When Bella headed back towards Dagon’s room from the bathroom, she heard her mom and dad call out to her in the clinic hall.
She knew she had avoided them while she had been staying by Dagon’s side, but now there was no other way around it, as she watched them walk over to her.
“Mom, dad,” Bella spoke as she started playing with her fingers on her back, as they hugged her.
It was weird ‘cause last time she saw them, she hadn’t seen them for months, and she felt like a stranger when she arrived with Parker.
Like she didn’t belong there anymore, but now they all of a sudden seemed so caring.
“How are you feeling, Bells?” Her mom asked, as she gently cherished her hair.
“I..” she wasn’t sure what to say, ‘cause she wasn’t completely sure how she was feeling about it.
At that point, she only knew she wanted to see Dagon, and for some reason he must have felt the same way, ‘cause suddenly she felt his presence behind her.
“Are you feeling okay?” He asked, as she turned around, and she immediately hugged him, which made her calm down again.
“You are clearly better, I see,” Ace spoke to Dagon, who looked at him and nodded.
“Yes, I’m much better now, thank you,” Dagon spoke calmly, as he gently stroked Bella’s back.
“We should probably thank you for being there for our daughter, when we weren’t able to,” Ace started, as Clarissa nodded, and he put a hand forward.
“Even though we have had our differences, I hope we can be able to move past what happened between us,” he continued as Dagon nodded, but he didn’t take it.
“I appreciate it, I really do, but you don’t need to either thank me or apologize to me. If anyone here deserves an apology, I believe it’s Bella,” Dagon revealed as both of them looked at him confused.
“I might not understand all your rules and traditions, but she is your daughter, and you didn’t even realize how she was feeling, even from my car when I arrived that day, I could see her sadness and fear, so I don’t understand how you could sit in front of her and not see it at all?” He clarified.
“Are you serious right now?” Ace asked as he narrowed his eyes.
“I know you’re feeling offended right now, but that is not my intention. I just think you should be more considerate about how she’s feeling right now.”
“I don’t see how this is any concern to you!” Ace hissed.
“Stop it, Ace, he’s right,” Clarissa interfered.
“But Cassy..” he started, but Clarissa didn’t wanna hear it.
“No, we should have seen it or at least have listened to Stella,” she defended, as Ace sighed.
“Okay, maybe you’re right, I’m sorry we didn’t see it, Bells,”
“We both are,” Clarissa added, before Ace then turned back to Dagon.
“Do you think you could let us have a moment with our daughter? Alone?” He asked, as Dagon nodded his head and looked at Bella and gave her a reassuring smile.
“I’ll be right here if you need anything,” he stated, as she nodded. They then walked down the hall and all of them sat down at a table.
“You have been so quiet ever since you came back, we have tried giving you some space, but won’t you please, talk to us, Bella,” Clarissa begged.
“I’m trying my best mom, but I just don’t know what to say,” Bella replied as she was keeping her eyes on the glass of water that her mother had given her from the water cooler dispenser, which was standing in the corner of the room, while she took a quick sip.
“Then what about you and Dagon? You two seem pretty close,” Ace added as Bella looked up.
“We are.. He is my second chance mate, but even if he hadn’t been, I would still choose to be with him, ‘cause I love him and I have for quite a while now.” Bella revealed as they both looked at her stunned.
“But he’s..” Ace blurred out, but clearly regretted his outburst, and held back, as Bella narrowed her eyes while she placed the glass on the table.
“He’s what, dad? A demon? I already know, but you have no idea what Parker did to me! He is a werewolf, and he still beat me and used his Alpha voice against me, and other things that I can’t even tell you.” She hissed as she looked down.
She clinched her eyes together for a moment, as the horrifying memories of what had been going on in the Green Oak Pack for the last three months flashed before her eyes.
When she finally was able to suppress them, she looked up again and continued.
“He didn’t care if he was hurting me, while Dagon does everything to make sure I’m safe and happy, to the point where it almost got him killed, but I guess you care more about race than my happiness!” Bella snapped, as she raised from her seat and turned her back to them.
“Bells, wait! I didn’t mean it like that, I just worry about you.” He replied, as he raised from his seat as well.
“It surely didn’t feel like it the other day,” she spoke in a low voice, as she was still turning away from them.
“I’m truly sorry you had to go through all of that, and I’m genuinely grateful that Dagon was able to be there for you when I failed to,” Ace spoke.
“So, if you’re sure he is the one that makes you happy, then I won’t stand in your way, I just want you to be certain,” he spoke, which made Bella turn back around.
“I have never been more certain about anything in my entire life, dad,” Bella replied, while Ace made a deep sigh and nodded.
“Then I guess it’s good enough for me,” he answered as he walked over to her and gave her a hug, and so did Clarissa.
But suddenly, they were interrupted as they felt Chase summoning them, and Bella immediately feared what was about to happen.
It only intensified the moment she saw Parker and the Green Oak Pack standing outside the tribe house.
The feeling only started to disappear the moment the words left Parker’s lips:
They were going to leave without trying to attack, and hopefully, he would stay away in the future too.
‘Cause Bella had no desire to ever see Parker again.
[Several months later]
“You did it, cuz!” Jaze grinned as he came over and hugged me, followed by Kyan and Bella. They both hugged me, before they gave a hug to Vicca too and, of course, Kyan wasn’t letting Vicca go again before he had given her a kiss.
Despite my last year of high school having been a little delayed, I managed to finish it on time together with Vicca and the rest of the class, though I never actually was there, but I did everything I needed to do from home, and it had turned out as well as it could. Therefore, my parents had planned a small party for Vicca and I at the tribe house.
“Yeah, I can’t believe it completely myself either,” I chuckled a little.
Well, small would probably be an understatement, as my parents had invited the whole tribe, plus my uncles from the Blue Moon pack too, so it was pretty full.
“Hey babygirl!” Armaros greeted me with his sexy smile, making my body burn with desire for him, as he was standing there with one hand in his pocket as Dagon, Baal and Shax were there too.
Before I was even able to reply, Bella had already jumped into Dagon’s arms as she kissed him.
I grinned as I bit down my lip before I walked up and hugged him.
“Hey,” I whispered to him, as he put his hands around my waist and pulled me closer.
“Your parents are really making a big number out of this, don’t they?” Armaros asked, as I rolled my eyes as I shrugged.
“You know them, always finding an excuse to celebrate something,” I spoke with a smile on my lips.
“Nothing wrong with celebrating important things. It’s just.. It’s your birthday in two days. They could have just.. Waited a little,” he chuckled, and I had to agree with him, but I was not the one to deny my parents some joy and to them, this was creating the joyful moments they wished for.
“They could, but I know one thing,” I spoke as he had a teasing smile on his face.”
“Okay, and what’s that?” He asked.
“My birthday this year will be much better than the last one,” I revealed.
“Why?”
“Because you are here to celebrate it with me, of course,” I grinned, as I kissed him again.
“That hurt, cupcakes! I thought I counted too!” Shax whined as he suddenly had his face all close to us, as Armaros put a hand on his face and shoved him away.
“Move your face, Shax. Can’t you just give us two seconds!” He growled, as Shax pouted.
“Nope, my cupcake doesn’t love me anymore,” he continued as I chuckled, and gave him a hug.
“Of course I do, I’m glad all of you are here,” I reassured him, as he immediately lighted up.
“But she still loves me the most,” Armaros spoke, as he winked at me, and I just shook my head with a smile.
“Thanks to me! Without me, your relationship would have been non-existing!” Shax shot back, making Armaros send him a glare.
“Shut up, Shax!” He growled.
“He got a point,” Baal interfered, as Armaros turned to him too.
“Stay out of it, Baal!” Armaros hissed, but both Shax, Baal and Dagon started laughing at him.
“It’s true, you were kind of a díck back then!” Dagon grinned.
“Well, so were you, Dagon!” Shax added, as both Armaros and Baal agreed, and I couldn’t help to love how their relation had turned into such a great friendship.
They had all changed a lot since then, and I am happy all of them were here with us.
We all just continued to laugh and have fun, and even Ezra and Daliah were there having fun with us too.
I finally felt how full my life was with all these people I cared about and actually started to understand my parents’ extended family much better, ‘cause I felt the same way with those people around me.

“Congratulations girls!” Lumaura squealed as she walked over and hugged both Stella and Vicca.
“Thank you so much, aunt Lumaura, I’m so happy you could come, all of you!” Stella replied with a smile as she hugged Vlad too.
“We are just as happy to be here,” Vlad spoke, as he put their daughter Valary down, as Theo ran over to her and hugged her, before they ran off to play.
“Oh shoot, I forgot the bag of clothes I promised for Xander and his mate’s new baby, it completely slipped my mind,” Lumaura sighed, as Vlad just chuckled.
“I’ll get it, don’t you worry,” he reassured her, as he gave her a kiss.
“Thank you honey,” Lumaura smiled as she returned the kiss before he left the house in a flash.
But the moment Vlad entered his house, he felt something was wrong. The moment he walked into the living room, he saw someone standing by the window.
“Who the hell are you, and what are you doing in my house?” Vlad growled, as the person turned around, and to Vlad’s surprise, he recognized him.
“Long time no see.. What is it now – 25 years?” He stated as he smiled at Vlad, who knitted his eyebrows.
“Dmitrij?” He blurred out, as he wasn’t sure what he was doing there, of all places.
Dmitrij nodded, and looked Vlad up and down as he stepped closer to him.
“In the flesh! What happened to you? The last thing I heard was, that you were fooling around with some little human girl.. You even chose her side in the war against Magus, didn’t you?” He grinned as he slapped him on the arm with his hand, making Vlad slightly tense.
“Some of us actually grew up, and of course, I did.. Magus was a lunatic!” Vlad stated.
“Hey, I don’t blame you.. I would have done the same.” Dmitrij answered, as he continued to walk around the room, while he observed his surroundings.
“But I see you have finally settled down. Who would have thought that would ever happen!” He grinned, as he continued to look around while he placed a hand on his cheek, so he seemed a bit amused.
“I clearly remember the one time we went to that city in North Dakota..” Dmitrij started, but Vlad immediately interrupted him.
“Quit the stalling, Dmitrij! What are you doing here? I’m sure you didn’t come here just to have a friendly chat about the old days,” Vlad cut in.
“Oh, someone isn’t in the nostalgic corner today.. Well, fine, you’re right, that is not the reason why I came. Some pretty interesting rumors have spread, and they state that a hybrid exists around this area, and this is the only place in the state where different species live together. So tell me. Are there any truth to these rumors?” He asked, which made Vlad narrow his eyes.
“Why? What is it to you?” Vlad glared at him, as he fisted his hands.
“So, I’m right, it is true. But it’s not what it is to me, Vlad. I have no interest in it whatsoever, but Cain, on the other hand, is very interested,” he replied as a smile spread on his lips.
“That’s not possible.. He died a long time ago.” Vlad blurred out.
“Yeah, most people believed that, but you see, he faked his own death.
You know how Magus was. Once he saw you as a potential threat, he wouldn’t let it go, so it was a necessary move, but over the years he has managed to build up what he lost 150 years ago, but he is not done.. He wants the hybrid, Vlad.” He revealed, as Vlad grabbed hold of him and slammed him into the wall.
“He can’t have her, so tell him to stay the fück away!” Vlad growled, but then a smirk spread on Dmitrij’s lips.
“So, the hybrid is a girl – and you do know her! Wow, who would have guessed that,” he stated, while Vlad quickly realized his mistake.
“I’m serious Dmitrij, I’m not joking around, you will stay quiet about this, or I will kill you right here and now! The only reason I haven’t done that, is because you used to be like a brother to me, so think carefully about this!” Vlad warned him.
“If you kill me, someone else will just show up in my place until he gets the information he wants.” Dmitrij answered carelessly.
“Then you’ll tell him there was nothing to find!” Vlad growled.
“And why would I do that? Why does this hybrid mean that much to you anyway?” He asked, as he pushed Vlad away, and corrected his jacket.
“Have you already found a new toy? Is that the reason why you act like this?” He suggested, as Vlad glared at him.
“No? It’s not that, is it? There is more to it..” he spoke calmly, as he continued to observe Vlad.
One thing Dmitrij had always been good at reading people. Normally, it never had any effect on Vlad, but that was before he had anything to lose.
In the past, he didn’t care about anything or anyone, but now he could possibly lose everything.
“Arh, you have some special bond with her, am I right?” Dmitrij grinned, as Vlad tried to keep a straight face.
“You have changed a lot, who would have thought you would ever be that emotional about something, or should I say someone?” Dmitrij scoffed, while he walked up to a dresser, where there was a line of pictures.
“Is this your family? Wow, she’s hot!” He spoke as he pointed at a picture, before he picked it up.
“.. And those kids, nice job, Player.” Dmitrij added, as he lifted his eyes slightly from the frame, and looked at Vlad.
“What are you up to, huh? If you as much as consider threatening me or my family, I will end you!” Vlad growled.
“Of course not. I’m not stupid enough to threaten someone twice my age.. But you know Cain.
He wants answers, Vlad, and you will have to give me something, or I fear he might do something drastic..” he added, while he patted Vlad on the shoulder, before he continued.
“.. Just think about it, unless this hybrid girl is more important to you than your own family,” he spoke before he disappeared.
