Chapter 6
The next week flew by. Threats continued coming through texts, but Jacob ignored them. He and Luka fell into a routine as they began to balance their new romance with work and the outside world.
As they worked through the day, each man texted the other several times, just touching base with the other. Sometimes it was just a silly text or a joke, but it didn’t really matter because it was more about maintaining a connection. After Luka got off work from the hardware store, he would head directly to the shelter and get to work on various projects. It became habit for him eat dinner with them.
Some evenings, Jacob would help Luka, but sometimes that took longer than letting Luka do it on his own. Jacob wasn’t the handiest when it came to tools, but Luka never made him feel bad.
