The di1 daughter of the Shen Jilie2, Shen Baiyu, has just celebrated her 17th birthday. As she is someone who rarely left her courtyard, her family made a small birthday celebration just for her sake. Only her family members including those living in their manor know how she looks like and so forth. Though she is known as a timid one, she is in fact not a shy person, but she hated to socialize with anyone else but her own family members.

Her late mother is famously known as a 'gentle beauty' throughout the Kingdom but because she rarely goes out and, when she does, she will wear always wear a veil, it has been said that she is not a beauty unlike her late mother or her royal aunt or her younger half-sister. She is, in fact, a beautiful young lady, but she does not want her beauty surpasses everything else including her real self. She wanted the others to accept her for what she is without even knowing how she looks like but, her parents are, in fact, good looking individuals so, in a retrospect, she must be someone not that bad looking either. But, due to her mysterious habit of rarely showing herself in the public, she is thought to be ugly by others including the one she is supposed to marry 2 years ago.

She is supposed to be married into the royal family to become the crown princess of the Kingdom, but that man suddenly decided to join the sudden war in between the Kingdom of Nangong and the Kingdom of Beitang3. 2 years later, both Kingdoms have decided to have a truce but then that man has also come back a few days ago with a beautiful lady by his side. That lady is Second Princess Beitang Xing4, the second daughter of Emperor Beitang Yi5. He blatantly declared that she is to be his crown princess and not Shen Baiyu. He even refused to have her even as his concubine.

She laughs till she coughed blood before she fainted when she found out of the absurd news. Since she was a child, she was trained rigorously by various teachers and mentors because she is the rightful crown princess. All her life, that is the only main purpose of her life. Though she has a weak body, she persevered in her rigorous lessons just so she would one day be an exceptional crown princess that would make both the Shen and the Mu6 proud of. For what? She is, after all, is just a daughter of a general and the other party is the beloved daughter of an emperor. She will never win even if her maternal aunt is the birth mother of the crown prince and the empress of their kingdom. They would choose a princess to be the crown princess of the Kingdom and not her, the 'ugly' unknown daughter of General Shen Jilie.

Her half-brother and half-sister are both well known for the exceptional good looks and talents, and they always attended any public functions but, as she is quite weak and has always been sick, she prefers to stay at her courtyard and rejected all those invitations. Her kind and loving stepmother will always be there by her side to take care of her even through the days and nights whenever she is unwell.

When she woke up, her health worsens, seems like all those stress, disappointments and shock have finally taken its toll on her fragile body. As she laid on her bed, she looks at each of her family members. Her father looks broken upon seeing the daughter born by the greatest love of his life is slowly dying by the minutes. Her stepmother is crying as she gently strokes her hair. Her older half-brother looks as if he will erupt any time soon, but his wife is holding onto his hand tightly. Her younger half-sister is crying uncontrollably.

This is it she thought to herself... 17 years of living but what has she done? Nothing. There is nothing that she can be proud of. In the end, she is only a stupid fool. She has done absolutely nothing to return the care and love that she has received from her family especially her stepmother whom by now looking quite haggard after dedicating herself to take care of her ungrateful stepdaughter for years.

If there is such thing as transmigration and/or rebirth, can she change? Bleakly, it is impossible... She has always been sick and somewhat timid, what can she do to change this even if she is being given the chance to be reborn once more?

She suddenly coughs continuously, before gripping on tightly onto her stepmother's hand.

"Baiyu!!! Baiyu!!!"

She heard how grief-stricken all her family members scream her name. She wanted to keep on living, but her heart slowly and gradually stops beating. Within minutes, the world has gone dark for her...
