Chapter 9: Shopaholic

Shen Lianhua excitedly pulls Shen Baiyu towards Jinyu House followed closely by Moli. Crown Prince Beitang Moran and Bai Zhishi smile as they look at them. Shen Lianhua is obviously happy as she checks the exquisite jewelleries displayed at the famous shop. Moli seems to be concentrating on each items too with sparkle in her eyes.

Only Shen Baiyu stands aloof in the middle of the store as she calmly assessing the store. When one of the workers wanted to assist her, she gently dismisses him with just a movement from her graceful hand. The worker seems to be mesmerized by her hand before retreating to the counter. When she noticed one face mask made from silver and embedded by precious stones displayed on a rack, she then turns her head and calls back the same man by using the movement of her hand again. As if entranced by her hand, the worker comes to where she is standing with a wide smile on his face.

The other workers noticed this striking infamous miss. With her trademark veil hat, they knew who she is before she even entered the store. True, they thought that she is a poor young miss that is unluckily born with an ugly face. But, upon seeing her gracefully and calmly entered the store with such confidence. They are somewhat doubting the rumours. She stood there as if she owns the store herself. The graceful movements made simply by her hand's gestures placed her as if she comes from a noble family. Then they hear her soft yet melodious voice, each of them stops whatever they are doing at that very moment and stared foolishly at the eldest miss of the Shen family.

"Kind sir, can I take a look at that beautiful face mask..."

The male worker as if being wakened up from his dream nervously answers immediately, "Yes... Yes, Eldest Miss Shen."

Crown Prince Beitang Moran look at her and smile. This is the right person to be by his side as the future empress of his kingdom. The way she carries herself is quite calm and compose while intertwining with a touch of nobility. It seems that all those hard trainings for her to become Nangong Yingjun's future crown princess are not worthless after all. Too bad because he will be the one who will get all those benefits meant for the idiotic fool. He looks at her as she gently holds and touches the mask with her beautifully soft and fair hands made him smile even wider. He wishes he could touch her hands, but she still belongs to that dreadful man. Soon, she will be free, and he will have the chance to claim her as his.

The male worker seems to realize this and thought that this is a look of a man in love with a streak of possessiveness as his eyes are sharply looking at him as he attends to eldest miss Shen while she is checking the face mask made from silver adorned with precious stones. She then asked for his permission to try on the mask, according to the store policy, one worker has to be with her while she is trying it, but he hesitated as she is known to be quite secretive with her actual look. She calmly agreed and chose one female worker to accompany her. Moli is following right behind her.

All three of them entered the back room for her to try on the face mask. A few seconds later, a loud gasp can be heard coming from the back room. One senior worker then immediately inquires them if anything is wrong but, the female worker answered with a slightly trembling voice saying that they will be done soon, and no one can enter the back room. A burst of soft melodious laughter can be heard coming from the same room.

Bai Zhishi look at his fiancée whom is smiling and reassures both men that her older sister will be just fine with Moli with her. She noticed that the moment the female worker loudly gasped, the handsome man next to her fiancé seems like he is ready to barge into the back room to rescue a damsel in distress. In the past, her older sister might need someone to constantly rescue her. Now, she can take care of herself. With that thought, Shen Lianhua smiles even wider.

The back room's curtain then lifted by the female worker whose cheeks are slightly blushing by now. She then packs the silver face mask into a beautiful silk brocade box.

Once it is ready, Shen Baiyu instructed Moli to pay for it but Crown Prince Beitang Moran insisted to pay for the mask. Bai Zhishi and Shen Lianhua exchanges meaningful glances between them. Moli looks at Shen Baiyu who is looking at the other man.

"Dear sir, I think it is not appropriate for you to pay on my behalf. I have enough money to pay for the face mask. Therefore, I have to respectfully decline your kind intention."

"Why? It is a thank you gift for your willingness to be my companion for today."

"That gift of yours is too valuable for this miss to accept. Please understand."

Crown Prince Beitang Moran look at her and says, "Alright but I will treat you for a drink later, I hope that you will not decline my offer."

"Then, I will graciously accept your invitation. Moli, pay for the mask now."

The female worker takes the golden coins given by Moli and handed out the silk brocade box to her. Moli takes it and put it inside her embroidered sling bag. Before they leave, Shen Baiyu then chose 3 pairs of earrings, a silver hairpin and a silver bangle before personally paid for all of it herself. The simple silver hairpin is given to Shen Lianhua while the silver earrings are given to Moli. The earrings made from gold and green jade are for Concubine Li Xiyin. The green jade carved bangle is for her sister-in-law while the silver bangle with a pair of small bells is for her niece.

Once she had done paying for every single items chosen by her. She left the store followed by Shen Lianhua and Moli whom are smiling from ear to ear after accepting their respective gifts from Shen Baiyu. The others are put into Moli's sling bag for safekeeping.

Seeing that they are no longer within their sights, the workers scrambled to the female worker who had been with the eldest miss in the back room. She then told them that rumours are meant to be rumours with a dreamy look in her eyes. She feels that today is indeed her lucky day for being able to personally look at the eldest miss's actual (beautiful) face. What ugly miss? Those moronic gossipmongers are tattling worthless so-called information. Eldest miss of the Shen family is indeed a beauty just like the young miss of the Shen family. Her beautiful appearance paired with her alluring body and calm, yet confident attitude made her one of the top beauty in the kingdom. She is also eloquent with her words with an obvious bright mind beyond her years.

All in all, the female worker can feel that the eldest miss will soon make a huge and sensational comeback into the public scene. That she cannot wait to hear about.
