My sisters and my brother are coming over today. I'm excited to see them, but a little anxious at the same time.
It's been over a year since I've seen them, but at least I still contact them online from time to time. Sometimes, it's easier to realize that I'm the youngest one out of all of them. Seriously, they're all in their twenties and I'm a teenager.
I have three sisters: Monica, Ivy, and Maeve. Monica is the oldest, and the tallest next to my brother, Simon. She usually always wants to ask about me. What I'm doing, how well I'm doing in school, it's a hassle to tell her how I am without her having to speak every five seconds.
Ivy is the middle oldest. I refer to her as the most jubilant sister that I've had. She works as a food service associate at the downtown hospital. As far as I can tell, she loves her job, due to all the selfies she takes at work with the employees.
Maeve is really laid-back and cool, and she always seemed to dress appropriately for every event she was heading to. And then there's my brother, Simon. He has a girlfriend, Audrey, who was in an accident a few years ago before the both of them met. She's doing well and gets around easily in her wheelchair. They had a baby girl named Hailey. I couldn't wait to see her and my other nieces and nephews.
I couldn't wait to see my sisters and brother either.
It was Saturday and I had just finished getting dressed into my black sweater with the ripped hole jeans that matched nicely. I am very fond of matching clothing colors. I sat on the edge of the bed and tied my shoes.
They were going to pick me up and take me out for the entire day. Grandma and Uncle Lionel thought it'd be nice for me to get out of the house. I suppose it's not good to be cooped up in your room all day.
I checked the clock and saw that it was 11:30 a.m. Only thirty more minutes before they were coming. Quickly, I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth to get rid of my nasty morning breath. After that, I went to the kitchen where Grandma and my uncle were eating the breakfast that aunt Helen had made for them. I already ate early this morning anyway.
"Good morning," I said to them.
"Morning, Max." they both said one at a time, taking a bite of the scrambled eggs and sausage on their plates. "Ready to see your sisters this morning?"
I nodded and grinned, happily thinking of what was going to happen today.
Soon enough, I heard a car honk outside. I went to the front door and squinted through the peephole.
There they were, each of them getting out of the red truck parked in our driveway. I let them come up to the door and knock before I opened it, as to not let it seem that I was too eager to go.
When I let them in, the first thing that came at me was a swift hug from Maeve as she swung me around laughing.
"Oh, I'm so glad to see you, little bro!" She said, enthusiastically. Her long black hair smelled like coconut shampoo and her large earrings dangled from her ears.
"Come on, Maeve. Let him breathe." I heard Ivy say, chuckling.
She soon put me down, and they all stood together, getting a good look at me.
"Wow... look at you," Monica said softly. "You've really grown."
I smiled at her. Behind her, I saw Simon glaring at me. Simon was the one who tried to make frequent visits to my house from time to time. Eventually, he just stopped coming.
"So..." I said, trying to not feel awkward. "What's up with you guys?"
"Apparently, you," Ivy said. "You're so tall!"
"Well, I'm only five feet," I said, winningly.
"Where's grandma?" She asked. I told her they were in the kitchen.
They went into the kitchen and started conversing with them. Except for Simon. He just stood there in my sight, glaring at me as if he was mourning.
"Um... hey Simon," I said to him. His only reply was the greeting gesture of his hand.
After my sisters came out of the kitchen shortly, we all got in the car. While I strapped myself with the seatbelt in the backseat, I asked Maeve-who was driving-where we were going. She said that it was a surprise. I shrugged my shoulders, and she began driving us down the main road.
The day ahead began to get cloudy. A drizzle of rain started falling from the sky onto the windshield and windows. Maeve turned on the wipers while Ivy was twiddling the radio until she finally found a good song. It was a nice beat.
I sat in the middle between Ivy and Monica. Simon was in the passenger seat next to Maeve, who was driving slow at the moment. I was ready for where they were taking me.
I was happy to be with my siblings.
