went from this serious expression, to a bright smile.
“Is that what worries your mind?” He asked, as he grabbed my hand. I chewed on my lips as I gave a small nod with my head.
“Well, I would like to know more about you, so you could call it that..” he added with a grin.
“Like what?” I asked hesitantly, as he seemed to be thinking about it.
“Like.. What is your favorite color?” He asked, as his answer made me giggle.
“Oh, that’s too easy, red, of course! What about you?” I stated, as a knowing smile suddenly spread on his lips.
“Well.. I haven’t really decided yet.. I like both green and blue,” he spoke as he winked at me.
“What about food?” He continued asking.
“Pancakes! I could eat them all day.. Uhh! But definitely cupcakes too, if they could count as food.” I replied, maybe a little too eagerly.
“Oh, I’m sure you could.” He grinned, and I surly began to feel a lot more comfortable in his company.
I was letting him take control of the conversation because I knew I probably would end up asking about something too personal to him.
I couldn’t ask about his family or his job, and I wasn’t even sure I wanted to know what kind of work he was doing.
As we had placed our orders, it didn’t take long before our food arrived. We started to eat as we just small-talked, but then he asked me a specific question, which took me by surprise.
“Okay, if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?” He then asked, as my smile immediately dropped, and I looked down at the plate, not saying anything.
He immediately realized his mistake, as he placed his hand on mine.
“I’m sorry, that was a stupid question, I don’t know why I asked that..” Armaros replied, shaking his head. He probably knew that it was a pretty sensitive topic to choose.
“No, it’s okay, I.. For years, I wanted to get as far away from my father’s overprotective parenting because he never let me do anything or go anywhere without supervision, so sometimes I felt like a prisoner in my own home..” I explained, with a slight shrug, as I started to bite the inside of my cheek.
“So, nothing has really changed, huh?” He stated, as I shrugged while I was picking at my food, thinking about how our conversation had gone from quite amusing to rather awkward.
Then the waiter came back over to our table as he placed a glass in front of me.
“A drink for the beautiful lady!” He stated with a wink, making me smile, but as I turned to look at Armaros, he looked as if he wanted to kill the man, just for being nice, and that was the last thing I wanted to happen.
“Maybe we should just leave, it’s already getting late, so..”
“No!” Armaros growled, as he quickly got up from his seat and grabbed hold of the poor man, who stared at him with fear coloring his whole face.
“I would suggest you keep your small remarks and your eyes to yourself, or I’ll personally make you dig your own grave.” He hissed at him. Even his glare scared me, as I hadn't expected him to act like that in public.
“I.. I’m sorry, Sir, I didn’t mean to offend you.” The frightened man stammered, as he tried getting out of Armaros' grasp.
“Well, you did! So get lost and find us another waiter!” Armaros snapped, as he let go of him while he gave him a hard puff, making the waiter quickly run off as soon as Armaros let go of him.
People around us weren’t looking our way, but I knew that they knew, and the only reason why they didn’t stare, was because they probably feared his wrath if they did.
Then Armaros sat back down, like nothing had happened.
“Why did you do that? He was just being friendly.” I asked, as Armaros looked at me with narrowed eyes.
“You don’t know men, Stella, and he clearly had more than just friendly things on his mind..” he scoffed, as he clearly was irritated.
“Why does it matter what he thinks?” I argued.
“Because you belong to me and I don’t want any other men to look at you!” He growled, as he banged his fisted hand down the table.
“Then I hope it was worth it.. Can we please just go now, I think I’ve lost my appetite.” I mumbled, as I pushed my half-eaten food aside, and crossed my arms.
I believed he was probably furious at this point because I could almost feel how his stare was burning in to the side of my head, when I wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“If that is what you prefer,” he stated coldly.
He then snapped his fingers as he asked for the receipt, and as soon as he had paid, he rose from his seat, walked over to me, and pulled me out of mine, as he headed towards the door with long strides.
Great, back to the selfish jerk attitude!
The drive back was awkwardly silent, as I had turned myself towards the window, on the other side from him, and none of us spoke a single word.
As we arrived back at the house, he stepped out of the car as he once again opened my door, but he didn’t wait for me to take his hand.
Instead, he just, like when we left the restaurant, took hold of me and pulled me with him, making me almost stumble over my own feet.
“Slow down!” I exclaimed, but he still didn’t speak a single word, he just continued to pull me up the stairs, until we reached the room.
He then let go of me as he was facing the door after he had closed it, leaving me with his back. I wasn’t doubting he was angry, but so was I..
“If you are expecting me to apologize, you can forget it!” I snapped at him, as I turned my back to him.
“I took you out, and this is how you repay me!” Armaros growled, making me roll my eyes. He was acting like I should be thankful or something, he was the one keeping me locked up in the first place.
“Why do you have to be so selfish? You don’t even consider my feelings!” I hissed at him.
But then he suddenly grabbed hold of me, and pulled me close with such force that I collided with his firm chest, making me look at him stunned.
“You want me to say it? Yes, I’m fücking selfish! I want no other man to look at you, to touch you, or kiss you, and I want to kill every man who tries to!” He stated angrily, as his eyes burned with so much anger and passion, that I felt my pulse rise, and a sudden burning sensation spread inside of me.
I was unable to decipher its location, as I without thinking about it, licked my lips, and his eyes immediately were fixed on them.
“I want you to understand that I’m the only man who can have you.” He spoke in a husky voice, as his grip loosened and his one hand moved down to my waist and the other one he placed at the back of my head, as he pulled me in for a kiss, that made me almost forget why I was angry.
[..]
They both were lost in the kiss, but then Stella suddenly pushed Armaros away, which surprised him.
“No! You still can’t just threaten to kill people for looking at me.” She spoke, as she was able to focus again.
“I just can’t accept it.” Stella spoke as she hugged herself and looked away.
“I don’t know what you expect from me, Stella, but this is who I am.” Armaros stated coldly. She looked at him with sorrow in her eyes, as she walked closer to him.
“No.. This is who your father wanted you to be, you are more than this.. Why can’t you see that?” She asked, as she looked at him, he just stared at her, not able to reply.
How was she able to see something in him, he wasn’t even able to see himself? But he also knew that he felt like a different man when he was with her, and he did care about what she thought of him.
When he didn’t say anything, she shook her head before she turned away from him.
He walked over and put his arms around her, and placed his head on her shoulder, as a deep sigh left his lips.
“Maybe I was a little out of line.. If I asked you out on another date, would you give me a chance to make it up to you?” He asked, as she turned around.
She stared at him for some time, as if she was considering it.
