Chapter 2 The following day on his way to work Julian said “good morning” to Lucy, who smiled, as she always did, as though she held a secret she was bursting to tell. He said “good morning” to Alastair and admired the man’s muscles, something he never tired of doing. He said a dozen more “good mornings” before he finally arrived at his desk and sat down. He’d barely had a chance to switch on his monitor when a man with thick-rimmed glasses and a sour expression approached his desk. “Julian James? 41329?” The man was standing with his legs perfectly straight and slightly apart.
