A week later, it was the first of August. My delectable neighbor had been entertaining guests that looked like members of his family for the past few days, and a woman that I’d been seeing over there regularly was hanging possessively onto his arm. I saw a ring on her finger, a pretty huge damn rock. Geez, as if I’d needed any more proof. Mandu, the cat, had stopped coming over, too. Perhaps the pesky puss was enamored with the new woman.
