Brock wanted to complain to the owners about his horse and his instructor. Dave Meadows had told the guests on the first evening at supper that if they had a problem they could go to either himself or the other owner, Dave Rivers. Brock could only conclude the reason why he stayed quiet was because he felt ashamed. He was supposed to be a cowboy, and cowboys just cowboyed up and got on with it. However, by the end of day three, cowboy or not—and Brock was realizing he was no cowboy—he’d had enough of Mike’s bullshit. Much of the day had been spent learning ranch chores—mucking stalls, mending fences near the homestead, even being taught the basics of tack maintenance. Those things Brock had done okay at, but Mike still rubbed him up the wrong way, calling him out when he got s**t wrong.
