Chapter 12: Death Box
Christopher said the devil made him read the obituaries on a daily basis. Sometimes he would share the obituaries with me when we were a couple.
“Candice Samantha Reynard was thirty-two years old, died in a car crash on Reef Street, and left behind two daughters and a husband. Her daddy was rich and she comes from lots of cash.
“Bernard Shaw Cordgy III. He passed away from a heart attack yesterday. He was almost ninety and worth seven million dollars, which will be shared among his four sons.
“Patricia Mensford-Cunningham died of a crystal meth overdose. She was twenty-six, pregnant, and was the fiancé to a Robert Mission, who resides in Daytona.”
And then he started cutting the obituaries out one by one, keeping them in a shoe box, which he called the Death Box.
