Chapter 14
I quickly filled her in on my morning visitor. She nodded, giving me the feeling she had been expecting this. When I finished telling her about the questions Detective Byrd had asked, she explained why she was here.
"I was doing my rounds with the doctors when I overheard one talking about a new case that had just been brought into the morgue. The hair stood on the back of my neck and I knew, I just knew, somehow, we were all connected to it. I made some lame excuse and got out of the rest of my rounds and hurried down to the morgue to find out what was happening. The coroner told me about his newest arrival and the circumstances that had brought her there. And then he told me her name."
