Chapter 21 Blame

“Nathan! Did you hear that Stella is back?!” Jaze called out as Nathan moved his head towards the door, as he had been talking to some of his friends.

“Are you serious? Did they really find her!” He blurred out, as he stepped over to Jaze, while Jaze nodded, but he seemed worried.

“But your father, Hunter and Kyle told Chase that they were attacked when they brought her back.. They seem to be fine, but Stella was hurt pretty badly,” Jaze replied. More Jaze didn’t get to say before Nathan ran to Cathrine and Chase’s house, but he was stopped at the door by Charlie.

“Take it easy, Nathan!” He spoke as he placed a hand on Nathan’s shoulder.

“I need to see Stella. Is she alright? I heard what happened..” Nathan asked, as Charlie sighed.

“It’s too early to say.. She was hurt badly as she arrived, and she hasn’t woken up yet, so no one really knows for sure.. Right now, they just need some time for themselves, but you can try again later.” Charlie explained, as Nathan nodded, as he started to walk back a little disappointed. When he found his way back, he saw Kyle and Hunter standing near the forrest talking. They looked stressed out, as well as they were looking pretty beaten up, both of them.

“Hey Hunter, hey Kyle!” Nathan called out, as he walked over there, as they turned to him.

“Hey kid, what’s up?” Hunter spoke up, as Kyle just nodded shortly with his head.

“I heard you were attacked. What exactly happened?” He asked as Kyle and Hunter looked at each other, before Hunter turned back to him.

“You should not worry about that, it was just some demons, that’s all.. But could you, maybe, do me a favor?” Hunter asked.

“Sure, what do you need?” He replied, as Hunter smiled.

“Can you take me to see Stella? I wanna check how she’s doing.” Hunter explained, as Nathan shrugged.

“I unfortunately wasn’t allowed in there. Charlie said I should try again later.. I just hope she will be fine.. All he told me was, that she still hadn’t woken up..” Nathan explained, as they both nodded.

“Well, maybe you can find me when you do?” Hunter asked again, as Nathan nodded.

“Sure..” he replied, a little confused by his sudden eagerness to see Stella, but he had been there when it all went down, so Nathan believed that he might just worry about her.

“Great, I’ll go get something to eat, but I’ll see you later, kay?” He spoke as he gave Nathan a pat on the back, before walking towards the pack house.

Nathan proceeded to head over to Kyan and Jaze, who were already together with Bella, Lior, and Vicca. Vicca was sitting close to Kyan, as she and Kyan had already got together. Kyan finally pulled himself together and told Vicca the truth, and it showed out that Vicca had been secretly crushing on him too, so the relationship between them quickly evolved from there.

“Hi guys!” Nathan called out as all of them greeted him.

“So.. What did they say?” Kyan asked.

“Not much really. They wouldn’t let me see her, so I guess I have to wait.” He replied, as he sat down with them.

“Yeah, I know, I asked my dad too, but he gave me the same answer, that they need time.. The only thing I got was, that they don’t know when or if she is going to wake up..” Bella spoke, as her face turned sad.

“But at least they got that demon.. Armaros, he is to blame for this, he will need to take the consequences.” Kyan stated, as he sounded furious about it, which Vicca reacted to by leaning closer to him.

“But.. Do you really believe he did it?” Bella asked, as Kyan and Nathan frowned.

“Of course, he’s a demon. Why would you even ask that?” Nathan replied.

“I don’t know, he just didn’t seem like he wanted to hurt her, that’s all..” Bella continued as she shrugged lightly.

“Don’t let yourself get fooled, Bells.. They might look innocent on the outside and act all nice, but in the end they are what they appear to be.. Demons!” Nathan spoke seriously, as she sighed.

“Right, if you say so..” Bella mumbled, as she turned to look at Lior.

“What about you? What do you think happened, Lior?” Bella asked as everyone turned to him. He was the only one who didn’t seem to have an opinion about the topic, and everyone soon stared at him with anticipation.

“I’m not taking any sides..” Lior stated, as Nathan knitted his eyebrows.

“What is that supposed to mean? My father already told you what happened – you know that!” Nathan spoke accusingly, as Lior leaned back.

“I just want to hear it from Stella though it seems pretty obvious what happened, I believe everyone should at least have the right to have a fair trial.. You know.. Innocent ‘til proven guilty.” He explained.

“So, both you and Bella are doubting what my father says - some friends you are!” Nathan growled before he got up and started to walk away.

“Come on, Nathan! It’s not meant like that, and you know it.” Jaze tried to excuse, as he raised from his seat.

“Then how is it, huh?” He growled, as he turned back around.

“I think they meant that.. Uh.. You know Uhm.. Guys some help?” Jaze spoke as he turned to the others.

“Exactly - screw you!” Nathan spat as he walked away.

Everyone stopped talking and turned to the door, as it flew open. They stared in astonishment, as Cathrine stormed in to Chase’s office, clearly upset.

“You tortured our daughter!” Cathrine yelled at Carl, as soon as she had stepped through the door.

“What’s going on, Cathy? What happened?” Chase asked while he walked over to her, as he was still confused by the whole situation. But she put her hand up as she was still staring at Carl with pure hatred.

“I was by Stella’s side, when I suddenly saw all her memories, and it showed me that Kyle, Hunter and this piece of shít were keeping her hostage, as he beat, and cut her several times!” She revealed, pointing an accusing finger at him, as everyone gasped in shock.

“You must be confused, that’s not.. It wasn’t like that..” He tried to excuse nervously, but he probably knew it was futile because then he suddenly decided to flee, but Cathrine wasn’t going to let him get away with it, so she threw a light rope at him, and he fell flat on his face, as he groaned.

“Why the hell would you do something like that? You were our friend and have been there since before she was born - she and Nathan have been best friends since they were small!” Chase yelled, as anger colored his features.

“She was defending that fücking demon - that’s why! She is putting everyone at this place in great danger, including my son - all because she believes he loves her!” He yelled as he was fighting to get free.

“Love is not a crime! Maybe it’s us who have been too narrow-minded to see that it’s possible that, not, all demons are bad.” Cathrine stated, as she looked at Chase, with a pleading eye.

“Maybe.. Drake, Peter, get him out of my sight before I kill him myself..” Chase stated as Drake and Peter picked Carl up from the floor and began pulling him out of the office.

“You are making a mistake! Your blindness will be the death of us - she is going to get everyone killed. Why can’t you see that!” Carl yelled, before he finally was out of sight.. And hearing range. “Finally, some silence.. Does anyone know where Kyle and Hunter are?” Chase asked, as everyone looked around and shook their heads.

“I need someone to find out where they are immediately,” Chase demanded.

On his way home, Nathan passed Stella’s house, where he saw Hunter, who was walking towards it, as he laid eyes he greeted him.

“Hey, what’s up? You’re here. I wasn’t certain if you still were up for this, so I just went to check up on her myself.” Hunter spoke as he gave him a tap on the shoulder, as he came closer.

“Well, I was actually just passing by, but I do wanna go..” Nathan replied. He hoped that he could think of something else, then his conversation with the others.

But as they walked to the front door of the house, it was completely empty.

“That’s weird.. No one is here right now.. Maybe we should wait then..” Nathan stated, as he paused.

“They are probably all just gone to the meeting Chase called for earlier, let’s just go in.” Hunter stated, as Nathan tried to stop worrying, he was sure that Hunter was right.

As soon as they stepped into Stella’s room, Nathan walked over next to her side. She didn’t look hurt, instead she just seemed like she was sleeping.

It was clear Dr. Canis had been there too, as they had her hooked to some monitor which was monitoring her heartbeat, probably making sure she was alright.

“Wow, she healed pretty fast.” Hunter then stated, almost as if he were impressed by it, as he walked over to the other side of the bed, as he looked at her. For just a brief moment, Hunter’s eyes seemed to shift, which immediately stirred something in Nathan, as he observed Hunter.

“Could you give me a moment alone?” Hunter suddenly asked, as his eyes turned to Nathan, only making the feeling in his stomach worse.

“I don’t think so..” Nathan spoke, as he kept observing Hunter, who stared back at him, as a smile came across his lips.

“What? Don’t you trust me?” Hunter asked, as Nathan just stood there, not sure what to say.

“I do.. But I’m just not sure if it’ll be such a good idea,” he replied, as he suddenly became unsure. Normally, he had never doubted Hunter’s intentions - maybe it was just everything the others said that had put all this doubt in his mind.

But before he was able to make a decision, Vlad was already standing beside Hunter, as he grabbed the collar of his shirt, and pushed his against the wall as he glared at him.

“Touch her and you’re dead!” Vlad growled at him, as Hunter flinched.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about, I wasn’t planning to..” Hunter stammered, as he tried to take a step away, but he couldn’t move.

“Oh, I’m doubting that.. And you know exactly what I’m talking about.” Vlad spoke, as he stared Hunter dead in the eye.

Only a few moments later, two other men came in.

“Take him to the dungeon now! I’ll find Kyle.” Vlad spoke, as he shortly looked at Nathan.

“You should go home, Nathan,” Vlad requested in a harsh tone, before he disappeared, while the two others were pulling Hunter out of the room.

“What the hell is this supposed to look like!” Hunter growled, as he fought to get free, as they pulled him out of there.

“You know exactly what this is about, you, Carl and Kyle are being arrested for k********g, physically assaulting the Alpha’s daughter, as well as you’ll get an extra for attempted r**e!” One of them growled, making Hunter’s eyes widen as he looked at Nathan, who looked just as shocked.

“No, wait, you can’t believe what they are saying, Nathan - This is all just a big misunderstanding!” Hunter called out, before he was pulled out of the room.

“Charlie! Please get the demon out of the dungeon, I wanna speak to him.” He then added with a sigh, as Charlie nodded and then headed out of the office too.

When Charlie returned with Armaros, Chase let his eyes wander over everyone, while Armaros looked like he wasn’t sure what he was doing there.

“I would like to talk to him alone.” Chase stated, as Armaros was standing in the middle of the room, and the handcuffs were shortly after removed. Then everyone proceeded to leave the room, and first, when the last person had left the room, Chase spoke up.

“You were imprisoned on a false statement, which, of course, is unfortunate,” Chase began.

“.. But you still kept my daughter hostage against her will, threatened to kill members of this tribe, and that I can’t just forgive you for.” Chase stated, as Armaros nodded.

“I know.. I didn’t expect you to.. But I do truly care about your daughter,” Armaros revealed.

“Yes.. I know, and I also know she clearly cares about you.. And that is the only reason I’ll let you leave this place a free man!” Chase stated.

“What about those who hurt Stella?” Armaros asked, as Chase observed him.

“They are already being put away as we speak, but you don’t have to focus on that.. You can go back to wherever you came from.. I don’t wanna see you here or near my daughter ever again, or you will not live to regret it - am I making myself clear?” Chase spoke loud and clear, to make sure he understood.

Armaros looked at the floor for a moment, but when he returned his gaze to Chase, a smile came across his lips, which only left Chase rather annoyed.

“Why are you smiling like a fool?” He growled, as Armaros just shook his head.

“Do you really think I care about my freedom, or my life? All I care about is Stella.. Because I love her!” He stated.

“And right now, you have someone here, who hurt the one person I truly care about, and I don’t care who they're wants to stop me - I’m going to destroy them!” He growled as he narrowed his eyes.

“I’ve already made sure they will get a punishment for their actions!” - “Hah! Do you really think that is enough? I don’t care if I’ll end up rotting in a cell for the rest of my life, I want to make those bastards suffer until they beg me to end their pathetic lives!” Armaros cut in, with no trace of doubt in his voice - he meant every word.
