Chapter 63 What Are You Hiding? Part 2

3557 Words
[continued from last Chapter] “Jaze, listen..” Bella started, but then the door opened and Stella and Kyan came in. “We are here now. What did you.. Is that the vampire!?” Kyan started as he realized who was lying on the bed. “Finally, Stella, you have to heal her!” Jaze spoke, as Kyan frowned. “Have you lost your fücking mind? She tried to kidnap her, and now you want Stella to save her life!?” Kyan asked in disbelief. “I know, but you didn’t see what I saw, that guy she was here with, he just left her there to die, he didn’t care, and all I saw was a scared girl out there in the woods. I’m not going to have her death on my conscience, so I’m asking you to please save her life, Stella,” Jaze defended, as he turned to Stella. “You’re right, she deserves a second chance,” Stella replied, as she stepped forward, and grabbed a small knife and was about to cut her wrist, but then Vlad showed up and grabbed her arm. “What the hell are you doing?” He scolded. “I’m saving this girl’s life,” she replied with no waiver. “HELL NO! She doesn’t deserve our help after what she did!” He growled. “I think that is my decision to make uncle Vlad, now please let go.” She spoke, as they kept staring at each other, but Stella was not gonna give in. “God, you're stubborn like your mother!” Vlad hissed as he let go. “You can help her, but Dr. Canis will do the blood transfusion. You shouldn’t be cutting yourself,” he stated, as he grabbed the knife from her hand. “Fine, then hurry,” she said as she sat down. Dr. Canis quickly found a syringe and took some of her blood and shot it right into Persephone’s wound, which immediately started to show signs of healing. Her heart rate and body temperature dropped to a normal level, and her breathing calmed down. “Now we just have to wait ‘til she wakes up,” Dr. Canis replied, as Vlad walked to the bed and cuffed both Persephone’s hand to the bedside. “Why did you do that?” Stella asked him, as he turned to her. “I’m not trusting her, she will have to answer for her crimes when she wakes up,” he stated before he walked out of the room, as Stella followed him. Jaze stood there for a moment, before Kyan called for him. “Jaze, can you get out here for a moment?” Jaze looked at Persephone once more before he walked out of there and closed the door behind him, where he saw Chase, standing with the others. “You asked my daughter to save one of the people that came here attempting to kidnap her. I wanna know why? Chase asked. “Dad, it was my choice,” Stella defended, but he just shook his head. “I’m not asking you, I wanna hear Jaze’s reasons for asking you to do such a thing!” He spoke, as he stared at him with a sharp look. “I just didn’t believe she deserved to die for making a mistake, she is just a girl..” he defended, when Vlad cut in. “No! She’s a vampire, and she’s working with one of the worst I know. Do you know he threatened to hurt my family?” Vlad growled. “I’m sorry, but he left her to die too, and why don’t you think it’s possible for her to change when you did?” Jaze spoke. “You gotta be careful kid, just remember, if anyone gets hurt or dies because of that girl in there, you will be responsible for it, are you really up for that?” Vlad shot. “I am,” he replied, as Chase observed him, before he nodded. “Fine, then she is your responsibility from now on. You keep an eye on her wherever she goes, understood?” Chase ordered. “I understand,” Jaze answered with no hesitation, as he turned around to head back to the room. “That was really nice of you,” Stella spoke, as he turned to her with a sigh. “Stella, I have a favor to ask you if she asks about it. I don’t want you to tell her I was the one who found her,” Jaze spoke as Stella frowned. “But why?” “Please just.. Don’t!” He sighed before he walked back into the room. [..] After they had listened to what she had to say, they had all left the room. Jaze needed time to think, so when Stella asked to talk to her alone, Jaze took the opportunity to leave the clinic to get a shower and clear his mind. He constantly tried to wrap his mind around the reasons why he would save her life. It had been like an instinct, he couldn’t stop it, but he kept telling himself he only did it because he had a moment of weakness. Why else would he save a vampire who tried to kidnap his cousin? But something told him he would do it again in a heartbeat. When he returned, he was shocked to see neither Stella nor Persephone in the room, but the shock quickly turned to anger. Did Stella just let her go, or did Persephone somehow trick Stella? He stomped away as he mind-linked Stella. “Where the hell is she, Stella?!” He growled, before Stella shortly after replied. “Oh relax Jaze, she needed to feel welcomed not to be treated like some kind of prisoner. Cut her some slack, will you!” She spoke. “I’m completely relaxed, but you’re forgetting I’m the one responsible for her, and we have no idea if we should trust her yet. If anything happens, I will be to blame!” He scolded. “Nothing will happen I promise, I got it covered,” she chipped, but Jaze couldn’t accept that response. He was just about to go give her a piece of his mind, but when he passed by a room, he suddenly caught a scent smelling like camomile and strawberries, and he instantly knew what it was. “Mate!” His wolf howled, as he immediately opened the door. “Why didn’t he smell this before, and who could it be? He could hear water was running in the bathroom and headed for the door right away, before pulling the handle down. When he opened the door, he could see a silhouette standing behind the shower curtain, and the strong scent was all over, making his heartbeat rise like a wildfire. But then it occurred to him what he was about to do, so he quickly turned his back to her, as he felt his cheeks getting warm. “Mate! Go to our mate!” His wolf continued as he shook his head. “We can’t, she is in the middle of a shower, it would be wrong!” He defended, as he started heading back out of the bathroom, as suddenly a familiar voice made him freeze to his spot, as it resonated throughout the room. ——— “If you just came to harass me because you think I smell weird, then please leave.” Persephone hissed as she was turning her back to him, so he walked out and slammed the door, before he would do something he would regret. “Where are you going? Go back in there!” His wolf growled. “No! This can’t be possible. How on Earth can she be our mate? It has to be some kind of scam!” Jaze answered. “Come on, you saw that look on her face, she had no idea what you were talking about!” His wolf defended. “Maybe, but what about her talk of Ucculta Nix, what is that even about?” Jaze continued. “I’m gonna ask Vlad about it, he knows more than anyone else here, he must know something about it.” He added. ——— The next morning, he walked directly up to him. “Vlad, may I ask you a question?” Jaze asked, as Vlad nodded. “What is it?” He asked, as he didn’t look at him, as he was fixing the light on the front of his house. “What’s Ucculta Nix?” He asked, as Vlad finally turned to look at him with a frown. “Why?” “Just something Persephone mentioned, like I should know what it is,” he replied, as Vlad jumped down from the ladder and looked at Jaze. “Ucculta Nix is a flower which gives a person the ability to hide one's scent from werewolves. Why?” “Nothing, she just spoke about it like we had talked about it before,” Jaze explained, as Vlad grabbed his face and his eyes slightly hardened. “I believe you were compelled!” He spoke, as Jaze's eyes widened. “What? When?” Jaze blurred out. “I don’t know, but we’ll figure it out,” Vlad replied, as he had Jaze follow him. The moment Jaze had his memories back, he was so angry, that he confronted Persephone about it right after, and even though she tried to apologize, he didn’t wanna hear it. Instead, he just left her there looking embarrassed, but it was nothing compared to what he felt. He had never met anyone so selfish before, but as he got home he heard Stella call for him, so he turned around. “That was not okay, Jaze!” She scolded him, as he crossed his arms. “She compelled me, Stella, just to get information about you! How would you feel about that?!” Jaze snapped, as she shook her head. “Probably not good, but you didn’t have to humiliate her like that, she’s trying to do better, and you're acting like she hurt your feelings. You already knew her reasons for being here at first, so why does it surprise you that much?” She shot, as he suddenly realized it. He was hurt because he actually liked her! “I.. I don’t know, okay! Just leave me alone!” he blurred out as he hurried inside, as he exhaled. This can not be happening! [Next day] What’s up man?” Sonny greeted him, as he, Blake and Giles walked up to Jaze. He was sitting at a table as he had just finished breakfast, and was getting ready to get up. “Fine, what about you?” He replied. “All good here, I just wanted to ask if you have met the new girl yet?” Sonny asked, as Blake and Giles nodded eagerly. Making a bitter anger rise in him. “I have. Why do you ask?” He replied, as he tried to seem unbothered by it. “Nothing, just wanted to know if you would introduce us?” He continued with a small grin, making everything turn in his stomach. “Nah, I think you can do that yourself, but I don’t understand why you’re so interested,” Jaze tried to dismiss, as Blake jumped in. “Oh, come on, man, don’t try to act like you don’t see how hot she is!” He spoke up, as Jaze clinched his fist. “And when you talk about the sun, it shines,” Sonny continued, as he looked towards the entrance, as Jaze saw Persephone walk in. She actually looked like an angel, with her white dress, blond curly hair hanging loose and this kinda innocent and curious look on her face, as she looked around. “And that’s our cue, see you, man!” Sonny spoke as he slapped Jaze’s back, making him jump slightly. As he watched their conversation, he kept getting more and more annoyed. Why was she so friendly with them? Didn’t she see what they were trying to do? Or maybe she just didn’t care. He couldn’t watch it anymore, so when she suddenly caught him watching them, he just looked away and walked out to the hall. After the day, she almost invited him in to the shower. He couldn’t believe she would just jump onto the next guy like that. She could at least try to seem less friendly. He thought to himself, as he suddenly could smell her coming closer. He didn’t look at her, but as she passed by him, he couldn’t keep his mouth shut, so he confronted her about the guys. “Why do you care?” She asked, as Jaze tensed by her unexpected question. What was he supposed to say? He was unable to tell her the truth, she would probably laugh at him if he tried to explain it. So, instead of being honest, he acted on his anger. “I don’t, I just believe you should think for once instead of jumping on every guy you meet, it’s kinda pathetic,” he stated coldly, as her face turned blank, and she nodded. “Okay, I’ll keep that in mind,” she replied before she walked away. “You’re being a d**k to our mate,” his wolf growled. “No, I’m not, she is the one getting around,” he hissed. “Then go claim her for Moon Goddess sake!” “No, we can’t!” “Why the hell not, she belongs to us. I don’t wanna see her with other men, or I’m gonna rip someone’s head off!” It snapped. “Stop, the easiest thing will just be to reject her,” Jaze responded. “What the fück are you talking about? I have not agreed to that plan!” His wolf growled. “Well, you don’t have to, ‘cause it’s my decision,” Jaze stated, before he cut the connection with his wolf. [Friday] “If you plan to reject her, why haven’t you done it yet?” His wolf scoffed angrily, after he had ignored it for days. “I’m trying to find the right moment,” he replied as he headed into the house, where the party was already in full motion. Jaze was not going to let her go to that party alone, so he decided to go. Though he most of all wanted to stay away, he put on his best smile and tried to seem like he actually wanted to be there. “Right, keep telling yourself that!” His wolf snarled at him. “And that’s why I have ignored you for the past few days,” he hissed back, as he grabbed himself a beer and sat down on the sofa. Suddenly, a girl named Ava came over and sat down next to him. “Hey Jaze! How’s it going?” She spoke in a flirtatious tone, as she moved a little closer. Ava was a nature witch, she was sweet and all, but she was always flirting around at these parties and Jaze was not interested in it. He was about to tell her off, but then he caught the sight of Persephone coming through the door. Sonny was already there greeting her with a hug, as she returned it with a smile, which immediately started a burning anger inside, that gave him an urge to go over there and punch Sonny in the face, and claim her. But he immediately suppressed the urge when Persephone looked his way, and instead he did what he normally wouldn’t do. He placed an arm around Ava’s shoulder and smiled at her. “I’m great, how are you?” He spoke with his best smile on. The rest of their conversation was kind of a blur, ‘cause he wasn’t really listening to it. Instead, he continued to keep an eye on Persephone, at least until, Ava grabbed his face and kissed him, making him freeze before he finally came back to his senses and moved back while she stared at him with a confused expression. “What’s the matter, Jaze?” She asked, as he shook his head. Nothing, I’m sorry Ava, but this will not happen, I.. I apologize for leading you on like that,” he stated as he got up from his seat and walked away when he suddenly was stopped by Armaros. “So, what’s the issue with you and Persephone?” Armaros asked, making Jaze slightly panic. “I have no idea what you’re talking about!” Jaze blurred out, as Armaros raised an eyebrow at him. “Really? So, you, trying to make Persephone jealous by flirting with some girl, is nothing?” Armaros asked. “I’m not! And there’s no issue between me and her, so stay out of it, you don’t know anything!” He hissed, as he turned away. “What? That she’s your mate? I certainly know,” Armaros revealed, as Jaze froze. “What! But, how?” He asked, as he turned back around. “That’s quite obvious,” Armaros spoke, as he leaned against the wall next to him. “I have known since Stella told me you were the one who asked her to save Percy’s life. I haven’t told this to anyone, not even Stella, but when she first showed up at my place, she was shot, nothing serious, but it could have been, but I stopped it – why? Because something inside me told me that I shouldn’t let her die, and I’m pretty confident that’s how you felt as well, when you saw Persephone out there in the woods, am I right?” Armaros asked, as Jaze sighed and nodded. “The only difference is you now understand why you acted like that, so my question is, why do you hide it?” Armaros asked. “I.. I’m not! I just don’t think it is anyone else’s business, before I know where we stand,” Jaze dismissed. “You're scared of how she’s going to react,” Armaros spoke. “I’m not scared! I’m just evaluating my options, but you’re probably going to tell everyone now,” he snarled. “Hey! I don’t judge, I get it, and I won’t tell anyone, just promise to figure it out soon, both of you deserve to know, regardless of what you decide to do, ‘cause it’s just as much her choice, as it’s yours.” Armaros spoke, as he gave him a friendly slap on the shoulder. “See you around!” He spoke, before he walked away. He knew Armaros was right, but when he finally decided he would talk to her, he realized Persephone and Sonny were nowhere to be found. Did she leave with him? The thought only made his wolf squirm in anger. “This is your fault! If she ends up being with him, I’ll never forgive you!” It growled, as Jaze ran out from there and searched in her room, at Sonny’s house and every other place he could think of before he ran back to the party where he saw Blake. “Where the hell is Sonny?” He snapped, as Blake stared at him confused. “Relax man, he and the boys are just playing strip-poker with..” he didn’t get to finish before Jaze walked over to his brother. “Kyan, I need you to help me stop this party now!” He hissed, as Kyan just nodded. “Okay, can I ask you why?” He replied confused, before Jaze just shook his head and walked directly for the door and pushed it open.. [End of Flashback] “I’m your what, Jaze? Your personal whorë? If you wanna use me, then fine, go ahead,” She quavered, as she lost every will to fight the tears anymore. “If taking advantage of me and hurting me makes you feel better, then just do it! I have nothing left to fight for anyway, ‘cause you’ve already taken that small amount of dignity I had left,” She sobbed, as he took a hold on her cheeks and looked into her eyes. “I’m sorry, It wasn’t my intention to hurt you like that, but I have no way of explaining it to you, ‘cause I’m afraid, I’ll scare you away,” he spoke, while he leaned his head against hers. “I rather want you to be honest with me, then this!” She replied, as he exhaled, before looking back into her eyes. “You are my mate, okay? And that’s why I get píssed off every time I see you around other men. I don’t want them to touch you, or to even look at you the way they do. I want to be the only one to have you. The hell, Sonny is my friend, and today, all I wanted was to rip off his díck and feed it to him,” he spoke, as she stared at him stunned. “Was that honest enough for you?” He added as she slowly nodded her head.
